Harris, Extra Sweet
Harris didn't let the bouquet of flowers drain his progressing relationship with Mallory. He begged forgiveness from Mallory, and she seemed considerate after a few tries by giving Harris a few tasks as punishment.
Harris should teach Harriet to write letters and names, teach her how to read, and also teach her how to swim during the weekend. It was quite a lot, but for Mallory's forgiveness, he was willing to do it all. Mallory celebrated, thinking she finally had a chance to punish Harris for being a pain in the ass.
The next day, Harris was cheerfully going to his office as he was even more motivated to work on his goal after reconciling with Mallory. His behavior was quite noticeable among his employees, especially during the meeting with the executives.
Lately, their boss has been a grumpy cat, but today, he was extra cheerful and easy to work with. It could be named a miracle. They haven't seen their boss this nice, although he wasn't the worst boss, there could be times he is hard to work with.
David told Harris to step up his game and stop worrying about someone sending flowers to Mallory. He has to show that he is a better man and that he can handle any situation calmly. So he thought of sending Mallory some flowers to divert her attention to him instead of the mysterious guy.
"Ruby, please come here," he commanded his secretary.
After a few seconds, his secretary was in his office. "Mr. Thompson, is there anything you need?"
"Ruby, do you have any closed flower shops that deliver flowers? I need the most beautiful bouquet of flowers."
"Of course, sir. Do you want me to arrange it for you?"
"Yes, please. And put this message on it." He quickly wrote a note. "To the love of my life. I apologize for what I did yesterday - Harris"
As Ruby was reading the note, she could confirm that the rumor was indeed true. She knew Harris was never this sweet to Nicole, so it must be the rumored other woman, Mallory. But she didn't dare say a word; it's none of her business. Her loyalty is to her boss.
"Sir, you'll just have to choose a specific bouquet of flowers, and I'll make the order and the payment for you." Ruby showed the website of the flower shop.
Harris was carefully considering all the choices. He wants the best for Mallory and the most beautiful bouquet the flower shop has. "Let's get these 200 roses in heart shape.' Ruby, what do you think?"
"It's a good choice, sir, considering this is like an apology present," Ruby said.
"Great! One more thing, please call one of our helpers and tell them to prepare a romantic dinner for three."
"Noted, sir. Is there anything more?" Her curiosity increased even more. "Why three?"
"No. That's about it. Thank you, Ruby." With that, his secretary left his office, and he continued signing the documents that were filed on his table. He imagined Mallory's reaction when she got the flowers, only hoping it would be positive.
An hour later, her phone buzzed with Mally's name on the screen. He excitedly swiped the screen to answer.
"Harris, why did you send me flowers?"
"It's a peace offering for what I said yesterday," he said, grinning like a fool. His feet are up on his table as he swivels on his chair.
"You didn't have to send these flowers since we already had a deal about a few tasks you have to do."
"I want to. Am I not allowed? Would you like that random person to send you flowers instead of me?"
"Oh, please, that's not what I mean, Harris. You're starting it again," Mallory said, becoming frustrated.
"Oh, sorry. Just this one. Do you like the flowers I gave you? I chose it especially for you."
"Of course, I like it. I appreciate every gift I receive. It's the thoughts that count."
"Which is your favorite? The flowers I gave or the one yesterday?" He asked to tease Mallory.
"Harris, don't be childish."
"Hmm," he hummed. "You obviously like the one yesterday. Why don't you say it?"
"Alright. I like the one you sent today. Are you done?"
"Well, kind of. I'll get back to work. I love you, baby," he said, expecting Mallory to reciprocate.
"Thank you. Bye!" With that, Mallory hung up the phone, leaving Harris quite disappointed. However, he wouldn't let it ruin his day. He knew he was making progress and should be consistent.
The evening sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow across the elegant garden terrace of Harris's mansion. Harris had spared no expense in arranging the perfect romantic dinner for Mallory, an effort to rekindle their love and create lasting memories.
The table was adorned with a crisp white tablecloth, fine china, and polished silverware. Delicate candles in crystal holders flickered gently, casting a soft, romantic ambiance. The house helpers did their best to give a romantic experience for Harris, Mallory, and Harriet.
As the three of them took their seats, Mallory couldn't help but admire the setting. "Harris, this is beautiful," she whispered, her eyes sparkling in the candlelight.
He smiled warmly. "I wanted tonight to be special, for all of us."
Harriet, their energetic four-year-old daughter, was clearly excited by the elegant dinner setup. She wore a little dress that made her look like a princess. Her blue eyes darted around the table, taking in all the details with wonder.
"Mommy, it's like we're in a fairy tale!" Harriet exclaimed, her eyes wide.
Mallory chuckled, her heart swelling with love for her family. "Yes, it does feel like a fairy tale, sweetheart."
Harris raised his glass, filled with sparkling apple juice. "To us," he toasted, his eyes locked on Mallory's.
"To us," Mallory and Harriet echoed, clinking their glasses together.
The dinner began with a delicate salad of fresh greens, adorned with ripe strawberries and candied pecans. Harris poured a crisp white wine for Mallory and himself, while Harriet had her sparkling apple juice.
Harriet, always curious, asked, "Daddy, when will we get the spaghetti?"
Harris chuckled. "Soon, sweetheart. We have to enjoy every course, just like in a fancy restaurant."
Mallory gazed at Harris, her heart filled with gratitude for the effort he had put into this evening. "You really went all out, didn't you?"
He smiled, reaching for her hand. "I'd do anything for you both."
As the main course arrived, they feasted on al dente pasta tossed in a rich, homemade marinara sauce, topped with plump meatballs and grated Parmesan cheese. The flavors danced on their palates, and Mallory couldn't help but close her eyes and savor each bite.
Harriet was equally enthusiastic. "This is the best spaghetti ever, Mommy!" she exclaimed between bites.
Mallory chuckled. "I'm glad you like it, sweetie."
With dinner plates cleared, they moved on to dessert—a delectable tiramisu that melted in their mouths. Harris, ever the attentive host, served each of them a slice with a flourish.
As the evening drew to a close, they sat together, content and connected. Harris's gaze never left Mallory, his love for her shining brightly.
"Daddy, can we do this again?" Harriet asked, her innocent eyes filled with hope.
Harris and Mallory exchanged a knowing look. This evening had been a reminder of their love and the importance of cherishing their family.
"Of course, sweetheart," Harris said, his voice filled with warmth. "We'll have many more special dinners together."
Mallory leaned over. "Thank you for tonight, Harris."
Harris smiled and held Mallory's hand, knowing that they were on a journey to rebuild their love, one beautifully set table at a time.
"Mommy, Daddy, can you tuck me to bed? Both of you," Harriet asked, her eyes drooping to sleep.
"Of course, my princess," Harris said, taking Harriet into his arms.
Harris and Mallory give Harriet a kiss as they tuck her into sleep. Mallory was holding a book for her to read a bedtime story.
"Mommy, and Daddy, you should kiss each other too."
They were both quiet but ultimately gave Harriet what she wanted. Harriet squealed seeing her mom and dad kiss. As Harriet fell to sleep they both left her room, silence dominating between them.
"Mally, do you want me to tuck you to sleep?" Harris asked to tease Mallory.
Mallory's eyes widened. "Are you for real, Harris? You're so childish," she shook her head in disbelief.
"Baby, I'm serious," he stepped close to Mallory.
Mallory was fast enough to open the door to her room. "Shut up!" She said, closing the door behind her. Her heart drummed in her chest as she leaned on the door.
"Good night, baby. I love you," Harris shouted enough that she could hear it. She chuckled at how silly Harris was. She finds him cute despite being annoying sometimes.
