Chapter66 Trapped in Limbo
Everything appears to be hazy; sort of fog-like. For the past two days, she hasn't seen anyone…until now.
"Hello, Anna."
"Where am I?"
"You're in your house, silly. Don't you recognize it?"
"How come I can't find a way outside?"
"Because; it's not time for you to go out yet, Anna."
"Why?"
"Because, it's not."
"Where's my Mommy and Daddy?"
"That doesn't matter anymore, Anna."
Anna starts to cry. "I want to go! I want my Mommy and Daddy! What do you want with me?"
"Calm down, Anna. It'll be alright; trust me. We're friends; remember?"
"You're not my friend. You lied to me! You're not Mary!"
Mary grips her upper arms and pulls Anna towards her. Mary's face is flushed-red from the surge of rage coursing through her. "What do you mean I'm not Mary; Anna? I am Mary! I didn't lie to you! We are friends! We are friends! Say we're friends, Anna! Say it! Say it!" Mary shakes her violently.
Anna's trembling as she softly whimpers, "We're…friends."
Still shaking Anna, she demands, "Louder! Say it louder, Anna!"
Anna screams, "WE'RE FRIENDS!"
Mary stops shaking Anna and releases her grip. "Good…that's better."
Anna meekly begs, "Please, Mary; I want to go back."
"Back where, Anna?"
"Home."
"You are home, Anna."
"No; my home…with my Mommy and Daddy."
"You can't go yet, Anna; I told you that already."
"Why?"
"Because, we got things we have to do."
"What things?"
"Don't worry about that now, Anna; they're being taken care of. You just hold on and wait."
"Wait for what? How long?"
"Don't worry about what, Anna. And; when the time comes…you'll know. So; do you want to a play a game?"
Anna softly answers, "No, thank you."
"What?"
"No, thank you; Mary."
"Why not, Anna? It'll be fun. It'll give us something to do while we wait."
"I don't feel like playing now, Mary."
There's a slight tone of anger in Mary's voice now. "Why not, Anna? What is it now? What's your problem?"
Anna takes a couple of steps back before answering, "Nothing. I…I just don't feel like playing now."
Mary moves in towards Anna; who keeps moving back from her, until stopped by the wall. Mary presses her hands against the wall on each side of Anna; entrapping Anna between her arms. Mary leans into the frightened Anna, scowling at her.
"What's your problem, bitch? I'm trying to be nice here; but, you're not working with me! You got some time here still, Anna…might as well make the best of it; right?" Anna nervously nods. "Well then, Anna; I'll ask you one more time…do you want to go play a game with me?"
Again, Anna nods nervously.
"Good." Mary takes her hands off the wall and steps back away from Anna. "Okay, Anna; let's go play."
