Episode 8

*** VEERA . "Um my name is Veera, I'm here for the job interview" I tell the woman seating behind the desk who I assume is the secretary. "Alright you can sit over there. The boss stepped out but he's on his way" she explains and I smile. I adjust the dupatta on my neck and made my way to the chair opposite her. I inhale and exhale repeatedly. He's not even here so I wonder why I'm feeling so nervous and restless at the same time. I rub my hands together to create some friction and say a short prayer. "Dear almighty, please make everything successful. I really need this Job" Just then, the door swings open and a man on suit wearing dark shades of sunglasses walks in. I recognize him immediately as the guy from the other day. I gasp as a huge smile crosses my lips. He's the one. I meet him again. He works here too? Oh Almighty, is this a sign that we're meant to be together? I can't wait to tell Archi and see the look on her face when she flips. The secretary disrupts my thoughts when she calls the first applicant in to see the CEO. I patiently wait for my turn. My heart almost skips a beat when my name was mentioned. "Veera Kushall?" A pause and then "He's ready for you" she adds and I nod my head and stand up. I clutch my CV tightly to my chest and walk down the corridor like the secretary instructed me. I arrive and see his name boldly written on the door. Shaurya Khanna. I gently knock and his voice came through "Come in" I turn the knob and step inside the office. It is richly decorated with art paintings on the wall and a fish tank with a lovely flower vase which I know would cost a fortune. A large framed picture of him hung on the wall just beside his desk which has documents and a PC which he typed away on. I clear my throat "Mr Khanna" He raises his face to look at me and deep brown eyes are staring at me. I couldn't say another word for fear of stuttering and making a fool out of myself. "Veera right?" He asks and looks down at his laptop in front of him. "Y-Yes Sir" I reply immediately I find my voice. Gosh he's so beautiful. How can someone be so beautiful and handsome at the same time? He gestured to the chair in front of him "have a seat" I sit down immediately with my face downwards. I can't bring myself to look at him. my knees are already feeling like jelly. "Can I see your CV?" He asks and I hand it over to him immediately and he glances through. "Veera Kushall" he asks and I simply nod. He swerves the chair and I am left mesmerized by the way he does it so effortlessly. "So tell me a little more about yourself" he requests and I cough slightly. "You do not have to be shy around me. Trust me I don't bite". The manner in which he says that statement makes my heart skip a beat. "I am Veera Kushall" I begin "I'm twenty three and I just graduated from college some months ago. I studied business administration and I'm a very fast learner" I conclude and he chuckles at my last statement. "Okay so why do you want this job?" "Because I need it and I feel like I'm the right candidate for it and I also need the money too" I lie. My father is capable of taking care of my entire needs for the rest of my life. The only reason he forced me to come to this interview was the meet his friend's son to see if I liked him or not. I was against it at first and that was because I never knew that the guy who I saw the other day was his friend's son. If this isn't fate then I don't know what to call it. "Do you have any experience as a sales manager?" "No I don't but I'm willing to learn and I need to challenge myself so that's why I want to do this" I reply and he just nods. "Alright Veera thanks for coming. We'll give you a call to let you know" he extends his hand and I take it. His hands are so manly that I wouldn't mind them holding me for eternity. After he retrieves his hand, I stand up and give him one last look before exiting the office. I was smiling from ear to ear. I've finally met the one for me. I arrive home and dreamily jump on my bed as I recall the recent happenings earlier today. I make a mental note to visit and tell Archi everything later. "So how did it go?" My mother asks slightly opening the door and peering her head inside. "Ma, he was so handsome" She grins before saying "I asked about the job and not him" "Um...the Job interview was okay but it's not confirmed if I got in or not but he did promise to call if I did" "So.." she drawled "you like Shaurya right?" The glint in my eyes becomes visible and a huge blush finds its way to my cheeks. I stand up and make my way to the door. "He's okay" "Okay for marriage?" I turn almost immediately with a surprised look on my face "marriage?" "Yes. Your father said if you liked him then he'll form an alliance" I hug her tightly, smiling sheepishly. So I'm going to be known as Veera Shaurya Khanna very soon? "Oh Maa, thank you very much. I love you and Papa very much" "And we love you too, that's why your happiness always comes first." She mused and Pats my cheeks lightly. "I'll start the preparations for dinner now so you can rest" "No I'll have to see Archi and give her the good news." I hurriedly wear my slippers "bye mother, see you later. Love you" I kiss her cheeks and exits the house as fast as my legs could carry me. I arrive at Archi's house and I find her in the kitchen already making dinner. "Archi, Archi Archi..." I run to her almost out of breath and hug her tightly. She hugs me back. "Slow down, what's wrong?" She asks pulling away. "Guess what it is?" "You got the job?" She asks excitedly "Not yet but I have even bigger news" I smile "you're looking at the future Mrs Khanna" "Come again?" "Remember that guy I told you about on my way back from college?" "Yes" she responds and turns to continue with what she was doing. "He's Shaurya Khanna, and the owner of the company where I went for the interview" She faces me immediately "No way" "Yes way and turns out that he's the son of my dad's friend whom my dad wants me to get married to and that's why I was sent to the interview to see him and Know if Maybe I like him. If this isn't the almighty's doing, I wonder what it is?" "Oh my goodness Veera, I'm so happy for you" she hugs me again "wait I have something for you" "What is it?" She brings a bowl and I smile "Archi you really don't have to do this" "I made this bowl of kheer not too long ago. I promised to be the first to give you something sweet remember?" She asks and scoops some content on the bowl into the spoon and spoon feeds me. "This is delicious" "Congratulations Veera." "Thank you Archi" We talked about random stuff, throwing jokes here and there until I decide it's time to go home. Today has been one of my best days and that I would never forget in a lifetime. . .
