Chapter 7

Astrid got to class and was happy that at least she was early today. She took her seat at the back because that was the only available seat Remaining. She looked for Jane but couldn't find her, so she placed her head on the table. Aside from Olivia, Jane is also Astrid's friend, they are in the same Department which is the English department. Soon Jane came in and sat close to her, making her raise her head. "Where have you been?I thought you'd be here before me, but turns out you were going to be late" Astrid said and when Jane was about to reply, the lecturer came in and everyone went silent. The lecturer took his stand at the front of the class after dropping the books that were with him. "Your test is just around the corner, and we've not done half of what's in the scheme for this semester, so I'm going to give a group assignment, you'd work on it, and submit it next week" He said and went back to collect the book he placed on the table "I'm going to Paste the names of everyone in the post board, when you're done with today's classes, you can go check your names and see your partners" he said again and walked to the smart board, before starting his class. ********* "Gosh, Mr Goldminner wants to kill us, how can he teach for four hours straight without stopping, are we computers?" Jane complained. They were done with Mr Goldminner's class, and they were left with just one class, so they were walking to the Cafeteria to grab some snacks before going back to class. "I don't see anything wrong with that, you're just lazy, that's all." Astrid said "Why won't you say that, when you're smart" Jane scoffed. "I don't have your time right now, I'm so famished, I didn't eat breakfast before rushing to school thinking I was late already" Astrid sighed but got no response from Jane, so she traced her eyes and found out she was looking at Kingston, the school's most popular playboy. "I don't know why you have a crush on that thing, like seriously, Jane he's a playboy, who knows nothing other than getting into everything under skirts," Astrid complained. "But still, He's cute, I can't help but fall helplessly for him," she said dreamingly. "Suit yourself, I pray you don't get hurt in the process" Astrid said as they finally got to the cafeteria. They walked to the counter and ordered what they'd eat, Astrid was about to pay when someone said from behind. "I'd pay for what they ordered" Both Astrid and Jane turned back, and saw it was Martins. Martins has a crush on Astrid, and has been begging her to date him, but each time he asks her out, she'd turn him down telling him she's not interested in any form of relationship, and since then she has been avoiding him, but he keeps coming, which annoys her. "Martins I've told you time without numbers, leave me alone, stop stalking me" She said with a scoff. "I'm not stalking you, I'm just trying to help by paying for the food you bought" He replied calmly. "And who said I can't pay for my food?" She asked angrily, one thing she hates is when someone is trying to pay for what she bought, it makes her look helpless as though she can't afford the things herself. All this while, Jane has been looking at them without saying a word, but when her stomach rumbled, she faced them. "Who's paying for the food, I'm hungry, even the worms in my tummy are protesting already" she said. "I'll pay" Astrid and Martins said at the same time,Astrid looked at Martins and faced Jane. "You know what, I lost my appetite, I'm off see you in class" She said and started walking away "Wait for me," Jane said. "We don't have to walk together all the time, get what you want and meet me in class" She said and walked out. "I'm sorry about what my friend did earlier, she hates when someone tries to pay for her things" Jane said facing Martins. "It's fine, I just want to be her friend, since she doesn't want to be in any relationship, I'd beg her if need be" he said and paid for Jane's food before going. *Gosh, I can't believe you Astrid* she said to herself before going out of the cafeteria too. *********** "Sir, the representative from D'and D group of company is here" Alex informed Robin who was still working on his laptop. "Go, I'd be out in a second" he said not looking away from the system "OK sir" he bowed and left the office ********** "Thanks for honoring our invitation, I'm looking forward to working with you"Robin said shaking hands with the representative from D'and D "Thank you sir" Mr Willow who's the representative said They just finished the meeting, and it was a success, they all walked out and Robin immediately walked to his office, he rang the bell on the table, and immediately alex came in "Cancel the remaining schedule for today, and post a notice to fill in Julia's place, I need to prepare for the date with my fiancée" He said talking on the phone from the table and walked out. He got to the park, and entered the car. The driver wasted no time before the driver left. They got to his mansion in less than ten minutes, he got down and walked inside with his briefcase. The maids greeted him, but he only nodded and walked inside. "Why am I so worked up about the date, it's not as if I love her, it's just some damn contract marriage" he said to himself when he realized he has been doing too much, he ran his hand through his hair, and sat on the bed.. He took his phone and called Astrid, she picked up when the call was about to end. "I'll send my driver to come pick you up by 7pm" he said "OK, I'd be waiting" Astrid said "Bye" He said and hung up before walking into his bathroom.
