"What school has a fire drill and an assembly back to back?" Faith groans out with annoyance as the five of us walk down a hill towards our designated teachers "Well, this school isn't like every other school" Bailey says She's not wrong there. "You look cold" Aurelia comments from beside me as the rest of our friend group continue to express their dislike for this sudden fire drill I understand their reasoning. It is the middle of October and it's freezing out here. Me, being an idiot, forgot to bring a jacket today so I'm practically shivering as we make our way towards the sophomore art teacher. "Wow, t-thanks for t-tell me" I reply sarcastically as I tighten my arms around myself She laughs at me only to begin removing her leather jacket causing me to glare at the black haired girl. How the hell does someone look good removing a leather jacket? "W-What are y-you doing?" I question as the wind begins to blow Are you fucking kidding me?! I sniffle as the wind tortures my already frozen. "I'm giving you my jacket" she replies as if it's the most obvious thing in the world Duh, Hanna. Why else would she be taking off her jacket? "No, I don't want it" I say defiantly gaining the attention of our friends Faith giving us a knowing look. Chadley looks proud. Bailey looks confused. Why is she confused? "Just take the fucking jacket, Hanna" Aurelia says with an eye roll as she holds the jacket out for me I groan out with irritation. I don't want to take it because of my pride. But I need to take it because I'm already losing feeling in my fingers. I roll my eyes before taking the jacket from her hands. As I'm sliding the leather jacket on I'm immediately engulfed in a sea of warmth. Oh, wow. This feels nice. "Did anyone else notice that she called her 'Hanna' instead of 'princess'?" Bailey questions with a shocked facial expression making me groan as I turn to face the golden haired girl "Shut up, Bailey" I grit out I need new friends. - "Today we're here to talk about future school events," our principal says from the stage as students continue to file into the huge auditorium Our auditorium is split into three sections. On the left and right there are a few rows of three side by side chairs versus in the middle where most of the chairs are located. In the middle of these sections there are walkways. Faith takes a seat near the wall, I sit beside her in the middle and Chadley sits beside me in the isle seat. Aurelia sits in front of Faith, Bailey sits in front of me and a stranger sits in front of Chadley. I glance at the stranger and notice that she kind of looks familiar. She has curly black hair and big hoops earrings. That's really all that I can see since the lighting isn't that good in here. They can afford bright ass lights for the classroom but not the auditorium? "First and foremost, school elections, they will be held at the end of this week," our principal continues as most of the room fills up Ugh. I hate school elections. The people running are always competitive and will do almost anything to get you to vote for them. And I mean anything! "Next, we will be having a pinked out football game tonight in honor of breast cancer" he continues to say but I block him out only to focus on the stranger across from me Who is this chick? Why does she look so familiar? I nudge Faith with my elbow and lean into her so that I don't disrupt our principal's speech. "Is it just me or does she look really familiar?" I whisper to her She glances at the mystery girl for a moment before shrugging and focusing her attention back on her cellphone. "She looks like every other freshman in this school" she replies making me roll my eyes at her answer Thanks for all the help, Faith. I nudge Chadley with my elbow and lean into him. "Does she look familiar to you?" I whisper as I point towards the same girl who is in front of him "Hanna, all I see is black hair" he says making me groan out with frustration Boys are hopeless! I swear I've seen this girl somewhere! Maybe Faith was right and she's just a freshman that I passed in the hallway. "We are going to be passing out short surveys regarding the changes that you guys would like to see happen to the school" the principal says as random teachers begin handing out square pieces of paper to each row Wow. He's really taking this school year seriously compared to last year. We each get handed a small piece of paper with an abundance of options as to what changes we would like to see happen to this school in the next few months. Great, so we won't see actual change until next school year. "Excuse me, do you have a pen?" Someone asks nicely from in front of me That voice sounds very familiar. "No, I'm sor-" I begin to say as I look up only for my eyes to land on the mystery girl Well, her identity isn't a mystery anymore. Her eyes widen when they land on me. "Hanna?" She says with a confused tone of voice No. It's a slice of banana bread. Ohh. I could really go for a slice of banana bread right now. "Ava?" I say just as confused causing Bailey, Faith and Chadley to tense up Oh. Now y'all bitches remember her! "What are you doing here?" I say, my anger beginning to rise at the nerve that this girl has "I was on vacation in bora bora but had to come back because my mom had unfinished business," she replies with an eye roll only for it to morph into a smirk "I see that you've changed since I've been gone" She comments as she thoroughly checks me out, her eyes lingering on my chest longer than everything else This bitch- "My eyes are up here, perv" I grit out at her with a glare I fucking hate snakes. Her eyes meet mine again with a dark look in her eyes. Disgusting. "You're hot, we should hook up sometime" she says effortlessly with a wink before standing up and exiting the crowded auditorium What the hell just happened?! First she pretends to be my best friend for years. Then she fucks my first ever boyfriend on his and I's ten month anniversary. She disappears mysteriously without a trace. And then has the nerve to come back and hit on me as if nothing happened. Who does that?! Why would someone do that?! "Ugh, I fucking hate that bitch" Faith spits as Bailey glares at the seat that the snake was just sitting in I glance over at Aurelia only to see that her jaw is set in a tight line and a storm is brewing in her usually calm grey eyes. "So do I" Chadley mutters making me glare at him "You couldn't of hated her that much if you slept with the snake!" I say Okay. I admit that was a little harsh. "We didn't do anything, plus she talked about you literally all the time" he states matter of factly making my mood worse Ugh. It's the beginning of this year all over again. "What do you mean by 'she talked about Hanna all the time'?" Faith questions "After Hanna broke up with me because she thought I cheated, Ava was obsessed with finding out things about her" he says making me furrow my brows Why the hell did he stop?! "Things like what?" I question beginning to feel weirded out "Things she didn't already know, like your turn ons, your favorite kissing style, basically stuff that only couples would know about each other" he says making me shift awkwardly in my seat Well, this is awkward. "What the fuck?" Bailey curses Aurelia seems to be deep in thought. Her facial expression is hard, not giving anything that's running through her mind away. "She's planning something, I know she is" Aurelia finally says "Do you have any idea what it might be?" I ask curiously She's smart. Surely she has an idea as to why Ava is acting this way. "No" she says timidly She hesitated. She's lying. Why is she lying? "Okay students, please pass your surveys back to the teacher at the end of your row" the principal says Ugh. In the midst of all of this I forgot to take this stupid survey thing. - I close my locker and turn around, getting ready to meet up with Aurelia so that we can head to my house, only to be roughly pushed against the hard metal. My hazel eyes widen when they land on a pair of snake eyes. Shit. "Hey, babe" she says seductively making me internally gag What is up with this girl?! She used to barely speak a paragraph to me. Now she's flirting with me. "What do you want?" I say hoping that if I give her the time of day she'll go back to ignoring me "Right now, to fuck you" she says without batting an eye What the actual fuck! "Why? Got tired of fucking my boyfriend behind my back?" I fire back as I tilt my head at her She smirks at my answer, her eyes taking in the entirety of my face. "I didn't actually sleep with him, I made it seem like we were sleeping together" she says matter of factly making me furrow my eyebrows at the black haired snake "What do you mean?" I question her causing her to roll her eyes at me "I snuck into his room, he tried to get me out, I heard you coming up the stairs and made it seem like we were about to sleep with each other" she lists off as if it was a normal thing What the- I give her a disgusted facial expression as I push her out of my path. "What is wrong with you?!" I exclaim as I hear her follow me towards the front doors God. Where is Aurelia when you need her? "I did what I had to do" she states as if it's obvious Did what you had to do?! I turn around and glare at the girl in front of me. "Oh yeah, and what was that?" I question Boy was I not expecting the answer that I got. "Get rid of the distraction so that I could have you all to myself again" she says What? That doesn't make any sense. "Sleeping with my boyfriend and causing us to break up isn't going to magically make us be friends again!" I state as if this girl has completely lost her mind Did she get brain damage while she was in bora bora?! Has she always been this way? "I didn't think you actually liked him that much" she replies making me furrow my brows Please, tell me that she's lying. "Why would I date someone that I didn't like?" I question genuinely wanting to hear her answer "For attention" she states as if it's obvious making me glare at her Before I get the chance to tell her off for basically calling me an attention seeker someone's arms wrap around my waist from behind, pressing me against their front. Judging by the well developed pair of boobs that I feel on my shoulders, I'm assuming that it's a girl. "I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't talk to Hanna" Aurelia says making me relax in her hold What?! Better Aurelia than a stranger. Ava gives her a confused look before smirking mischievously. "Aurelia Kingsbury, Amanda Kingsbury's daughter, the both of you work for 'Thunder' although her real name is-" Ava lists off without taking a breath making me furrow my brows What? "How do you know that?" I question I didn't even know the last bit. Who's 'Thunder'? From my knowledge, they don't know each other. Never even met, in fact. "Our parents know each other" Aurelia replies with a hard tone of voice making me raise a brow "Oh, so they're friends?" I question genuinely "Something like that," the snake replies with a smirk Oh, what I'd do to burn that smirk off her face. "I have to go, see you soon, babe" she says before walking away from us Ugh. My year is officially ruined, again! By the same person too! I step out of Aurelia's warm grasp and turn around to face the black haired girl. "I don't want to tell you what to do, but I want you to stay away from her, she's bad news" she informs me If I wasn't so annoyed with this whole Ava situation then I'd be teasing her for being jealous. "You don't have to tell me twice, there's something weird going on with her" I state more than willingly "You don't even know the half of it" she mutters making me furrow my brows Does she know something? "What?" I question "Nothing, come on, you know how much Faith's mom hates to wait" she says beginning to walk away from me "Uh, okay" I reply chasing after her That was weird.
