Chapter 32
After Aurelia and I's heartfelt moment the both of us mutually decided that it would be best to be friends, at least until we figure our shit out.
My mom has been stressing out for the past three days because of my spontaneous sickness.
It was literally just a fever.
I am currently wearing a silky black off the shoulder cropped top which I paired with a pair of high waisted denim ripped jeans. For shoes I chose my pair of white low top converse and for my hair I just curled it.
"Hanna, why are you dressed?" My mom asks with a confused facial expression as I descend down the stairs
Oh, right.
I forgot to tell her that I am feeling better.
"I have school" I state as I walk into the kitchen and grab an apple from our fruit bowl
She stares at me with an 'have you lost your mind' facial expression.
"Hanna" my mom goes to say only for the doorbell to go off
Thank god.
"Mom, I'm way better than I was yesterday," I state as I walk towards the front door
I quickly unlock the door before swinging it open to reveal a smirking Aurelia who is leaning against our doorframe.
How long was she standing out there?
"Plus, Aurelia will be with me all day" I say since I know my parents have a soft spot for the girl
My mom sighs, placing her head in her hands. She thinks for a couple of seconds before silently waving me off.
"Thanks Mom, love you" I say as I exit the house
"You're going to drive your mom crazy one of these days" Aurelia states with a small laugh as we walk towards Bailey's Mom's car
I lightly laugh at this.
"You may be right" I agree as I think about how much I have stressed her out these past three days
I greet a tired Bailey with a smile before climbing into the backseat, the black haired girl following after me.
I take this time to sneakily check out Aurelia's outfit.
The grey eyed girl is wearing a burnt red tee with a pair of ripped black skinny jeans. For shoes she chose a pair of black and white high top converse and for hair she left it wavy and parted to the side.
"Hanna, stop drooling over Aurelia, I need coffee" Bailey groans tiredly from the passenger seat
I look out the window only to notice that we are at a different coffee shop than the one we usually go to.
Well, that explains how we got here so quickly.
-
I missed more school work these past three days than I thought I would miss, which means that I probably have to pull an all-nighter to finish all of it.
Anyway, it is currently lunch and all the food sucks.
The pizza looks dry today.
The salads always taste bad.
And the tacos smell rotten.
"I can order us an Uber and we can go get you some food?" Aurelia offers but I shake my head
We only have forty minutes to eat lunch today versus our usual hour because of the presidential elections.
Our principal decided to do them a week early.
"Hanna, just eat my fruit" Bailey states motioning towards her cup of pineapple
I cringe at the cup of cheap fruit.
"I'm not in the mood for school pineapples" I state
They are dry and taste like leaves most of the time.
I am in the middle of pouting when Faith walks up to us awkwardly.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" She asks me
I furrow my eyebrows but ultimately nod at her.
I get up and she leads us away from the cafeteria and towards a secluded hallway.
"Faith, are you okay?" I ask her as we continue to walk
I have never seen Faith be this quiet or nervous before.
She suddenly stops mid step and turns to face me, nervously biting her top lip.
"I don't know what you heard or saw, but I didn't kiss her, I don't even like Aurelia's that way-" Faith begins to rant out
I am unable to stop a smile from forming on my face at her dorkiness.
"Faith" I try to interrupt her but she continues to rant
"She's not my type, I am more into brunettes- wait that's not the point, Hanna I respect you so fucking much and I would never ever do anything to jeopardize our friendship" she finishes with a slightly flustered facial expression
I walk up to her and place my hand on her bicep area.
"Faith, I know, Aurelia told me three days ago" I tell her
She gives me a lost deer look before a smile breaks out across her face.
"You don't hate me?" She asks
"Why would I hate you for having an eyelash in your eye?" I state making her groan with obvious annoyance at the whole situation
"That eyelash took forever to get out" she tells me
I laugh at her annoyed facial expression.
I go to tell her that we should head back only to be interrupted by a gasp. I turn around and my eyes instantly meet Chadley's.
"Hi, Chadley" I greet with a genuine smile
He doesn't reply as he pulls me into a bone crushing hug, lifting me up off the tile flooring.
Oh.
Wow.
Okay.
I cannot breathe.
I begin to cough but it comes out weird since he is crushing my ribs.
"Chadley, Let go of her, she can't breathe" Faith scolds
She successfully pushes him away from me, allowing air to enter my lungs again.
Fuck, that hurt.
Maybe I should have stayed home.
-
"What are you doing, Kingsbury?" I sigh out as she blindly leads me through the empty hallway
My coffee from this morning is wearing off.
I did not have any lunch today which means that I have no energy.
This morning my mom kept checking on me, which I appreciate, but the light in the hallway made it harder for me to sleep.
So, it is safe to assume that I am due to collapse at any moment.
"Shh, we're almost there" she replies
We are supposed to be in the auditorium.
That is were the elections are taking place.
Yet here we are.
I am currently wearing a black blindfold as she drags me down the hallway towards a so called 'surprise'.
This better be food.
"We are supposed to be in the auditorium" I weakly try to persuade but let her continue to drag me towards the unknown location
She laughs at me before suddenly stopping me and turning me to the side.
I go to ask her why we stopped only for her to begin removing my blindfold.
Fuck.
Why is it so fucking bright?!
It is literally the beginning of November.
I groan as the bright light assaults my pupils.
When my eyes finally adjust I turn towards the black haired girl and just give her an 'are you serious' facial expression.
She deadass blindfolded me and lead me to my fucking locker.
I see this fucking piece of metal every single day!
"Just open it, princess" she tells me, trying not to laugh at my facial expression
I roll my eyes at the grey eyed girl.
"I swear to god, Kingsbury, if something jumps out at me" I threaten as I start to type in my locker combination
She laughs at me as she goes to lean against the locker next to mine.
I open my locker and glance around it only for my eyes to immediately land on food.
My wishes have been answered.
I slowly lick my lips as my eyes stay on a paper bag labeled 'In-N-Out'.
"I'm assuming that you like it judging by the look in your eye" Aurelia jokes
I turn my head to face her, suddenly remembering that she was standing right there.
"How did you do this, You've been with me the whole time?!" I question with a shocked tone of voice
"I know people," She teases with a wink
She grabs the bag of food and closes my locker.
"Come on, the theater teacher said that we could use his room" she says making my eyes widen
What the-
How did she-?
"How did you-" I begin to say only to be cut off
"He owed me a favor," Bailey says walking up to us with a evil smile
They planned this?
Aww.
I love my friends.
"Now, come on, I have to keep look out" Bailey says before twirling around and leading us towards the classroom
I am so freaking happy right now that I could pass out!
Or that might just be from hunger.
-
"Beautiful" Aurelia comments as I take a large bite of my sandwich
I roll my eyes at her as my cheeks begin to heat up, I place my cheeseburger down and use one of my hands to cover my messy mouth.
Ugh.
Fuck.
This tastes so good.
When I am really hungry and finally get to eat it always tastes different.
I think that food tastes different in general whenever you are extremely hungry.
"Shut up, Kingsbury" I say after I swallow my mouthful food
I remove my hand from my face when I notice her still staring at me.
I give her a 'what are you looking at' facial expression.
She stands up from the random desk that she was sitting at and walks over to me.
I am currently sitting on top of the theater teacher's wooden desk with my legs crossed indian style.
She stops in front of me and bends down so that our faces are a few inches away from each other.
My body involuntarily freezes as I stare into her darkening grey eyes.
My heartbeat instantly speeds up as she smirks down at me, her eyes slowly trailing down my face.
She brings her hand up to the side of my face making me gasp in surprise.
I eagerly wait for her to make a move only for her to back away from me with an amused smirk.
My jaw drops open as she places her thumb in her mouth, licking it sexually.
"Aren't you a vegan?" I question the girl making her furrow her brows
"It was ketchup" she states
My eyes widen as I awkwardly turn away from her, so that I am facing the brick wall, before picking up my cheeseburger and taking another bite.
If I just pretend like I did not want her to take me right here on this desk then it did not happen.
I do not think that is how it works.
Ugh.
There is a knock on the door before the door opens and Bailey walks in.
"Sorry, I didn't know if you guys were," She trails off awkwardly looking from side to side
We do not have sex that much!
I blush but choose to stay silent as I take another bite of my cheeseburger.
"Anyway, you guys have ten minutes before everyone begins to exit the auditorium" she informs us
I nod my head at the brunette.
Aurelia thanks her with a smile as she throws her trash away.
Bailey exits so that she can go back to guarding the door.
I swallow my final bite of my cheeseburger before crumbling up my wrapper paper and jumping off the desk.
I am too lazy to walk towards the garbage can, which is a good eight feet away.
"Do you want me to throw it away for you?" Aurelia asks as she sees me staring at the trash can with a focused look
I smile at her nice gesture but shake my head.
"No, I'm good" I say
I bring my hand up and angle it a certain way, making sure it aligns above the bin, before throwing the wrapper from an upper angle.
The wrapper effortlessly lands in the trash bin making me smile.
Laziness pays off.
Sometimes.
"Yes, you are. When did you learn that?" She says with an amused facial expression
I turn to face her with a bright smile.
"It's my secret talent, don't tell anyone" I reply, bringing my pointer finger up and positioning it against my lips in a 'shh' motion
Aurelia smiles at this, nodding her head.
