Chapter 56
Macey looked around when everyone sat down and was wondering why there was no vacant seat.
"Where is he? Why is he not here?" Macey looked at Natasha and asked.
Edward's parents were wondering, why was Natasha's mother looking for someone?
"Who is Mom talking about, and who else is coming?" Natasha asked herself, then suddenly she figured out who is it.
"My mother is referring to Mr. Sam Miller."
"Did your mother seen Sam?" Penny asked.
If Natasha should have given the picture of Edward to her parents before, this will not happen. She felt embarrassed in front of Edward's parents.
"Mom, the person I will marry is not Sam, it is him, Edward." Natasha pointed to Edward next to her.
"Who?" Her mother asked again.
Macey was shocked and almost stood up when she saw Edward Busch, a disabled person, sitting in a wheelchair. She thought that her daughter would marry Oliver Ford, a famous good-looking businessman with good family background. Busch family is wearing just ordinary clothes, and the guy her daughter will marry is a disabled person. She taught that people would make stories about them. Compared to them, the Ford family was wearing famous brands. If her daughter becomes Oliver's wife, she will have a better future. But now, this happens, it will not be possible. While thinking all these, Macey wanted to walk out of the restaurant.
Penny picked up the menu, gave it to Macey, and said, "Auntie, see if you want something to eat?"
Macey looked at it and didn't speak.
Natasha gently pulled her and whispered, "Mom, can you say something?"
Looking at Macey, Natasha spoke for his mother.
"My mother can eat anything, sister, go ahead you can order."
Penny nodded and took the menu.
"Mrs. Quinn, we ask you to come here to discuss the marriage of our children. Natasha is a nice and beautiful girl. We like her very much." Mrs. Busch said.
The attitude of Edward's parents was sincere, which makes people unable to pick out anything wrong.
Macey didn't eat, her face looked angry, and she said, "Marriage is a very serious matter and this is a lifetime decision."
"Indeed, this is a lifelong matter for our children. But they love each other, so let's give our support for them." Melissa Busch didn't mind her attitude.
Edward's mother has never seen her son treated anyone so well, and even Alicia Walsh, his ex-fiancée, has never been treated so well before. Natasha is very kind to his son. The two of them loved each other, which was enough.
Macey was feeling disappointed looking at Edward in a wheelchair and the Busch family. It is not what she wanted for her daughter.
"My daughter is only eighteen years old and still young. I haven't thought about letting her get married yet." Macey said.
When Edward heard this, he was speechless and hurt. He knows that Macey wanted Natasha to marry Oliver from the Ford family before, and now she said these words to them.
"I am twenty years old, not eighteen." Natasha urgently said.
Macey looked at Natasha feeling annoyed. She was disappointed that her daughter will marry a disabled person.
"I will not agree to this marriage!" Macey said in a loud voice.
Natasha's biggest fear has happened. She should not let her mother come in the first place.
"Mom, I've made up my mind and I'm going to marry him. I already discussed it with Edward, and we signed an agreement." Natasha firmly said.
"Even if you made your decision, I will not let this happen. I am your mother, I know what is the best for you." Macey looked at Natasha with an angry face.
"I have grown up, and I make my own decisions." Natasha uttered.
"You don't listen to me and you become stubborn."
Natasha didn't want to quarrel with her mother in front of so many people. It was an embarrassing moment, especially in front of Edward's family.
She knew that this will happened; she should not let her mother come.
"Mrs. Quinn, you don't have to worry. I know that you don't want to let go of your only daughter but you can rest assured that we will treat Natasha sincerely and as our own daughter." Mrs. Busch said.
"Treat her as your daughter? I doubt it. Don't fool me. You thought that I don't know what are you planning? Look at your son, a dis..." Macey didn't say the rest, but everyone knew what she wanted to say.
Natasha was worried and looked at Edward for fear of hurting him. She remembered Edward's kindness and everything he did for her, but now her parents are hurting him.
"Am I still young? And whom I should marry that Oliver Ford? Ha?" Natasha said with teary eyes. She couldn't take the attitude of her mother anymore.
"What are you talking about? Who taught you to live in a man's house? You are shameless!" Macey replied.
After hearing those words from her mother, Natasha thought that her mother was selfish and worried only about her own interests.
Natasha was speechless, but at that moment, Edward did not leave her and instead held her hand.
"Mrs. Quinn, just want to tell you that Natasha and I are getting married. The wedding is scheduled on Natasha's birthday, so please come and attend. Everything has been prepared." Edward said with determination.
Macey just looked at him and said, "You can do whatever you want, but she is my daughter; I will have the final say."
"We have already signed a marriage agreement, and Natasha has agreed. We are already husband and wife, we just want to have a wedding ceremony. It has no effect for you to agree or disagree." Edward explained.
Natasha's mother was shocked and said in a loud voice, "You can't stand up; you can't even take care of yourself. Natasha will just become your personal assistant. You are not qualified to be my daughter's husband."
