Chapter XII Deciding to Leave
Chris's gone.
Zheng Zehui didn't come in until a long time later. His anger seemed to disappear a lot, but his eyes were red, as if he had cried.
"Zehui, what happened?" I looked at him in surprise.
"Nothing, there is sand in my eyes." Zheng Zehui reluctantly took the corners of his mouth and smiled at me: "If Chris gives you a large sum of money, we can take Little John abroad together, just in time to have better conditions to treat your illness."
I hesitated.
I don't know if I can come back. My parents are my biggest concern.
Zheng Zehui sat by my bed. He watched my expression and immediately guessed what was in my heart.
"Your parents will go with us." Zheng Zehui said: "Chris gave enough money to buy a big house in the United States, and everyone can live."
I silently bowed my head.
With Zheng Zehui's help, I no longer need to worry about everything. He keeps everything in good order. And I also successfully completed the first stage of treatment, and soon Little John and I were discharged from hospital.
Zheng Zehui drove to pick us up, and his mood seemed very good along the way: "If you stay at my friend's house first, and then we will leave immediately after I have completed all the things for you to go abroad."
"Will it disturb others?" I'm a little worried.
Zheng Zehui laughed: "No, all their families have immigrated, and the house is empty, just to live."
I nodded my head.
The house is far away from the city. After more than an hour, Zheng Zehui's car gradually slowed down.
This is a pure villa community, surrounded by mountains and rivers, with trees everywhere, and looks very beautiful.
Zheng Zehui's friend's house is located very well, facing a natural lake. What is even more unexpected is that as soon as it comes out from the back door, it is a small dock with a small boat docked.
I stood on the spacious platform with Little John in my arms.
Zheng Zehui came up, smiled and pointed to the distance and said, "If there is an island over there, it is a paradise for birds."
I looked into the distance and said nothing.
"Tomorrow, I'll row to show you, but I remember that you like birds best......"
"Zehui, whose house is this?" I interrupted Zheng Zehui.
The look on his face did not change at all. He just raised his eyebrows and looked at me with a little interest: "Do you think it is Chris's?"
Zheng Zehui is right. I really suspect it is Chris's house.
Helen used to show us that Chris had a house built in green mountains and green waters, and he could even go fishing in a boat behind the house in the morning.
At that time, her expression was happy and full of longing: "Chris said that he would take me there when he got married."
After listening to my words, Zheng Zehui burst out laughing. He solemnly patted me on the shoulder: "If, you think too much. There is not just one house near the lake."
I laughed wryly. Zheng Zehui was right. What reason did Chris have to do this?
For the next period of time, we stayed in this beautiful little villa. Soon, Zheng Zehui picked up my father and mother again, and the family lived happily together.
This is the happiest time for me in such a long time, and even my physical discomfort feels much better.
Early in the morning, I took Little John for a walk in the small garden downstairs. When we are tired, we will bask in the sun on hanging chairs everywhere and enjoy leisure time lazily.
Occasionally, Zheng Zehui will take our whole family to swim in the lake by boat, or go to Bird Island in the distance to see those beautiful little creatures.
The smile slowly climbed up my face again.
"Ruoruo, you look really good." Zheng Zehui said happily.
In fact, what Zheng Zehui saw was only part of it.
Every night in the dead of night, I still can't help thinking of many people and things, Helen's lies, Nora's viciousness and Chris's extreme distrust and refusal.
Their faces always appear alternately in my dreams, deeply hurting me and making my already broken heart more scarred.
I hope time can finally smooth everything out.
One noon a month later, I received a phone call from Zheng Zehui. At the other end, he sounded very happy: "If all the formalities are completed, we can leave next week."
After putting down the phone, my heart rose a little disappointed in vain, sour, and a little unwilling.
Are you really going to leave like this? I asked myself.
A voice from the bottom of my heart answered me, "Yes, you have done all the efforts you should do."
Perhaps this is already the best choice.
The day of leaving is approaching day by day.
