Jealous
HANNA MALIA FRIGATE SHIP,
The sea of Ervana, East of the Elydrian Continent
2420 AA, After the Great Ascension.
"What are you glaring at?" Gabriel spoke from behind her and Calla turned to glare back at the junior lieutenant who was always grating at her nerves.
"I am NOT glaring!" she stated firmly before turning back to the Captain. "Surely Captain, you don't believe him now, do you?"
"About the glaring or my story?"
"Arggh Connors! Will you just quit it? You know what I mean!" she exploded, her irritation growing to the point that she was short of stamping her feet to air out her frustrations.
"But I am telling the truth. I was there and I saw it. The girl exploded into a ball of light and then, all the wyverns just flew away or was it dissipated into a cloud of dark vapour?" a hand found its way to his chin, his forehead furrowing as he seemed to ponder that statement for a while.
"Really? " Killion thought as he laughed internally. Was he aware that his self doubt would raise more questions with Calla or was he doing it intentionally in order to further earn her ire? Having had his own encounter with Havillah, he understood him however. For the things that happened around that Great would have any human questioning his own sanity let alone his own eyes. "Well...they disappeared into a cloud of black vapour!" he suddenly threw out, deciding to go with that for the time being.
"Oh please! Captain! We've already tried that countless times before and it has never worked out! Why would it work now and for her" of all people. Killion could almost hear her think as she riposted. Directing her sentiments towards him, who was apparently calmly seated on his seat upon the bridge. He was not calm however, even with his hands folded beneath his chin and the bored expression that had found its way to his visage thank you to the shenanigans of his two fighting teammates. No, how could he, when he had the surprise guest that was now lodging in his cabin just a few metres below deck?
"I am telling you it worked! And pretty well at that!" Connors yelled as he took a step forward ready to confront her. He appeared intimidating as he drove his point home and for a moment, Killion worried that he would strike her just to prove his point.
"Back down Connors, you too Barrageway." he finally stepped in. His hands had dropped hands from his chin and h8s back had straightened even as he adopted a more commanding mien.
"Anyway, I am going to speak to Havillah and after that, I will see how well we can handle the situation." He said to the two fighting officers.

Calla rolled her eyes in annoyance. That is before she turned away in a huff and refused to look at the two of them. Behind her, Gabriel smirked, happy to have received the Captain's sentiments as a proof of a personal victory over the woman.
"So you believe me right? I swear this is not one of those instances where... "
"I know." Killion smiled as he laughed silently at what was not said. True, Gabriel Connors had a knack for being nutty, but in this instance he could tell without a doubt that the younger man was not fibbing. After all this was Havillah they were talking about. He had not known her for long. For just a few hours actually, but he was truly aware that abnormal things tended to happen where she was involved. In fact nothing about her was normal where human beings were concerned. But had she not said it? That she was not human but a Great whatever that meant?
With a heavy sigh, he stood up. There were more questions than answers but it was also true that they may have finally found a breakthrough and he intended to exploit it to the maximum if it meant saving a few more lives.
"Sorry Havillah. " he thought as he reached out a hand to grip the arm of the junior lieutenant. .
"I believe you Gabriel. I know Havillah or at least, I like to think that I do, and if she is capable of flying that small sailing boat of yours all the way from the docks to here. Then, I don't have any doubt that she is also capable of doing all that you have told us she was able to accomplish."

"Right now however…" he trailed off as a cabin boy came in sauntering into the room. " Anyway, We'll talk later," he added as he wandered off to meet the boy. "What is it?"
"A message!" The boy rasped out as he tried to salute. "The Lady... the lady Havillah is awake and she was just now asking for you."
"Is that so?" he smiled.
That seemed to catch Calla's attention and she turned to regard the pair with what could only be described as a ‘renewed' interest. "Captain," she tried to call out, but he was already leaving with the messenger.
"Let's go. Inform the kitchen to prepare something. We will be there shortly and you two," He added as he turned back to the two officers, "Like I said, we will discuss this later after I have spoken to her. For now, you are both dismissed." with that, he turned around and continued to walk out headed down to his cabin.

"Killion?" A soft voice called out from behind him. It had been a while since she had last used his name like this and because of that, he stopped in his tracks and turned around to face her.
What did she want now? He could not imagine what it was that she had in mind and it tired him to even try to think about it.
"Killion-" she jogged over and stepped infront of him.
'This woman ..." he thought in irritation as he regarded her. He could see it in her eyes that she meant to cause him trouble.
"Look here Barrageway," he started, refusing to call her by her given name like she had just done with him. Even as he did so, he could only hope that she would grasp it. It wasn't so hard now, was it? For her to understand that the two of them could never amount to anything? She must have realised it by now, but why did she not give up? Why was she still pursuing him?
"Killion-" her voice once again disrupted his thoughts and he hurried thinking fast that he had to stop her before she said anything that would further serve to annoy him.
"I really do not have time for this. I am entertaining a guest which you know quite well and I cannot afford to continue to keep her waiting." With that, he side steeped her and continued walking down the corridor.
"But Killion..." she tried again, but he ignored her.

Her fists curled up as she seethed in anger at his brashness knowing well that he was not even trying to hide it. Was his regard for her feelings now inexistent and all because of that thing?
She started after him now muttering expletives. What had she been waiting for? For a slip of a girl to come around and ruin all her hard work? Calla lengthened her strides and was determined to follow him, but the hand that shot out from behind her managed to stop her.
It was Connors after all. The annoying bugger. Not only had he jumped in her way but he was now holding her back with a warning look in his eyes.
"Sergeant!"
She ignored him and even tried to shake her off but the junior lieutenant sidestepped her. The grip on her hand growing tighter as he began to pull her in the opposite direction.
'Let go!" she hissed as she tried to get loose. "Let go of me this instant!"
"Not until you remember your place Sergeant. I hate to pull rank on you so I will tell you this. You two may have grown up together, but he is still our Captain and he has just given us his orders."
Calla turned and glared at him. lamenting the misfortune that had caused this man to end up in a rank that was several tiers above hers. He was yet to pull rank as he had said and wary of the embarrassment that would obviously come from being ordered around by this ‘boy' who was several years her junior, she finally decided to let it go. For now at least. Until a better opportunity presented itself and she managed to deal with the nuisance once and fall.
"It does not matter what deal existed between the two of you." he continued to tell her. "You will only push him away if you continue to persist in this way." He added after he misread her hesitation for adamance.
"Let go." The woman growled back in response before wrenching off her arm from his loosened grip. She heeded his advice and turned around to stomp off in the direction that he had previously been pulling her.
Gabriel looked down at his hand and then at her receding backline.
"Crazy woman! " He shook his head at her tendencies before he retracing his steps back to the bridge with a deep frown now etched upon his face.
