Finding the Truth
Miley's POV
I am watching attentively while trying to maintain a heightened sense of awareness. We can come to the palace anytime we want. It's just that they shouldn't see us now or know what we're doing. We might lose the opportunity to uncover the truth even more.
But my concentration is being disrupted by the two noisy vampires beside me.
'Could you guys please be quiet? Dad might hear and see us," I softly scolded Reiri and Hiro.
They've been arguing with each other since earlier. I don't know what the problem is this time. But they're just so irritating.
They're always like that, never agreeing with each other. They really should be separated.
'We can just teleport, you know," Hiro said, trying to lighten the mood.
I gave him a disapproving look. Did he really think that would work with Dad? Especially since his teleportation ability can only cover short distances.
'I forgot. Among the three of us, you're the only one who can go to faraway places," he said, but his attention is with Reiri.
She just glared at him in response.
I sighed. It looks like they're about to start again.
'Even so, as if we can escape Dad just by doing that," I reminded him.
He scratched his head in frustration because of what I said.
'Yeah, right. Good luck to you, then," Reiri teased him.
Hiro frowned and didn't say anything else. It's good that their argument didn't escalate any further.
'But you were amazing earlier, Miley! I wish I had abilities like yours. Purebloods are really something," he changed the topic and even nodded in approval.
I let out a deep sigh. Sometimes, Hiro really acts like a child. I really wonder how he became Vince's best friend, considering the other aristocrat vampires out there. They have completely different personalities.
Actually, even Kyle and Kira are very different from each other as well.
I smiled at him. 'That's just how it is. We all have different kinds of special abilities. Your abilities are no small feat," I said as I tried to cheer him up.
Well, Hiro's special ability is his super strength and speed. Although we all have similar abilities, he is exceptionally powerful compared to us.
Even a simple flick or tap from him can cause immediate harm. Sometimes, he might even throw you out of the blue. But he manages to control his power to avoid unintentionally hurting others, especially in public places.
Actually, all of us can already control our special abilities. We underwent training together. Unless there are other hidden abilities we haven't discovered yet.
'I can't relate to your topic," Reiri said sadly.
I tapped her shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile. 'Don't worry. Your special ability will come out too."
She nodded. Until now, she hasn't discovered her special ability yet. We're all waiting for it to emerge. But I know that she feels pressured about it, especially since she's also a pureblood.
I looked around once again. Thankfully, no one has wandered into this area yet. It's rare for anyone to come to this part of the palace.
The three of us were outside the palace library. Kyle assigned us to keep watch here.
Aside from my ability to hypnotize, I can also send messages to others using my mind.
I know that we're both thinking about the same thing. About what we overheard from Dad and Mom's conversation before. We were young back then, but I still remember bits and pieces of it until now.
We didn't fully understand all the details, though. But what stuck in our minds the most is that there's someone destined to be part of our vampire clan, and we need to protect that person no matter what.
Right now, I know that Kyle is considering the possibility that it might be Nicole.
What we still don't understand until now is why she will be one of us. Also, why we need to protect her.
Only the two of us knew about this information. We planned to gather all the details before informing others about it.
We had already forgotten to investigate it. Not until now.
I remained huddled in front of the door, deep in thought, when I suddenly noticed the sudden silence of my two companions.
Strange. Did a peculiar breeze pass by?
I turned to look at both of them. 'What's the problem?" I asked, furrowing my brows.
They looked so nervous. They seemed to have seen a ghost that I couldn't understand.
Seriously, they're already creeping me out.
I noticed that both of them were staring behind me. So, I turned my back only to be stunned as well.
'Dad."
I bit my lower lip and did the peace sign. He was looking at us seriously. Specifically at me.
Well, I guess it's a mission failed.

Kyle Ethan's POV
I have been busy browsing through the shelves here for I don't know how long. But until now, I still haven't been able to find the book I need.
I know there's no guarantee that I'll find the information I need here. But there's no harm in trying.
'There are too many books here. Are you telling me we're really going to look at all of these one by one?" Vince asked incredulously.
He was sitting on a long table, flipping through a book.
Why did I forget that this person is lazy when it comes to reading? I should have brought Hiro with me instead.
We're currently in the library of the palace. I know that Dad will sense that we're here. So, as much as possible, I want to quickly find what we came here for and leave.
I don't want him to catch us here. I'm sure he'll bombard us with questions. They know very well that we don't like hanging out and going to the palace. That's why we have our own mansion inside the academy.
I carefully examine each book I pick up. But I already know the content of most of them.
I know that they're hiding something from us. That's why I'll be the one to make a move to know the truth.
'It seems like there's no book here about a human with extraordinary abilities or anything we can connect to," Kira muttered while leaning his back against the wall and reading a book.
Meanwhile, I freely roam around the entire library. There are no guards here now because Miley took care of them earlier.
'You know what, Kyle, why don't we just ask Uncle Zach directly? He can surely help us," Vince suggested.
I gave him a bored look because he still hasn't said that he's just lazy. He's even making excuses.
I know that he's trying to read my mind. Even though we're both a pureblood, I feel sorry for him because I can easily block him.
Kira looked at me. 'That's true. If there's anyone who can explain everything to us besides these books, it's them. So far, I haven't read anything here that I don't know about. Everything is related to our lineage and the past wars." He continued flipping the pages of his book.
I shook my head at them. 'Believe me. If they really know something, they won't tell us about it."
Vince raised an eyebrow. 'Why not?" Both Kira and Vince had curious expressions as they looked at me now.
I shrugged. 'I just know."
I turned away from them and continued walking until I reached the far end of the library. But I suddenly stopped as I remembered something.
I overheard Dad and Mom talking before, and Dad mentioned a secret room right here inside the library.
All the confidential files are there. Besides that, no one else can enter that place except for them. Even the guards here have no idea about that room.
But where could it be exactly?
I looked around the area, but I couldn't see any other doors here.
Then an idea suddenly hit me. There's a big possibility that it's hidden behind the shelves, just like in the movies.
Most of the bookshelves here are attached to the wall. So it looks like we need to push them back one by one. Well, Vince can do it so easily.
I was about to call him when I suddenly heard Miley's voice. She has the ability to communicate with us through her mind.
'Big brother, Dad caught us. I'm so sorry. You already know where to find us."
I let out a deep sigh. I knew it.
I walked back to Vince and Kira. 'Let's go. Dad is waiting for me."
Within seconds, I was in front of Dad. I saw Miley standing off to the side, looking down. Some of our companions were waiting outside.
I looked at my Dad. He just smirked at me.
'It's so nice to see you, son. What's with the sudden visit?" Amusement was evident on his voice.
I didn't respond since he already knows the answer to his own question.
He shrugged. 'You're right. I already have an idea with regard to your business here. But you should also know that you will not be able to find anything here, and we're not going to tell you about it as well."
I am dismayed. He finally confirmed my suspicion that they are hiding something from us.
'But Dad—"
He lifted his right hand. 'Go back. It is not yet the right time for you to know about it."
Before I could protest again, he disappeared from my sight.
I clenched my fist. When will be the right time for us to know about that matter?

Nicole Jane's POV
'At last, it finally ended." I stretch both of my arms, then slightly massage my nape.
My neck and hands were sore from several hours of leaning over the table and writing just to finish our assignments. It feels like my brain has almost dried up.
If only I hadn't stayed out so late, I probably would have finished these essays earlier. I really hate doing this kind of thing.
I looked up at the wall clock. It's almost midnight already.
No wonder my eyes were almost closing while writing. I'm not used to staying up late. I'm sure that I'll have a headache when I wake up tomorrow.
I quickly packed up my things and stood up. I turned off the lights and jumped on my bed.
Finally, I can rest. This day has been too exhausting.
I was about to close my eyes when I suddenly heard a knock from outside the door.
I couldn't help but feel nervous. Who could be coming at this late hour?
As far as I know, wandering around outside the dormitory building is not allowed after ten o'clock at night, unless there's an event happening at the academy itself. There are also security guards patrolling here every night to make sure everyone is in their respective dormitories and rooms.
I was contemplating my thoughts when I heard a knock again.
Damn it! I really want to sleep!
I don't know if I should get up or just let whoever is outside be. But in the end, my curiosity urged me to go and open the door.
I stood up and turned on the light again. Slowly, I approached the door and opened it slightly.
I peeked over and saw nothing. I opened the door wider and scanned the surroundings.
But there's no one out there.
I shrugged. Maybe it's just one of those mischievous students with nothing better to do in life, and they decided to mess with me.
I was about to close the door when I noticed a folded paper on the floor. I furrowed my brow and picked it up.
What could this be? A love letter? Could it be that I have a secret admirer here?
I shrugged and laughed. I must be really tired, thinking all sorts of things.
I casually opened the paper. I just want to make sure that whoever left this has a valid reason for disturbing me.
But my forehead furrowed even more as I read it.
I know who you really are. So be careful of your actions because I'm watching you. Don't get caught or else, you're dead.
The words were written in bold letters. It's as if I shouldn't miss any word written here because they are important.
Wait. Who the hell wrote and sent this to me, and what did they mean by it? Is it a threat or something?
I thought the strange events of the day were over. But it seems like they're not.
What the hell is really happening? Is there someone harboring deep anger towards me here without my knowledge?
