Chapter 29 Spaceship
A red-faced Elina shrugged off Edward's arm and said, 'What a technical idiot!
This is a super fusion reactor, and that little smell you smell is because it ionized the surrounding oxygen molecules when the electricity spilled over when it shut down. Idiot idiot idiot!"
Edward wiped a handful of drool from his face and asked, 'So where did this thing come from?"
'The Hussar know? The flagship of the Imperial Grand Fleet.
This big guy is one of several super reactors that power it, and this thing, just this one, can provide daily power supply to half the planet of Dosas." Elina explained with interest.
Edward interrupted Elina's explanation and said, 'No, where did this come from, it's, it's against federal regulations to have this thing here!"
'Hey, what do you care, it was picked up from the battlefield by a team of interstellar scavengers.
You don't even understand its benefits, using it to power the ship, as long as the folding module can withstand it, as long as the members can withstand it, they can make more consecutive folds and farther single folds than those ordinary goods."
Elina said excitedly.
Edward also got excited and said, 'Then we'll be able to cross the barren land between the spinning arms!"
'Not even the door."
Elina poured cold water on Edward right on the head and continued, 'You've got it all wrong.
Let me give you an analogy, this thing is a much more efficient engine that is fitted to your shuttle, your shuttle goes faster and lasts longer, but that doesn't mean you can fly this shuttle endlessly."
Edward scratched his head and said, 'That doesn't help much then."
'Shortens the entire voyage by a third of the time it takes." Elina said as she had gradually lost the desire to share the pleasure.
Although Edward didn't feel anything about the voyage's reduction, he saw all of Elina's gradually collapsing facial expression in his eyes, and the special warrior's peculiarly sensitive nerves sensed the danger and instantly tightened up.
He smiled and said, 'Wow, this is awesome, so what's next, how can I be of service to you? My little wildcat."
'I'd like to use your access, I need to get into the Federation database to check some data, this big guy needs tweaking." Elina said reaching back and pointing at the large figure 8 shaped device that was twisted on the ground.
Edward was a little hesitant, he wasn't a conservative person, it was just that he was worried that using the database so much to look up pertinent data would provoke an investigation by federal law enforcement.
Elina saw through his concern and said, 'Don't worry, I won't let you leave a trail of access."
Edward took off the communicator on his wrist and placed it in Elina's hand, after she took the communicator she turned around and walked to the side table, after connecting the communicator to the quantum computer the communicator began to function on its own.
The login screen for the Federation database flashed across the top at a very fast speed, the image didn't stop there it was logged straight in, then more streams of data flashed up, and within moments Elina disconnected and handed the communicator back to Edward.
Elina looked at the downloaded line of data and said, 'I knew it."
Edward put the communicator back on and adjusted its position as he asked, 'What's wrong? There's no power data for the Hussar in the database?"
'It's not there." Elina looked at the quantum computer with interest and said, 'The Gun Hussar does, I didn't realize that these two starfighters are still sister ships, using the same type of super fusion reactor."
Edward tensed up and hurriedly pushed away the two brothers who wanted to gather around to take a look and said, 'Then remember to delete it when you're done looking at it, don't turn around and get into trouble."
Elina looked at the data and drawings and marveled, 'It's a good thing that this Super Fusion Reactor is complete, or else I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to find the materials even if I wanted to make the missing parts.
Also, no one would even use this kind of processing method now, the pre-imperial era was really an era where miracles were created with brute force."
Watching her skimming through pages and pages of the classified drawings of the Gunship, Edward cried out uneasily, 'Hey, you're not getting the whole set of drawings, are you!"
'I'm going to build one for our honeymoon ride, just borrowing from it, I'll delete it later." Elina said while calculating something on the quantum computer.
'If anyone finds out, we'll both end up in the Federal Security Department, and the honeymoon will be bullshit." Edward said.
'I promise I'll be fine! Don't worry!" Elina said without a care in the world.
'That's what the Imperial Commander of Andrei Starfort assured their Grand Fleet at the time, ignorance is not a sin, arrogance is."
Edward said lightly, there was some exasperation in that tone, it wasn't the unauthorized access to classified documents he was angry about, it was Elina's arrogance.
Elina froze and moved to delete the classified files from the quantum computer.
She tilted her head at Edward and said, 'It's already deleted, and let me tell you Edward, this is confidence, not arrogance, and no one can stop me from learning it with such great technology."
The two Pedro brothers, seeing the atmosphere of saber rattling, hurriedly came up to round off the situation, the brother said, 'Come on, come on, I'll show you something else, I've got a lot of good stuff here.
Elina, I still have the shield generator from the starfighter, the locator system, and... uh, leather seats..."
In front of the brothers' mountainous pile of junk, Elina quietly took Edward's hand and leaned over his shoulder.
She whispered, 'I just wanted you to believe in my abilities, wanted that knowledge of mine to be your strength, you went too fast, but I'm still the same silly girl."
Edward was relieved to hear that Elina's almost morbid obsession with technology had an answer at the moment.
He touched Elina's head and said, 'Silly girl, you're already my solid technical force, if my pie-in-the-sky tactical concepts are the wings, your knowledge is the plumes on those wings. It's not the double wings that make me fly, but you."
The two's gazed at each other fondly, and then also kissed despite the two light bulbs around them.
After the kiss, Elina raised her somewhat moist eyes and said, 'That wasn't enough, I did for you what someone else did, and you did what no one else did."
Edward took Elina's shoulders in both hands, trying to pass on the confidence.
He said, 'The victory of Andrei Starfort was never done alone, I pointed a direction, you cleared the fog from the direction to let everyone see the route, those officers and men in the Federation fleet are the ones who paved the way."
A breeze accompanied by the smell of engine oil blew past them, and the mountain of rusted fittings made a slight crunching sound that called the pair out of their world, Elina sheepishly smoothed her hair and shook Edward's hand.
Trying to ease the awkwardness, Edward coughed and said slowly to the Pedro brothers, 'So, I thought there were leather seats? Show me around."
After picking out most of the other accessories, several people began loading them onto the carrier shuttles and hauling them to the civilian starport for assembly.
Along the way, Elina took the drawings she had designed and tinkered with them while telling the Pedro brothers the precautions to take when laying the lines.
'Don't lay the energy lines centrally, lay them in the direction of the hull's ribs, it doesn't matter even if it adds weight." Elina said.
The two brothers looked over the drawings that had been shared over on their own comms and began to huddle together to discuss something.
Edward knew he was a technical idiot and wasn't about to interrupt and make a fool of himself, honestly driving the carrier shuttle forward, after three hours of boring driving, the shuttle stopped at the unloading area of the starport.
It was a modest starport, especially after the Great War, which had resulted in not a single ship in its berths due to the Federation commandeering various civilian ships.
Apparently, Brother Pedro was a regular here, and he whistled skillfully as a staff member showed up and ran towards them.
The staff member first shook the Pedro family's big brother's hand, then touched fists, then stretched out the palm of his hand and extended the three fingers of his middle finger, forefinger and thumb, with his ring and pinky fingers curled up, and his thumb twitching downward a few times, and his mouth mumbling something.
Edward thought to himself, has this kid joined some organization again?
The big brother of Pedro's family made the same gesture and said, 'I'm bringing my friend to build a ship, and I don't have any keel or ribs right now, so find a pair of them, the best you can get."
Even a technical idiot like Edward knew the importance of keel and ribs to a ship, they directly determined a ship's size, load bearing, firepower, and even the remodeling cap.
This starport boy said, 'There are quite a few good ones lately, they're all here, all of them, take your pick."
