Right, I am so sorry that I didn't update as soon as I promised. So sorry :( * CHAPTER 31 FLEUR My hands are trembling as I stare at Luke coming out behind the curtain. He have heard it all. I might have doubt it but base on his actions, he knows. I square up my shoulder and said, "Let's have a talk, Luke." He looks shocked to see me there. He cleared his throat and followed me back to my room. I open the door and ask him to go inside. I follow him and sat on the chair. He sat on the balcony and looks out in the evening sky. He seems deep in thought. I tuck my hair on my ear and glance down on my hands. "it is all true. What you've heard, it is true." I look at him to see that he still staring at the evening sky like he doesn't even care. "Luke do you even listen to what I am saying? It is all-" "I know, " He smiles at me and stood. He crosses his arms and sigh. He looks at me, and smiled, " I know about you and him." I look down on my hands and ring my fingers. "Don't worry. I won't tell the king." "You won't?" "Yes." My heart beats fast at his answer. If he won't tell the king then is it possible for me and Sebin to be together? I couldn't voice out my thoughts. Instead I look at him as he sat next to me. "Fleur. Do you not love me? Is it really for your family which is why you agreed?" I bit my lip and nod at him. "Well, it is settled then." "What do you mean?" "We break off the engagement, you go back to Sebin while I go back to Neola. As simple as that." I glared at him and his confidence of making it appear simple. "Luke, it is not as simple as that." "Yeah. I know. It is not as simple as that but really, it will appear like it." He scratch his head and stood from his seat, "I think I have to prepare my speech before I speak with the king. It might take hours of discussion but I am determine." He put his hand on my shoulder and smiled, "Don't worry about it okay? Sleep tight for tonight and prepare yourself for tomorrow." "Do you really love her?" my voice is barely above a whisper. I was surprise when Luke turns around and look at me. "I do." He sat down on the bed and lean back. "I believe, I love her more than life that I am wiling to risk it. I love her so much I agreed to let her go for I want her to live a normal life. She never wanted grandeur, she is satisfied of the simplicity that makes her think twice when she's with me." "That's the only reason that you two separated? Why you choose me over her?" he shook his head and sat up, "Nope. The king choose you, not me. If possible, I will rule alone and wait for her for she is the only girl for me. The only woman I'll ever love." "Then why did you not fight for her if you really want her?" he looks at me, his eyes hard. "I tried hard to convince her to stay but I couldn't. She is so focused on what the king had told her. She believes that you will make a better queen considering that you are chosen by the king." I bowed my head, quite ashamed on how I have treated Neola. There's so many things I didn't know about that girl. I shouldn't have treated her so harsh. "She is strong though, she can be dependent of you and stand on her own. For her to accept your decision, it takes a lot of courage to do that." "Yes. She did accept my decision but now as we talk, I realise how shallow my reasons are, our reasons are." I nod, agreeing with him. "About Sebin, you do love him don't you?" "Unfortunately, yes...I fell for that pretty lad, " he smirk at me and I sigh, "He is so charming and kind. He's been a good friend to me." I smiled, imagining the first time I met Sebin at the halls. How I freeze in front of him and couldn't help but swoon. He is just so pretty for a boy. "I can't believe he loves me too." "We are really going to fight the king's decision, then?" I nod once again, still tongue tied of all the revelation I have said and heard. A moment passed before Luke stood. He scratch his head and said, "I should go. There's so many things I still need to think about." He walks off, waving, "All for love." I smiled and repeat after him, "All for love, " he bows before he went out of the door leaving me with my thoughts. * I sat up. I couldn't rest that well. I need to tell the queen now. My mind is filled with words, apologies to be exact. I went out of my room and headed towards the study. I breathe in, before knocking on the door. The queen was surprise when I entered. Snow is softly falling by the balcony and the furnace is blazing. "Fleur, what brought you here this late?" I curtsied before I walk towards her bowing, "My queen, I have to ask for an apology." "What for?" She looks so shock, she quickly stood. "I would like to ask an apology for being so selfish. I have claimed to love the crown prince but the truth is that my heart belongs to someone." "Really? It is?" She clap her hands together and gave me a wide smile. She pulls me towards the sofa and we sat next to each other. "Tell me then, who is it? A knight?" I just nod at her, not giving Sebin's name. She seems satisfied of my answer since she pull me in for a hug. Afterwards she stood, "If that so, everything can work out well with Luke." "You will help us then?" She nods and continue, "The king is stubborn but this reasons will help us win him. It will be tough but he will give away. We can't marry you two seeing as the both of you do not agree to a mutual feeling. Tonight, I will send out the message to stop the announcement about your engagement. Don't worry, we will compensate your family." I breathe out a sigh of relief, thankful of the Queen's quick wit. We sat there in front of the furnace, both thinking about what will happen tomorrow. The queen went back to her table to make some calls while I continue to sit there, waiting for her order. "Once you wake up tomorrow, don't head for breakfast. I will ask the maids to prepare your meal and your things. You will go down once I call you. Me and Luke need to speak with the king first before you see him. I have to make sure that he will agree with us, seeing as he is so into you, it was such a waste that he will loose." I nodded at the queen as I listen to her. "What about my things? Should I leave once I met the king? Would he even allow me to go and be with my lover? He will surely be angry." "Oh yes, he will. He will possibly bang his hand on the table but it is already there. He can't make things work now that you have yield. All we have to do is convince him." The queen looks so happy I couldn't help but smile. Who would have thought that me falling for the wrong guy is actually a blessing in disguise? My family will surely be devastated of the news but they will accept us. Sebin told me so. He will prove to them that he is worthy of my love. "Tomorrow, I'll ask Luke to do something. This will surely win us the fight. As for you, you have to talk to your lover to assure that he will have the courage in this fight." She motions for me to go and I stood. "Oh wait, " She ends the call and ask, "Are you sure that he loves you?" I nodded but it doesn't seem to convince her as she ask once again, "Really truly sure that he will fight for you?" "Oui, " I bowed and she nods back, finally satisfied. "okay then, I will make some calls then I will sleep. Tomorrow will be a very long day." She sigh, turning her back on me. I turn the knob and went outside only to come face to face with Sebin. He close the door and pulled me back towards my room. "You told them?" "Yes. I have come to terms with Luke. He will help us, the queen too. We can finally be together, Sebin. I know my family will accept-" The ringing phone startled the both of us.
