Chapter 21- Making him jealous.
Alex's POV.
In the middle of our private 7,600 square feet ballroom and I stood there wearing a blue 3 piece suit, with a Pink bow tie and blue formal shoes.
My eyes kept on flicking on the stairs waiting for Sasha to arrive. What is wrong? She never take so long to get ready. Is she fine? Did something happened to her? I haven't seen her since last night. Panic rushed through my veins and I was about to rush through the stairs when my mother pulled me in the middle and started engaging me with a talk with the mayor. Mayor Adam, Daisy's father!
"Look Daisy has arrived." He declared as all eyes went to the entrance where Daisy stepped in like a celebrity. The lights dim and a stage light beamed on the door, as Daisy took a dramatic entry, with maids on her side and flowers showering on her, wearing a pink Princess gown as her hair were tied up in a fancy bun and a crown fit her head perfectly. I wouldn't lie, she is the most gorgeous girl but I am not a man who falls for beauty. For me everything that matters is a heart. A loving heart. Sasha may be clumsy and for her these heels and girlish things may not fit well but she have a heart a personality Daisy can never possess.
Daisy haven't yet entered in with her dramatic entry, when someone asked, "But who is there on the stairs?"
Like everyone else on the room, I too turned to have a look on the stairs. Under the dim golden light, shined a face so glorious so beautiful. The spot light shifted from Daisy to the stairs so that people can have a better look at the person glowing on the stairs.
Her eyes were on the ground as her eye lids sparkled with silver. Her rosy lips were slightly curved as a crimson shade were evident i her pearly white cheeks, as she blushed sweetly. With slow steps she walked down the stairs, wearing a glittering silver heels and a magical dress, adorned with a magical blue chiffons and glittering silver gems, and this dress flaunted her curves so perfectly. It was along feet length dress, but as she took steps downwards her creamy white leg was in display from the slit on the right side of her dress. Her hair? They looked totally different. The color was indeed same but length-wise? They were long, much longer than before. Did she grew hair in a day? The reached her waist, and was adorned with a heavy piece of silver tiara. She looked like a Barbie doll. So beautiful, so elegant. Damn! I get hot!
Sara was right, I was unable to blink my eyes off her, she was breathtakingly gorgeous. She halted on the mid stairs as the flashes of camera captured her. And for the first time in a while, her blue eyes shifted on me. Till now my eyes were frozen on her but now my heart, my whole body was focused on her, only her. Those waves of blue ocean in her eyes, caused a waterfall of emotions in my heart. A wide range of desire arouse in me and all I wanted now was her. Her eyes softened pleasing me for help.
I walked towards her on the stairs, taking her hand in mine and helping her deal with this limelight she wasn't used to. She was ruining this ball like a queen. And just like me everyone in the party forgot Daisy and was curious just to know who this beautiful lady was.
I pulled her in the middle of the ballroom with me where my mother and other important guests were. I saw Daisy who stood by her mother, glaring at me, but I cared least.
"Mr. Stafford, Won't you introduce this beautiful lady?"
Asked a young man, as the other nodded.
"Ladies and Gentlemen," I announced, grabbing Sasha's hand and raising it in the air, "Meet Miss Sasha Wellan, a very special friend of mine."
"Alex." Sasha whispered blushing furiously.
Oh! That blush on her cheeks! She will be the death of me.
Claps and praises filled in the room as probed with excitement.
"Make yourself comfortable." I murmured to her, handing her a blue cocktail."
She hesitated for a bit but then accepted it.
"You look drop dead gorgeous. I am sure many are going to loose their hearts today."
"Really!" She grinned but it fell as soon as mom joined us.
"Hello," she smiled, "You saw the magic of your mom? Didn't I totally changed a village girl into a royal?"
I rolled my eyes at her worthless words.
"Sasha, look I have chafed your clothings but only you can change your personality. I know you had never attended a royal party or a ball, but please try to be as graceful as you can. Please don't spoil our reputation."
"Mom please!" I interjected but she ignored me and held Sasha's hands, "you look amazing feel good, there are many rich boys, go and enjoy yourself."
She turned to me and said, "And Alex, Be with your fiancée!"
I rolled my eyes at her. Fiancée? I don't need one!
———
Sasha's POV.
"Will you dance with me?" Alex asked as I sat on a chair.
"Me?" I questioned pointing a finger on my chest.
"Yes, you pretty girl." He chuckled and so couldn't hold back my smile.
"What are you doing here MR. Stafford?" I played around, "when your fiancée, your soul mate and your love is standing there all alone."
"I am a person for whom friends are more important than dates Miss Wellan."
Before I could answer, he pulled me with him on the dance floor. My silver heels clicked on the emerald green dance floor. This ballroom was a mash up of ancient and modern party. With an ancient tradition of ball dance and food but a modern aura and drinks.
Alex's hand rested on the small of my back, as he moved me with the beats under the crystal chandeliers and golden lights.
Everything around was a compliment of bottle green and gold color, with a hint of white combination. From the exquisite vases placed all's round with white lilies in them to the white jasmine flavored scented candles placed all over, the delicate bottle green and gold crockery to elegant table mats and from satin ribbons tied on stair rails and chairs everything spoke elegance and fashion.
"I must say, Madame Rosé taste and selection are up to the point. No one can beat her celebrations." I heard a rich woman gossiping.
"Yes. Can't you see the girl she chose for her son. She is so gorgeous and from a perfect family." The other one replied.
Though I was in Alex's arm, my eyes roamed all around, maybe because this party was too foreign for me. Madame Rosé was right, I had never attended any ball party before.
"Yes. But look at that lady with Alex. I didn't knew Madame Rosé would choose perfect friends for her child? Like just look at that girl she is beautiful, her fashion sense, it's so modern and rich. I think she must be a princess or a heiress. She looks royal." At the woman's words I realized how wrong she was. Madame Rose indeed tries her best to make me look classy but do I really belong here? With Alex?
"I think there is something cooking between Alex and her. Just look at how he sees her. Only a love struck puppy can see at a hit like that."
I looked at Alex and realized him looking at me. He was so engrossed in the dance that I am sure he didn't heard any of their words but I did. And I haven't forgotten where I belong and who I am. As Madame Rose said, he should be with his fiancé and not me.
I dropped my hand from his shoulder and took a step back.
He arched his brow and I tried to speak, "I-Excuse me!" I blurred out and rushed towards the balcony.
My heart was thumping wildly and begging me to return in his embrace and feel him close to me but my mind was totally against it. First I thought I was an employee for Stafford but I wasn't. Alex brought me here just to refresh my mind from Salazar and Saturday incident. I am just a guest in Stafford family. And I should act like one instead of getting close to the Senorito and spoiling his name.
The weather was chilling and calming to my soul. I stood there holding on the railing. I touched my fake long hair, it looked beautiful on me, I think I should grow my hair long instead of cutting them short.
"A beautiful girl standing in the balcony alone." A male voice entered my ear, I s pinned to meet the person.
"Can be either heart broken or hungry?"
He furrowed my brows, "Excuse me!"
He scratched his neatly shaved jaw. He was tall and handsome. His hair was a shade of bronze that reached to her ears and was tied back with an elastic band. His eyes were a shade of dark brown that would have been mistaken as black if he wasn't standing in under the gold chandelier light. He wore a brown suit with leather shoes.
"Henry. Henry Gale, the mayor's one and only handsome son."
His charisma forced me to talk to him but when he boasted his name and fame, his presence instantly felt a burden on my shoulders. I just wanted him to leave me alone.
Though I felt as lonely as a crow and I really needed someone to talk to, I wanted to push him back.
Without answering him, I turned towards the dark sky, ignoring his presence. But instead of leaving me alone he walked beside me.
"The evening is beautiful and so are you." He said over the soft music of orchestra playing in the background. "Will you dance with me?"
I glanced at him and replied a stern no!
"Look at the dance floor, everyone is enjoying themselves even your special friend." The way he emphasized the word 'special' and 'friend' was enough to tell me he hates Alex.
I don't know why but I turned with his words and peeked at the dance floor that was filled with couples dancing around and there in the middle was my heartless heartbreaker, Mr. Alex Stafford, dancing with his gorgeous fiancée Daisy.
This guy confuses me so much. When he is with me I feel he loves me but when he is with Daisy I feel like I am nothing to him. What should I do to know his true feelings?
'Make him feel what you are feeling.' My subconscious mind informed me.
But how?
'By doing what he is doing. Don't you remember the blazing fire in his eyes when he saw you with Jane? Let the pay repeat and see how he behaves.'
Are you serious?
'Yes. Make him jealous.'
I took a deep sighed and nod my head.
"Should I take it as a yes?" Henry questioned offering me his hand and unwillingly I accepted it. I am just tired of this mixed feelings. Today Alex will have to tell me the truth. By hook or by crook!
Henry wasn't like Jane. He was a gentleman who was very keen about my comfort.
"Actually I am not very good at dancing. Especially ball dances." I blurted out the trusts to avoid future embarrassments.
"Don't worry princess, You are dancing with me, I will make you dance on my steps." he said and held my hand and my waist not before asking for permission. For a second I hesitated but as soon as I noticed Alex, I nodded in affirmation. He moved me with him so gracefully.
While I danced with Alex, Alex kept in mind that I don't know ball dance and we were just swinging, but this guy really knows how to swirl a girl on his fingertips. He made me move, swirl, and even do a fall step. I just didn't realized how I was moving. It all felt effortless. "And see how well you can dance." He smiled and I couldn't help but reflect his smile. I think I can be just friends with him.
And then came the most difficult part of this dance, the time to swap partners. The music rolled and so did the partners, unluckily, I was rolled on my left, before a young man could hold my hand, Alex pulled me closer to her.
All my confidence flowed like a river as I met with his green eyes filled with fire. I could clearly see the fury growing in them. Was he jealous?
"Enjoying with that Gale huh!" He interjected and my evil mind begged me to play further with him.
"Yes, as much as you enjoy dancing with Daisy." As soon as those words left my mouth, his grip tightened on my waist.
'Just a little more' yes, it was my subconscious mind, once again.
"You are getting engaged, I think I should also settle down now. I think I am ready for marriage now. I should start looking for guys."
His eyes were blazing fire. I knew I was going in the right direction. I am sure, this trick will work and soon I will discover weather I am just a friend to him or he thinks something else for me.
"You know Henry? He is really a good dancer and a good man too."
Just before I could speak further he pulled me towards him. His fragrance invaded my nostrils, my heart pumped in my chest as the butterflies made their way down my tummy once again. His eyes bored holes in my soul as his breath fanned my face making me shiver in a good way.
But before I could decipher the jealousy in his eyes he twirled me in his finger, his steps were faster as he made me dance in his moves. I don't know how I was still on my feet because he was toast for me. I gasped as the floor slipped beneath my feet and I was in the air, as my fingers clutched his shoulder and my butt stiffened in his gold. Just like me he was too grasping for air. His gaze was emotionless as after years he put me down on my feet and rebuked, " Now tell me who is a good dancer."
I could smell him burning with jealousy.
'Just a little more.' My subconscious mind insisted and I smirked at him, "He!" I pushed my curls behind that in return touched his face before following me, falling on my back.
I couldn't help smiling, I just love it when he is jealous for me.
Sometimes I think he is not serious with Daisy. Sometimes I feel he is not happy with her, but if that is the case why did he got engaged with her and why is he still looking forward to marry her!
