Chapter 62
The collaboration was settled, and Nevers moved quickly. That afternoon, they provided preliminary cooperation details and listed their contract requirements.
After returning home from work, Aurora sent a message saying that he had already sent the organized documents to Stella's email.
Stella sat down at her desk and opened her laptop. She was about to pull up the documents when she realized that the computer couldn't connect to the WiFi. Even after trying to plug in the Ethernet cable, there was still no internet.
With a business trip scheduled for tomorrow, it was clear that these matters needed to be resolved today so Aurora could provide further responses to Nevers.
Reluctantly, she grabbed her laptop and headed to the study. The study door was open, and at a glance, she saw Ethan sitting in front of the computer in a suit, looking serious, as if he were in a video conference.
Seeing Stella standing at the door, the man put down his hand, which had been propping up his nose, and said, "Take a half-hour break, we'll continue later."
Then he closed the video.
"What's wrong?" he raised an eyebrow, asking her.
Stella pursed her lips. "The laptop is broken."
This morning, she had vowed to annoy Ethan, but now she had to approach him voluntarily. Feeling somewhat embarrassed, she realized her anger lacked persistence.
"Okay, let me take a look." The man took the laptop from her hand and fiddled with it for a while before furrowing his brow. "The network card is broken. If you're in a hurry, you can use this one for now."
Ethan handed Stella another lighter laptop, the one he usually used at home.
Stella glanced at him, thinking she still needed to reply to Aurora. Without refusing, she lightly grunted and reached out to take it. But her expression subtly indicated that while she would focus on work, she wasn't ready to let go of her frustration so easily.
Carrying the laptop back to her room, an hour later, Stella finally finished the tasks at hand. Without having had time to finish her meal, she grabbed some snacks from the drawer to tide her over. Thinking about tomorrow's business trip, she opened the browser to check the weather in Kenwest.
As soon as she clicked on the search bar, a few historical search records popped up below.
"Ten Standards of a Good Husband"
"20-Day Crash Course to Being a Good Husband"
"Essential Repair Skills for Outstanding Men"
After pausing for a moment, amidst her inner conflict, Stella finally couldn't resist her curiosity and clicked on the link.
As Ethan finished his phone call with the overseas branch, he walked downstairs just as Stella was about to enter the kitchen to cook.
Catching sight of him, she smiled and asked, "What do you want to eat?"
Ethan raised his eyebrows in surprise. He couldn't understand how the person who had just intentionally put on a stern face to be angry had suddenly become gentle again.
In hesitation, he slowly replied, "I kind of want to eat pasta."
"Okay."
30 minutes later, the two of them sat down at the dining table. There were two plates of pasta on it.
"Let's eat," Stella handed him the fork.
Ethan took them and narrowed his eyes, asking, "What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing," she raised her gaze to look at him, then added, "It's just that I feel like you're a bit cuter today."
Discovering that he was secretly searching for how to fix pipes, how to install light bulbs, and even browsing brands of dish soap, and then thinking about his serious arrogance every time, that bit of annoyance in her heart inexplicably dissipated. Who would have thought that while he was proudly showing off to her on the surface, he was actually improving his skills behind the scenes?
Stella watched as the man awkwardly finished his pasta, then went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. She stood at the doorway waiting for him.
When Ethan emerged from the kitchen, Stella smiled and asked, "Why did you initially make me stay in the guest room?"
She wasn't expecting him to sweet-talk her anymore. What was the point of tidying up the living room? He wasn't afraid of her discovering anything anyway.
Seeing her return to normal, Ethan chuckled and asked back, "Mrs. Powers, have you ever heard the phrase 'Opportunity knocks'?"
"Not angry anymore?" He patted her head and asked.
"No," Stella replied.
She tilted her head to look at him, her eyes shimmering, and said with a smile, "Mr. Powers, actually, I also desire that opportunity."
"Oh, is that so?" The man loosened his collar, wrapped his arm around her waist, leaned in close to her ear, and in a deep voice that sounded like a soft kiss, he whispered, "Then let me show you."
