Chapter 5 Sam's Story (Extra)
Sam's Story (Extra)
Today's the day I marry Kat.
As she walks down the aisle, I remember the first time I saw her. We were kids, and I had just moved here. She was dressed up in this white princess dress, playing make-believe.
Later, she wore that same dress when she stood up for me against my stepmom.
On the day my dad and stepmom finally split, Kat held my hand and promised she'd always protect me.
Now, here she is, radiant in her wedding dress, a sweet smile on her face as she walks towards me.
I lean down, resting my head on her shoulder, and whisper, "I'll protect you, always. I swear it, with everything I have."
Later, Kat's hugging that stuffed bunny I got her, watching me pack for my trip.
I wipe away a stray tear. "Hey, it's just a business trip. I'm not going off to war or anything. I'll be back in a week."
She shoves the bunny into my suitcase. "Can she come with you?"
I pinch her cheek, teasing. "You mean, can her owner come with me?"
She laughs, the tears forgotten. "Of course! Miss Bunny needs to make sure you actually like her owner. Plus, her owner's going to miss you like crazy."
I tuck the bunny safely into my bag and help her finish packing. "Then it's settled. Miss Bunny and her owner are coming along."
