CHAPTER 9
Apollo was furious. Who did she think she was coming into his temple and messing up how things were? And Elijah! That bumbling idiot should have been able to handle the situation better. If anything, he was supposed to not let her enter the temple in the first place. Where was the idiot now?
ËLIJAH!!" His voice boomed through the chamber and the wolf came inside it slowly. 'I have half a mind to kill you for this stupidity you pulled. Why didn't you handle it yourself? Why did you have to call me out when you knew all she wanted to do was gloat"
'What she was doing out there was blaspheming, not gloating. And she had the support of all the people, I couldn't arrest her, they would have turned on me"
'When will you finally stop seeking their approval for everything you're doing?" Apollo groaned in frustration, 'You lead these people. You lead them for me, not for you. or have you forgotten who gave you this position?"
'N-n-no. I haven't forgotten" Elijah started to back up unto the wall as the priest was closing in on him with a look of hatred and disgust.
'Have you forgotten how broken you were before I pieced you back together and placed you here. Shall I remind you? because if that's what you want, breaking you down shouldn't be a problem, I just worry I won't be able to put you back together again."
'No need for that. I'll – uhm – I'll take care of it, Apollo."
'It's too late for that now. The girl has boxed us up, now we have to give her the fight she wants. And we have to give it to her openly, show anyone who will dare repeat what she did that we are not to be messed with."

Elijah went to the basement cages to check on their latest prisoner. The girl certainly had a death wish to have dared that. No one tries Apollo and comes out of it unscathed. Apollo didn't work for Leto, he knew that much, but he did have some supernatural help. When he was a much younger wolf, Apollo was a wolf himself, an Omega in his previous pack before he finally got kicked out and he came here to live out his days.
When Elijah was younger, he almost died at the hand of other wolves in his pack. He was born the son of the pack's Alpha, but his dark coat was too much of a contrast from his father's silver-grey one. There were whispers of his mother's infidelity while she was alive, but when she finally died from an encounter with humans, the whispers became full of words, words that were spoken to his face.
His father never bothered to affirm his parentage, his father never bothered with anything besides keeping his place as Alpha, so when the words started getting accompanied with blows and bites, his father couldn't care less. Until one day, he was cornered by three bigger wolves and beaten near to death. He recognized the wolves to be one of the ones who wanted his father's position; they must have thought that the death of his son would somehow affect his father and make him vulnerable to attack. Apollo was his only salvation that day. Somehow, Apollo managed to shift forms in broad daylight and he tore out the leg of one of his attackers. He sunk his teeth so deep into the neck of the other that all the man could do was lie there and bleed to death. The third took the cue and ran off as fast as his two legs could take him, any wolf who could shift in the middle of the day was certainly not one you can try to fight.
He did not go back to his pack that day. No one in his pack would defend him as Apollo did.
He looked into Alina's cell and saw what seemed like amusement in the girl's eyes. This one was not brave, just incredibly stupid.
'You will die tonight. And it will be no one's fault but yours. You should start thinking about your last words.

'Alina is not my daughter, she's simply a rogue who needs to be taught a lesson" Alpha Thomas was saying. He had finally found a wizard to replace the one he lost. This one seemed even more powerful than the other, he was just what Thomas needed. Unfortunately, this wizard had an immensely disgusting amount of sympathy for things and that wouldn't do for the work Thomas needed him for.
'If my daughter was cursed by the gods like that, I'll be focused on thinking of how to bring her back to the fold, not hatching up a plan to escort her to the underworld."
'Well, wizard, I am not you. She insulted me twice now and deserves to be paid back for it"
'Unfortunately, Alpha Thomas, I am not in the business of paying back."
'I am taking note of all the people who have turned me away in my quest for revenge. I can assure you, once I have dealt with Alina, you all will get a bit of the payback I prepared for the wretched girl. Who knows, maybe you will even live long enough to tell how it tastes."
The wizard laughed heartily. 'Don't tell me I'm supposed to be scared of a wolf that was overpowered by his daughter, not once but twice. Get a grip."
Alpha Thomas clenched his teeth and stormed out of yet another grove. He had three people to kill now. He was going to be so satisfied watching them bleed.
