Chapter 14: Mermaid's Cove & First Kiss

Orion College Amelia I finished another assignment and my brain feels like it has fried but, it was a relief since this was my last one to complete the course before the summer holidays break out. I left the building and I walked towards the gates to find not Dominic but someone else. He has fire red hair, Violet eyes and peachy skin. He had a smirk on his face and he walked towards me. "Hello miss." I looked over my shoulder before looking back at him. "You mean me?" "Of course I mean you," He spoke with a smile before taking my hand and kissing the back of it. "My name is Xaldin, I'm new around here. I was wondering you can show me around town." "Sorry, you're going have to find someone else to show you around. I'm running late." "Late for what?" "I'm meeting my friend and I promised him that we'd hang out today." "Ditch him and hang out with me," Xaldin spoke with a smirk. Suddenly, I was pulled away from Xaldin and it was Dominic. 'Phew, saved by the dragon.' I thought to myself and when I looked at Dominic he was glaring at Xaldin. He growled quietly before looking at me. "Amelia, are you okay? was this guy bothering you?" "Not any more, especially now that you're here." Dominic smiled and then he wrapped his arm around my waist before I said goodbye to Xaldin and then Dominic took me away from him. Once we were far away from the college, Dominic looked at me and he said to me. "Was there a reason why that guy was talking to you?" "He told me he was new in the area and he wanted me to show him around the city. But, I can tell there was some kind of bad vibe coming off of him." "You did well to say no to him. That guy is trouble." "You know him?" "I did once, but not here." I nodded my head and then we got back to Korotlas. I sat on Scorch's back as we flew through the sky. Scorch found a spot to land and then I climbed off his back and we were in front of the mansion. Dominic shifted back into his human form and then he explained to me. "Xaldin was a King like me many centuries ago. He was a greedy King too, always hungry for power until karma bit him in the bum." "What happened? did he also suffer the same fate as you did?" "Well, sort of except, he captures Dragons and keeps them hostage. He thought he could try and tame them and use their power against his enemies. However, it didn't happen. One day, he captured a Dragon Lord, which is a leader of a horde, and then the dragon used his powers on Xladin and then he turned into a dragon." "Yikes, I've read tales about the Dragons having powers but, I never realised they too can use them to curse people. Wait a minute, if Xaldin is a dragon shifter like you then why is he interested in me?" "Let's just say, he and I were rivals a long time ago. We were always competing to see who was the best King until this happened to us. We used to compete for a maiden's hand and get her to like us and marry one of us." "And did you? did you managed to win a woman's heart and her hand in marriage?" Dominic looked away sadly and he nodded his head. "I did once, she was the love of my life and my Queen. Her name was Elizabeth." "Was she...beautiful?" Dominic smiled at me and he said to me. "She was more than beautiful, she was like a Goddess. She had beautiful blonde hair, sky blue eyes and fair skin." Dominic described her to me with a sad smile on his face. "What happened to her? you know after..." "I don't know. After Leila placed that curse on me, I didn't realise at the time it would turn me into a dragon. Elizabeth warned me over and over again about killing a dragon and angering that sorceress but, I didn't listen until it was too late. I tried to go back to Whitebrook castle but when I got there...Elizabeth ordered my men, my soldiers, to kill me." I was shocked by this and then Dominic continued. "Elizabeth was so afraid of me that she ordered the Whitebrook soldiers to kill me. I tried to explain to her that despite the curse, I was still the man she loved but, she wouldn't listen to reason." "And then you left Whitebrook castle without a trace or letting anyone know where you had gone. Just like it spoke in the legend about you." Dominic nodded his head. I couldn't help but, hug him tightly which took him by surprise. "I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that alone." "Hey, don't give me that sad look. It's all over now." Dominic spoke with a smile as he hugged me back. "I'm not alone anymore. I have you and the other dragons. I'm not so lonely anymore, am I?" I shook my head for a no and then Dominic pulled away from me with a smile on his face. "But, enough of the past, we always have to keep looking forward to the future, don't we?" I nodded my head and then he asked me. "That reminds me, did you remember to bring your duffle bag?" "Yeah, I gave it to Alexa yesterday to bring it here." "And did you pack a change of clothes and a swimming costume?" "Yes, I did. You told me to because I'm staying overnight. Why?" "Well, you better get changed into it because we're going to Mermaid's cove." "Mermaids? how many creatures do you have?" "I lost count." I giggled when he said this and then I headed into the mansion to get changed. I got to one of the guest rooms and I got changed. I wore my blue bikini and I wore my black tracksuit on top of it. I took off my locket and I put it in my bag to keep it safe. Once I was changed Dominic was outside waiting for me and he was in his dragon form. I petted his face and then I climbed onto his back. Dominic or Scorch, whoever was in control right now, flew over the forest and then we got to a large lake and I saw mermaids and a few water dragons. I smiled at this view and then Scorch landed on the ground. I climbed off his back and then Dominic turned back into his human form. "Look! it's Dominic!" One of the mermaids shouted before looking back at him. "Hello, Dominic!" "Hi, Dominic!" "Welcome back Dominic!" The water dragons growled and then they used their waves to scare them off. The mermaids screamed in fear before swimming away in fear. I giggled a little and then I said to him. "I take it the water dragons and mermaids don't get along so well?" "They get along fine but, since the dragons heard about you, they want to make sure that all of the women except for you, stay away from me." I got the picture and then we approached the water. The water dragon came over to us and she told us. "My Lord, the mermaids know you've got your mate. They will stay away from here for a while, although some of them want to meet her." "And taking the risk of letting them drown her? I don't think so." I understood his point and then the water dragon swam away. Dominic looked at me and he said to me. "Shall we go for a swim?" I nodded my head and before I took off my tracksuit, I looked at Dominic and I glared at him. "Excuse me! do you mind?!" "Oh, sorry." Dominic told me as he turned his back towards me so he wasn't looking. I unzipped my hoodie and I took off my pants and shoes. I folded my clothes and sat them away from the lake so they didn't get soaked. "Okay, you can look now." Dominic looked at me and then he blushed a little when he saw my bikini. "Um...is something the matter?" "Hm? no, not at all." Dominic told me as he got changed out of his clothes and he was wearing his black swimming trunks. Dominic picks me up like a bride and then I held onto his neck. "Ah! Dominic! don't you dare!" "Don't do what?" Dominic asked with a smirk on his face. He walked towards the water and then he tosses me into the water. I surfaced and I heard Dominic laughing. I glared at him and shouted. "You're so gonna pay for that!" Dominic chuckled before diving into the water. I giggled as well as I swam away from him. I looked around for him and then I felt someone's hand on my ankle and then I was pulled under. Once I was pulled under the water by Dominic. We smiled at each other before he grabbed my hand and started swimming. As we swam underwater, I spotted a few water dragons and their hatchlings along with some mermaids. They waved at me and I waved back to them. The mermaids swam around us and then a mermaid with red hair swam over to us and she smiled at us. "Lord Dominic, I have to say, your mate is beautiful." I blushed a little when she said this. Dominic nodded his heading agreement. "Here, I wanted to give this to her, as our way of saying welcome to Mermaid's cove," The red-haired mermaid told me before placing a necklace around my neck. It was a shiny mermaid's scale and for some reason, I feel like I can breathe underwater. "It's from my tail. If you wear this, it can help you breathe underwater." I was surprised by this and then I tried to speak but water got in my mouth and then the mermaid laughed at me. "I said you can breathe underwater but, you can't speak underwater, for obvious reasons, however, you can still mind link us, give it a try." "Like this? just talking out loud in my thoughts?" The mermaid nodded her head and then she said to me. "I gotta go, oh and by the way, my name is Adrienne. See you later." Adrienne told me before swimming away. Dominic held my hand and then he started swimming back to the surface. When we did, I took a few deep breaths and Dominic chuckled a little. "Looks like the mermaids like you too. If I didn't know any better I'd say your aura is attracting my friends, in a good way." "I think so, I better make sure to take good care of this," I said as I looked at the scale that Adrienne gave me. Dominic smiled at me and then he swam over to me before wrapping his arms around my waist. I smiled back at him and then I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Amelia..." "Hm?" "Is it....is it okay if I kissed you?" I blushed a little when he asked me this and then I nodded my head. I closed my eyes and then I felt his lips pressing against mine. This was my first kiss and I was glad that I gave it to Dominic. I kissed him back and then the kiss deepened. We pulled away from each other to breathe and then we smiled at each other before we hugged in each other's arms.
