Chapter101
I stared at him, lost.
"Common in Max, don't stay outside," he told somebody out of the office. The person came in and my heart almost stopped pumping blood.
Sheridan?!
I gasped.
"Good afternoon, ma'am," he said innocently.
My eyes widened and I went pale.
"Sh- Sheridan?? What are you doing here?" I asked, my whole body trembling.
"Sheridan?!" Sawyer asked in shock.
Sheridan looked at us like we were crazy.
"Who? Uh no. You must be mistaken. I'm Max. Max Dooley," he took out an ID and showed us. I was lost.
"This is Max my friend," Ace said. I stared at the so-called Max.
Why did he resemble the young guy I'd met who'd said he was Sheridan? Or was it because it was night time and I didn't see him well? I was scared and confused. Ace approached my table.
"So where do I sign?"
"Here," Keith replied.
What?!
I put my hand on the document.
"Ace, what the fuck are you doing??" I turned to Keith, "Where's Mr Paul??"
"Here he is. But that's not his real name though."
I turned to Ace in confusion.
"Ace, what the hell is going on??"
He smiled.
"Well, I'm buying this company. I've paid you. I used a fake name because If I'd used my real name, you wouldn't have let an employee, succeed you."
He was right.
"I can't let you sign!"
"What? Mom, you need the money," Heather stated.
"Yes, mom. You have debts to pay," Sawyer added.
They were right too. I looked at Ace again. How rich was this kid? And he was wise by not letting me know he was behind this.
"Will you be able to handle a company?" I asked.
"Yes," he replied confidently.
After hesitating for a long time, I took my hand off the document.
"Thank you," he smiled and got a pen. He bent over and I watched him sign. There. He was the sole owner of P.W industries. Both my daughters stared at him, speechless and still surprised.
I stood up to shake hands with him. I couldn't believe it.
"Congratulations, A- Ace."
"Thank you, Christina. It was not a pleasure working for you," he mused, a smirk on his lips.
"Well, I'm sorry you didn't appreciate working for me," I replied, still surprised by the unexpected turn of things.
"It's life," he smiled and his partners chuckled.
I got both briefcases full of money and was about to leave when the office door banged open! And to my shock, standing there with other police officers, was sheriff Bates, from Blueville! He was still alive??
"B- Bates??." I stammered, shocked.
"Long time, aye? Well, Christina Welds, you are under arrest for the murders of Paul Wesley and Kenneth welds. Not to forget for child abuse, maltreatment and starving of Sheridan Wesley. You have the right to rending silent. Everything you say will be held against you in..."
While he spoke, I watched with shock as an officer came over to me, collected the briefcases and pinned my hands behind my back. Putting handcuffs on them. I stared in shock. What was happening?? Was this a bad dream?!
Christina's POV:
"What?? How dare you arrest my mother!" Sawyer shouted, "Let her go!"
I felt tears well up my eyes. What was happening? I looked around. Heather looked sad but not shocked. She remained silent and stared at me. I looked at Ace. He stared at me, emotionless, hands in his pockets. I saw something like amusement linger in his eyes, his friends did same.
I turned to sheriff Bates.
"Bates what the hell are you talking about?! I'm innocent!" I screamed, angrily.
"Shut up, Christina. You're reaping what you sowed. Your past is catching up with you."
"I didn't do anything! The case was closed a long time ago, you idiot!"
The old brat smiled
"Yes, it was. But it was reopened. By someone who wanted justice. By someone who wants you to pay."
I turned to that so-called max.
"Sheridan! It's really you! You–"
"Ma'am, I said I am not Sheridan," he insisted.
I turned to Bates.
"That's not Sheridan, Christina. But it was Sheridan who reopened the case."
"What?? W– where is the real Sheridan??" I asked Bates, tears rolling down my cheeks uncontrollably. He didn't answer I turned to Max, "Where is he?? He's dead!"
"Ma'am, I do not know what the hell you're talking about," the Max continued to deny. I thought I was losing my mind.
I saw Keith and Christian chuckle a little.
How dared they laugh at me??
I looked at Ace, he had a smirk on, one that portrayed satisfaction. What was happening? How dared they laugh at me!
"Time to go, Christina," Bates stated and the officer behind me grabbed my arm and was about to pull me away.
"Uh sheriff, can I say a few words to her?" Ace suddenly asked. What did he want to tell me?
"Sure, son," he motioned the other officer over and they left the office. Leaving me standing there, my hands cuffed behind my back.
"What the hell do you want to tell me??" I asked angrily.
He smirked and approached me.
"I didn't know you were this stupid, Christina. So blind," he chuckled.
What?! How dared he insult me?
"Hey! Who do you take yourself for??" Sawyer stepped forward angrily, "Yes, you're the owner of this company now but who gives you the right to insult my mother??"
Ace looked at her, a provocative smirk on his face.
"Are you talking to me?" he asked, amused.
"Yes!" she turned to her sister, "Heather, you better warn him!"
Heather kept her eyes on the floor, arms folded.
"Heather?!" Sawyer called angrily.
"Hey, hey, hey. You got a prob with me. Not with her," Ace said.
Sawyer turned to him angrily.
"Just shut up you, dumbass," she insulted. Ace frowned. And he raised a warning finger at her.
"Careful. I've been waiting for an opportunity to slap you."
