Chapter98
"Good morning, gentlemen," I stood up smiling, and shook their hands, "Please sit down."
They did.
"Good to see you again, Mrs Christina," the familiar blonde one said with a smirk.
"I know you somewhere, right?"
"Yeah. Ace's friend you met at the beach. Keith."
"Oh! Yes. How are you?? You work for Mr Paul?"
"Yeah. A very busy man."
"I realised. And this is?" I turned to the handsome half Asian guy.
"I'm Christian. Mr Paul's lawyer."
"Wow. You're one young lawyer."
He smiled.
"I know."
"Let's talk business, please," Keith said.
"Alright."
"Is it the whole company you're selling?"
"Yes."
"Okay. The price please," he went straight to the point.
I smiled and told them millions they would have to pay. To my surprise, the price didn't shock them one bit.
"Okay. We want to advance 80% of the price. To secure our position."
My eyes widened.
"Eighty percent?"
"You're shocked?"
"Yes. I expected like ten percent."
Both men chuckled.
"You don't know who your dealing with," Keith said.
"Mr Paul's filthy rich," Christian added.
Wow. Who was that man?
"You have the money on you?"
"Yes. What did you expect."
Keith opened his briefcase full of shiny dollars. My mouth almost dropped wide open. Damn. Selling the company was easy.
"There's your eighty percent."
I was speechless.
Christian opened his briefcase and took out a document.
"All you have to do is sign this."
"What's that?"
"A document that proves that Mr Paul has secured his place as future owner of this company. You need to sign to confirm. Then Wednesday, we'll come with the remaining twenty percent. Mr Paul will be present to sign the ownership papers of this company, making him the sole proprietor."
"Deal. No problem."
I read the document and then signed,
"Done! See you Wednesday."
"Looking forward to that day," they both smiled and stood up.
"Goodbye, gentlemen."
"Goodbye."
They both left my office.
I looked at the millions in front of me. I couldn't believe it.
Yes!
I picked my phone to call Rob and tell him the good news.
*
Ace's POV:
I watched Christina rejoice in her office. I smiled. If only she knew.
A few minutes later, Keith and Christian came into my office, smiling.
"That was a great job!" I stood up smiling.
"What can we say? We're the best," Keith chuckled. I hugged both of them laughing.
"That witch is gonna regret it," Christian added with a laugh.
"Yup. Thank you so much, guys. Can't wait for Wednesday. I want all of y'all to be present on that special day. All of you who helped me."
"We will be there," Christian said.
"Can't wait to see her face."
*
Heather's POV:
I sat, munching cinnamon biscuits in my office. I was glad. Ace had told me about his successful plan. Everything was coming to an end.
I smiled to myself. My dad and uncle Paul would be avenged.
*
That night, while three of us watched a movie in Ace's apartment, someone rang the doorbell. I went to open. Shirley. We hugged happily.
"I missed you so much."
"Me too!"
I let her in and we went to the living room.
"Hi guys!" she said happily.
"Hi, Shirl," Ace smiled.
"Hey, Shirl," Keith smiled too.
I smiled at Shirley.
"Cmon, where's my gift?" I asked.
"Let's go to another room."
"Okay."
I pulled her all the way to Ace's room. She sat on the bed but I didn't.
"So?" I asked excitedly.
She smiled and took an object out of her bag.
"Here."
I took it. My eyes widened when I saw it. I panicked and automatically threw it on the floor.
"What's that??" I asked, confused and slightly shocked.
"You know what it is. A pregnancy test kit," she giggled like everything was alright.
"I know! But why the fuck are you giving it to me??"
Heather's POV:
I stared at a smiling Shirley in total confusion.
"This is not funny, Shirley. Why did you bring me this. And stop laughing."
She smiled.
"Sweetheart, I don't want to say or assume anything. But please, make a test."
I stared at her and goosebumps took over my skin.
"You think I'm pregnant?" I dared to ask.
"I didn't say anything. But are you?" she smirked.
My heartbeat increased.
"No!"
"What makes you say so?"
"Shirley, stop scaring me. I'm about to get angry. Please, take that thing and go away," I turned and backed her, holding myself.
"Don't be angry, Heather. It's wise for you to know in what condition you are. I'll leave. But I'll leave the test here. When you decide to do it, call me and tell me the result."
I turned to her in disbelief.
"Please, leave."
"Alright. Won't you accompany me to the door?"
I turned and accepted to accompany her to the door. She told the boys goodbye and left.
Ace's POV:
Heather closed the door and came back to join us. She didn't look alright.
"What's wrong, baby? You look odd."
She smiled, quickly.
"No, it's nothing."
I was about to talk again when my phone rang. It was a call from the sheriff.
"Hello, sheriff Bates?"
"Yes, hello Sheridan. I told the head of the police here, about your story. He agreed to help investigate. The files arrived from Blueville today."
"That's wonderful news."
"It sure is, my boy. We need you at the department tomorrow in the afternoon for your case filing against Christina. Bring those videos along."
"I will. Thank you so much."
"No problem, son. See you tomorrow."
"Yes, sir!"
I hung up and told the others about the news. Everyone was satisfied with the news.
*
During the lunch break the next morning, I copied the specific videos in which Christina, Rob and Elijah admitted to having killed my father and uncle Kenneth, into a USB key.
I told Heather goodbye and headed for the police department.
