Chapter 47
"Hello." I heard a voice say behind me after I was sitting there for five minutes. I turned around to see who the voice belonged to.
My eyes widen in surprise as I saw Andrea. She stood with a smile on her face that didn't seem friendly at all. In fact it looked forced.
"Hello." I said hesitantly, not sure why she was talking to me.
She walked around the bench and came and stood in front of me. "Emily right?" She asked and I nodded my head.
"I know Tyler must have told you about me. We used to date." She related. I didn't know why she was telling me this. I looked at her not say anything, so she continued. "I'm just giving you a heads up, don't get too comfortable."
"What?" I asked, confused as to what she was talking about.
She crossed her arms and gave me a pointed look. "I said don't get too comfortable being with Tyler. It's not going to last."
She didn't know that Tyler and I were fake dating and she also didn't know that we ended it. However, I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of telling her that, so I decided to just go along with it. "Why would you say that?"
She gave a short laugh that I thought to be condescending. "Tyler and I are end game. We're meant for each other. I just wanted you to know that it will only be a matter of time, before he leaves you."
Who did this girl think she was? She was so full of herself, that was for sure.
Well, I wasn't going to let her get the better of me, so I stood up from the bench. "I wish I could stay here and indulge in this pointless conversation with you, but I have to be going. Also, I don't have to sit here and listen to you."
Ignoring what I said, Andrea just smiled sweetly. "Please don't embarrass yourself. Tyler doesn't want you and I can see why. Just look at you." As she said that she looked at me from head to toe with a snicker on her lips. "I don't know what sick game he is playing by dating you, because honestly you're not his type. He told me himself that he's going to end it with you so that we could be together again."
I froze at her words. So Tyler was definitely going to end our fake dating before I did. I know he had all right to end it, but it still hurt like hell knowing that.
However, I wasn't going to stay here and let her talk to me this way.
"This conversation is over." I replied as I turned and walked away, without saying anything else to her.
As I turned around, I caught sight of her watching me with a victorious smile on her face.
Tyler's POV
After school on Wednesday, Seth and I drove into town where Seth picked up a few things. We also stopped at his uncle's antique shop for a small visit, but ended up being there for longer.
On our way back, we decided to drive to a place where we usually hang out. It was an old abandoned playground that was a fifteen minutes drive from our school. We would normally come here to hang out before going home. It has been a while since we stopped here so we decided to do so today.
Today wasn't any different than the other days we stop here. We were here for almost an hour now just chilling and talking about nothing in particular; just random topics. Seth was settled on top of a bench with his feet on the sitting area and I sat a few feet in front of him on a tree stomp with my back leaning on a tree.
Most of the time we were talking however, I was a little distracted. I couldn't help it. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop thinking about how things turned out with Emily and I. I knew that our fake dating had to come to an end, but deep down I wish it didn't. Even though I didn't want to admit it, I miss her.
Trying my best not to think about it anymore, I took out my phone from my pocket and began to scroll through my news feed on Instagram.
"Are you texting Emily?" Seth asked. Looking up from my phone, I looked at him. He was no longer in a sitting position. He was laying on his back on the bench top with his hand being his head. He wasn't looking at me though. He was staring up at the sky.
I shook my head. "No, I'm not. Why would you think that?" I asked.
He didn't answer me. In fact, he fell into silence. Shaking my head, I went back to my phone.
"Dude, you are so stupid." Seth said suddenly.
I gave him a confused look. "What are you talking about Seth?"
"I'm talking about Emily. It's obvious even to a blind person that you like her." Seth replied.
I shook my head adamantly. "No, I don't." I denied.
Seth sat up in a sitting position on the bench once again and faced me. He cut me off before I could even say anything else. "Oh yes you do. You can't fool me. You're just too damn coward to even admit it to yourself."
"There is nothing to admit. Emily and I had a deal and now it's over." I said. "There is nothing more to it."
"It was more than that man and you know it." Seth countered pointing an accusing finger at me.
I opened my mouth to contradict him, but closed it instantly. I really didn't have anything to say, because he was right. He was right about everything. I need to stop denying it.
