AOR
The news about Bianca's true parentage had not gone well with Luca. It had struck him like a bullet. He never imagined anything like that. Vittorio Morreti was a man he had prayed not to be like in terms of forming a family. He was a man believed to have whiled away his youth without securing to himself an heir to inherit his empire. A king without an heir. La fratellanza dela Morte was said to be inherited by his nephew when he was dead. But the people knew better. They all knew there as going to be a squabble over power when Vittorio dies, especially if he dies suddenly.
Now it was just a space of three days. Three days, that was all it took for Luca to discover Vittorio had two grown daughters who, in truth, were more than enough to run La fratellanza dela Morte. And to even make it worse, one of them had been living under his roof for the past month. And he even now has developed a soft spot for her.
Luca couldn't put everything together, it was all more than he could carry. 'What if i had been played this whole time?" He asked himself loudly as he sat on the plush leather sofa in his penthouse living room. 'What if everything had been a game, Bianca's attempt at killing him, his contract with her and taking her into his home. What if she had been there to gather some information on him and how La Mano Nera operated."
Luca was entirely disoriented. He had let his guard down, or so he thought. He might've judged Bianca wrong. 'She's no amateur, if she wanted me dead, she would've tried a better way." He tried to justify the thought that Bianca had intentionally played to get his attention and land in his home somehow.
Bianca was at Isabella's home, and she had opted to go there herself, although with a little persuasion from Isabella. Luca could not help but think that everything had been part of their grand plan. She had calculated everything as to how it would turn out, and was present in his house to physically control the parts she couldn't.
He thought of Rafael, and the thought that even his alliance with Isabella might've been false and another part of their plan to destabilize La Mano Nera. 'Why did Lita Romano give out that information and that video like she had it ready and waiting for him to come? Why did Bianca specifically request to meet at that same club, The Fezalaro Club? A club that belonged to her father's estranged lover?"
Everything was aligning in Luca's head, he thought to himself about how much he had messed up.
Luca was clueless about the next thing to do, but he just knew he had to do something. 'What do I do now?" He asked himself out loud. He picked up his phone and scrolled through the phone's contacts until he came upon a number, Gabriel Rossi. His hands hovered over the screen of the phone as he spent some minutes rethinking his decision to call the man, Gabriel.
Gabriel Rossi was an assassin, a highly skilled one at that, who had worked for Luca in the past. Through Luca's diggings into Bianca, he discovered Bianca and Gabriel were in a foster home together, and they also worked together if that is what you would call it on a hit.
Luca had reasons to believe Bianca would trust Gabriel. He was going to call Gabriel and offer him money to rescue Bianca from Isabella if she wanted to be rescued. If Bianca refuses Gabriel's attempt to rescue her, it would mean she would rather not come back to him. He dialed the number.
'Hello," came the thick voice from the other end of the line.
'I have a job for you, not a hit," Luca began, 'I don't need you to kill someone, rather I want you to save someone."
'I don't do rescue missions," Gabriel answered curtly.
'I would pay 200 million." Luca paused. '100 million upfront, and I would pay that tonight if you agree to do this."
There was silence from both ends of the line. The only sound between them was the sound of Gabriel's heavy breaths. 'Who's the target?" He finally asked.
'Good, I will send the details of the mission to you through your mail," Luca paused. 'I'm genuinely grateful you're doing this." He said as he finally ended the call.
Just then, Luca's phone buzzed, and it was a message from Matteo Pasquale, his clansman.
'Your father is dead."
The text was short, Luca's breath dropped. His throat swelling with air…
He was dumbfounded.
