Chapter 38 Fatal Misunderstanding
Edward laughed and said, 'No, there's still the repeater, call for help, there's no shame in staying alive."
AI executed the preset commands and turned on conventional propulsion towards the interior of the galaxy.
'Let's hope you judged it right." Elina finished, getting up from her seat to follow her aunt towards the galley.
Edward glanced at the remaining flight time, six hours and twenty-five minutes, he sighed and pulled out a book to read.
At this moment Joe, who had nothing better to do, walked over and spared a glance at the book in Edward's hand, not saying a word, just staring at Edward.
Edward eventually couldn't stand the burning gaze and said impatiently, 'Say what you have to say, it makes you uncomfortable to stare."
Joe twisted his body twice in embarrassment and asked, 'Big brother Edward, you're from the Resistance, right?"
Edward replied noncommittally, 'Not really."
Joe scratched his head and said, 'I'd like to join you, do you want anyone?"
Edward rolled over, gave him the back of his head and said, 'No."
'Why?" Joe asked in disbelief.
Edward turned around and looked at the expectant Joe and said, 'Big brother, the two of us are really out on our honeymoon, honeymoon understand? Can I still let you join in on this kind of thing?"
'Hey, who's going to join this, I mean the Resistance." Joe got anxious and said.
'I'm not!" Edward said.
'You don't believe me?" Joe said as he turned red with anxiety.
Edward asked, 'Why did you join the Resistance? There has to be a reason."
Joe said, 'I...I want revenge, I want to change the status quo, look at what the people are living through now, half of their income has to be paid in taxes.
Fine, pay taxes, pay taxes, prices are skyrocketing, today's work is not enough to pay for tomorrow's food, and they are in fear all day long, and the noble officials are running rampant."
Edward sighed, interrupting Joe who was trying to continue, and said, 'It's obvious that you don't know what you really want yet, come."
With that he stood up and walked towards the small conference table and sat down close to the chair, greeting Joe as he sat down next to him.
When he saw Joe sit down, he pulled an old photograph out of his pocket, pinched a corner and handed it to Joe to look at.
He said, 'This is my mother, the war caused us to be separated, and I've never seen her until now, there's only this one picture."
With that, he pointed to the kitchen and continued, 'There's a woman there, her husband has just died, and she must be desperately trying to suppress her inner grief right now. Her son, on the other hand, is hell-bent on going to war for the greater good, that vague and distant goal you speak of."
Joe bowed his head, unable to say a word.
Seeing that Joe had given it some thought, Edward continued, 'Even if one day you do finally decide to go to the front, I hope that it's the result of deep thought on your part as a family, even if it's just the two of you in this family. So stay by her side until you figure out why you're fighting."
At that moment, Joe's mother, accompanied by Elina, came out from the porch, looked at her son with red eyes and opened her arms.
Joe could no longer suppress his inner emotions at this point and walked forward to jump into his mother's arms and bawled his eyes out.
While shedding tears, his mother patted Joe on the back and murmured something in his son's ear, soothing the newly grown boy.
Elina walked over to Edward's side and said faintly, 'Why fight, I'll fight for you."
Edward took her hand and muttered to himself, 'What is to fight for, you fight for me, and I fight for you not having to fight again."
After a long time, the group gathered themselves together, Edward and Joe fiddled with the dishes in the dining room, bored and waiting for dinner to start, while Auntie and Elina worked feverishly in the kitchen.
'Smells good." Edward said.
'Mmm, this is supposed to be Mapo Tofu." Joe replied as he sniffed the smell that permeated the air.
'Strange name, how do you spell those words?" Edward asked in a huff, unable to figure out how the sound was made.
Joe dipped his finger in some water and wrote on the steel table top of the dining room table.
Edward couldn't help but frown at the strange squiggly writing and said, 'Ancient Galactic language again."
'Hey, the Galaxy wasn't unified before the Star Empire, but at the time, ninety percent of the colonies in the vast Galaxy spoke the language." Joe said smugly.
'Then why didn't any historical documents from before the Star River Empire remain?" Edward asked.
'I don't know, I'm not a historian." Joe said.
'I think you could do some research on galactic history, go out and travel around, you might be able to find the legendary Star of Origins, you have this ancient galactic language as a foundation, you could definitely make a dent in galactic history."
Edward said as he leaned over the table and tapped his fingers on the table, gusts of wafting scent making his mouth water.
'Well, you're right, there was once a group of people who came to our house to ask my dad for advice on the Ancient Galactic Language." Joe said.
A loud yell came from the kitchen, 'Son of a bitch, come serve dinner! And don't know how to come and help, just sit there and be lazy!"
Joe jumped up from his seat at the sound of his mother's scolding and ran towards the kitchen, in a few moments he came back with two large plates, behind him Elina was also carrying two large plates, Joe put down the plates and ran back.
Before long everyone was seated around the table and Auntie introduced the dishes, saying, 'This is Mapo Tofu, this is Spicy Chicken, this is Pork in a Hot Pot, this is Kung Pao Chicken, and this is Shredded Pork with Fish Scent."
Edward had been waiting for a long time, seeing this table of food saliva has long dripped to the ground, copied up the fork to eat, was auntie said 'wash your hands" scared down the fork and ran, Joe was stunned, also followed out to wash their hands.
Auntie smiled at Elina, who was snickering, and said, 'If you want to capture a man's heart, you have to capture his stomach first, Edward is a good boy, you need to learn how to cook."
After Edward had eaten and drank his fill, he walked to the front of the star chart with a cup of coffee in his hand and stared at the gradually approaching star Achilles on the chart with some surprise.
The agricultural star was not as green as he had expected, but instead was a leaden gray and dead.
He saw Elina coming this way and said, 'This planet looks depressing ......"
'No mistake, right? It looks like an abandoned planet from afar." Elina said, calling out to the Silver Dragon's AI to start accessing the planetary data.
As she flipped through the planetary data, she said, 'Why is the atmospheric composition of this Achilles so bad, it's unscientific for an agricultural planet to look like a heavy industrial planet."
At this time the Silver Dragon ai said, 'Application has been made to land on planet Achilles, awaiting dispatch."
Edward sipped his coffee, pushed away Joe's head that was sticking out and said, 'Don't get off the ship if you can in a while, it always feels weird."
He was mentally calculating how soon the infiltrators from the Federation side lurking in the Empire would be able to come to their rescue, and in what way, if they couldn't add the energy and activate the distress signal.
'We are cleared to dock at Starport Newland 3, is there anything else we need to be instructed on?" AI asked.
'Start refueling as soon as we dock, fill up and let's go." Edward said.
Elina pouted and said, 'We're here, aren't we going down for a stroll? We need to replenish our food and water too, we didn't even have time to replenish these subsistence supplies in Toronto."
'How long will there be enough food and water?" Edward asked.
'Food for about four days I think, water a little less, the oxygen concentrator is adequate, but it needs to be topped off in case of accidents as well." Elina crossed the list displayed on her communicator to Edward, sharing the data with him.
Edward looked at the various types of supplies that needed to be replenished and frowned, suddenly remembering something like that, he said towards Joe, 'How is your mother's health?"
'There's nothing wrong with her body, she just laid down in the medical bay for a while, and the physical damage from that moment of high acceleration has been repaired." Joe stood upright and answered Edward's question as if he thought of himself as a soldier.
Edward looked at his serious appearance, cried and laughed, and said, 'Well then, the ship will be energized in a while, and we'll both go down and buy some supplies."
Joe gave a twisted military salute and said, 'Yes sir."
Edward sighed and said, 'We'll set out to acquire supplies after we've refueled, if they refuse to refuel us we'll have to wait in the ship for someone else to rescue us."
Several people began to get busy, Edward and Joe began checking their equipment, Auntie was writing a list of ingredients on a piece of paper, and Elina was working on something on Edward's communicator.
'I've set you on real time comm status, and the ai's voice comms are accessed, so you'll be on in a bit, and it'll be easy for us to give you guys backup if we run into anything." Elina said as she put the miniature headset on Edward.
