CHAPTER 29 NEOLA I watch him go. The helicopter quickly fades in the morning as it flies farther. Edam pat my back as tears fell on my cheeks. "Your highness, stop crying. Don't you know the saying?" I glared at Jace, I shook my head, not answering him. "When it's winter, don't cry outside because your face will freeze!" He hover his hands over my face and draw it back making me laugh at him as I slap his hand back. "That's the smile I love to see." He smiles at me and pat my back, "Let's go. We will go down the mountain using the jet ski, you like that, right?" I nodded my head, thankful because I don't have to fly via helicopter. Flying scares me the most. Edam strap me on the seat, put a helmet on my head and ask me to hold on his waist. The others ride on separate jet ski's, the guards following close behind. I scream in exhilaration as we go down the mountain. It is very exciting. "Your highness, " Edam knock on my helmet and I open my eyes, hearing him laugh, "We are here." He help me remove the helmet as I stood from the jet ski. Jace open the door of the limo and let me inside. "Where are we going?" I whispered at Kent who is sitting next to me. Sebin close the door and settled next to me. "Home, back to your apartment." "But Lyle is still in the loose. What if—" "I know what you are thinking." Sebin says as he looks at me, "I told them so but Jace thinks that Lyle will take the bait and attack. We will be ready to that then. We can finally catch that lad, if he takes the bait." He nodded to himself, as if satisfied of his answer. I need even though I can see many holes in their plan. Lyle is smart. He is not easily lured into this half baked plan. He will figure it out if they are not careful. "Don't worry, " Kent smiled at me and put a reassuring hand on my shoulder, "We are here with you. That lad won't harm you, I promise." "Thanks, " I muttered, looking at Edam and Jace as we went back to the city. * "Wait, " Edam says as we stop in front of the apartment. "I will check the perimeter with Kent before you enter, alright?" I nod at him and watch as they went inside. I look at Jace to see him dozing off, earphones on his ear. I glance at Sebin to see him looking at me. He suddenly bowed down, ashamed of being caught. "Sebin, " he looks up and focuses his gaze on me. "Yes, your highness?" "Have you notice Fleur blushing when she looks at you? Do you have something going on between you and her?" His eyes widened at my question. He scratch his ears and stuttered, "No. Nothing between me...I mean us, nothing between me ahd your highness." His ears became red, he looks at me before bowing. I put a hand on his back and sigh, "Sebin, you are the most odd of all the royal guards you know. But even if you are like that, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful you are for a guy. I am pretty sure, Fleur fell for your looks for she blushes every time she sees you..." Sebin's eyes widen once again before he blush. "I guess so. But maybe you are mistaken. She loves the prince, she is willing to marry him..." "But you love her, don't you?" He nodded quickly, looking back at Jace who is snoring softly. "I do. But I can't fight for her. The king would surely kill me if he found out. Also, I am not sure if she loves me too...she seems distant nowadays. I don't know if what she said back at the forest is true." "The forest?" "Yes, a few days ago before the snow has stick to the ground. She confess to me and we kissed. I was so afraid then, I don't know what I will do if we were caught. When we heard the horses galloping, we broke off and went back to the castle. That's when the king was brought to the hospital." So they were the ones who were kissing. Not Luke and Fleur but actually Sebin and Fleur. What are the odds? The revelation left me speechless. "I really don't know what to do, your highness. My heart is bursting with happiness but I can't stand against the king's orders. I will be killed." He sigh looking at me. I sigh. We were so engorged in our own thoughts when Edam knock on the windows, waking Jace up. "All clear, let's go up!" Jace open the door and we went out, "Ya, what's with the red ear?" Jace scold Sebin who stood there, his face redder than his ears. "You are even blushing, you punk!" * "What would you like to eat for dinner?" Kent, Edam, Jace and Sebin look up from the scrabble game they are playing. Jace scratch his head and says, "Oddly enough, I am craving some fries." "I would like pasta and potatoes...if possible, " Kent bowed down, blushing. "And you, Edam, Sebin?" "Anything is fine with us." Edam smiled at me and I snatch my coat behind the sofa. Sebin just nodded and gave me a timid smile. The thought about him and Fleur clawed at the back of my mind. It seems that he is also thinking about her too seeing as he can't even answer me. Though Fleur was a noble, she wouldn't simply fall for a knight because of their high status. I look back at Sebin and notice how regal he looks, his features the likes of a royalty. I guess Fleur has fallen for his looks and his oddities. I pet Maple before taking my keys. "Wait, where are you going?" Jace inquired as I made my way towards the door, "I'll buy some supplies. We need to eat you know?" I rolled my eyes at him as I sigh. "I'll go with you." Jace stood and took his coat. He stand beside me and turn the knob. And a loud bang echoed. Jace fell down on the floor, screaming as the wound on his arm bleeds. "Jace!" I got down and tried to stop the wound from bleeding but my hands are of no use. I look up to see Lyle aiming the gun at me. "Lyle please, stop. Don't do this, " he pulled me up from the floor and aim the gun at the others. "Shoot me and this girl will die, " Lyle snapped, his eyes wide. He glare down at me and slowly we back up. I was trembling. I couldn't think straight. His grip om my arm tighten as he focus the gun on the others. Sebin is talking on the phone while Kent and Edam aim the gun at Lyle. We are about to reach the stairs when something whizz on my hair and hit Lyle. He collapse down on the floor. I was shocked, I couldn't speak or scream. I sat down on the floor, staring at Lyle as the side of his head bleeds. I look down the stairs to see Luke, eyes hard as he made his way up. He took me in his arms, "It's fine. You are fine." I was frozen. I still can't speak. "I've called the police. They'll be here soon, " Kent declared as he put the phone down. "How about the paramedics? We need to rush Jace to the hospital, " Edam says before checking Lyle's pulse. He looks at me and sigh, "He is still alive, for now." I bit my lip and stare down at Lyle, his eyes wide open as he gurgled, blood coming out of his mouth. "Lo-lois.." He whispered, eyes trained on me. I scoot next to him, brushing his hair. "Do you think—" he cough out blood, taking my hand, "In another life...you would lo-love me back?" his words pinch my heart. I wipe the tears on the side of his cheeks and smile down at him. "Maybe, Lyle. If fate permits it, I guess I could." He smiles at me, coughing more blood. He stares at Luke and tries to crawl towards him. Luke stood there, his face unreadable as he looks at Lyle. "Take care of her, please..." Lyle smiled at him making Luke nod. Lyle was turning paler by the second, blood has come out of his nose and he is breathing heavily. "Je t'aime, Loisa...forever and always." He whispered before his soul left his eyes. The dull look on his eyes made me tear up. How tragic his life is to have suffered like this even if he do me wrong. I think he deserve much more than this. A few moments passed before the medics finally arrived. They took Jace to the ambulance before putting Lyle's corpse inside a body bag. I smoothen his hair for the last time and close his eyes, "Rest in peace, mon ami..." I put a kiss on his forehead and let them close the body bag. Luke silently stood next to me, his face void of emotions. As they go, he whispered, "Do you hate me for killing him?" His lips were pale. He is also shock of what he has done. I close the distance between us and hug him, "No, of course not. You just did what you have to do. I am thankful because you save me, " The tears I've been trying to suppress fell down in their own accord. "Don't leave me just yet, " Luke tighten his hold on me as his body trembles. We cried together, his arms around me as I hug his waist. I close my eyes, thankful of the comfort he has provided me. "I won't Luke, I will stay..." 계속 Heyooooo, how are you all?
