CHAPTER 50: ALEX's NIGHTMARE
Alex's POV:
I've been driving for almost three hours since this morning when I received a text message from Francine. So, I have to stop searching for my wife in a while, to know what this woman wanted this time.
It's been four days since Rian was missing. We already reported her case to the police, but every hour of every day has been a torturing day to me. And it was like living in hell every time I saw our wedding picture inside of our room.
I pulled over in front of the restaurant, and I saw her right away as soon as I stepped inside the entrance.
"What do you want?" I asked her not even bother to take a seat.
She chuckled and gestured me to sit down.
"Come on, Alex. Is that the right way to talk to the mother of your child?"
"He's not my son!" I slammed my hand on top of the table but she didn't even flinch. It also caused a little scene for those customers near our table.
"You can take a seat, so we can talk about this matter properly. You don't want that perky eyes around you to watch you talking until we finish this conversation." she said, still grinning.
I don't have a choice but to sit on the chair across her seat.
"Tsk.Tsk. You're still the Alex I know-------"
"Just stop beating around the bush and tell me what you want!" I said through gritted teeth.
"Yeah, the Alex I know... still impatient. Tsk.Tsk.Tsk." she said shaking her head, then throw me a white small envelope.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "What's this?"
"Opened it." She shrugged.
My heart began to hammer inside my chest when I read the first three letters outside the envelope. DNA. I opened it slowly, silently praying I was right... that Dino was not my child. But what I saw inside, almost make my blood drained from my body and my hands become cold.
PATERNITY REPORT:
Alleged Father: Alexander Jonathan Smith
Name of the child: Dino Joshua Imperial
-----------------------------------------------------------------
INTERPRETATION:
Combined Paternity Index: 1,900,000,000
Probability of Paternity: 99,999999%
That only means the child was really mine.
"That's the result of the DNA test we requested two days ago."
-'Oh, God! How would I explain this to my wife?'-
And because I am too focused on reading the results and contemplating my thoughts, I missed the different spark of evilness from her eyes and her lips.
"See? I told you, Alex! Dino is your son! He's our child!"
"If he's my son, why did you take this long to show me that I have a son?"
"Because by that time, I know I can support him. But as he grows up, it also doubled his needs, and since you're his father, maybe it's now time to support your child! You've been out for his life in almost four years!"
I gulped as I couldn't form any words after that. Dino is my son. My phone vibrates inside my jacket. I frowned when I saw it's Belle who's calling.
"Hello, B-------"
"Alex, we already confirmed Rian's location!" she didn't let me finish my greeting. But hearing my wife's name, I quickly stand.
"Where is she?" I asked not bothering to look at the woman in front of me. I took the results and walked straight to the exit of the restaurant. She shouted my name behind me, but I just ignored her. I can deal with her some other time, just not right now.
"She's in Paradise Hotel and Resort. She opened her phone this morning, so Bryan got the opportunity to locate where she is."
"Thank you, Belle. And please say my thank you to your friend. I promise, I'm gonna make it up to you guys as soon as this thing's over."
I half-run and half-walk on my way to the parking lot, with my phone in my right hand and the papers in my left.
"Don't worry about it. Please, get Rian back, Alex."
"I will. I promise."
I said with full determination before I ended the call. Actually, I really don't know if I can get her back so easily this time. And her location----Paradise Hotel and Resort? I remember that's the place where all that we have right now were started.
I just throw the papers in the back seat. I don't want to think about it right now. What's the most important for me as this moment is to talk to my wife, get her back and explain everything to her. Although I don't really know where to start.
It's four hours of driving before I can get to that resort, and if I will start to drive right now, maybe I can be right there before 12:00 noon
And because I've been distracted by my thoughts, it didn't really cross my mind to fasten my seatbelt and I just throw my phone over the dashboard. I also forgot to put my bluetooth headphone. I started the engine and started to drive to where my wife is.
I've already spent two hours of driving when my phone ring again, but it's in the dashboard. I am now approaching the intersection and I didn't notice the stoplight in my line has turned red and green on the left side of the intersection. I continue to drive while still reaching for my phone.
And the next moment was something I didn't even imagined all my life... not now, not ever. Something solid and hard-hit me on my side before I found myself flying.. since when did I learn to fly? But I don't see any wings? Am I having a dream?
But when I saw the shattered glasses and blood the blood flowing almost all over my body, then I realized I wasn't dreaming. It's a nightmare. A nightmare of reality. And the last thing on my mind before I lost my consciousness is my wife.. how would I explain everything to her...when I'm gone?

Rian's POV:
"Oh my God!"
I screamed when I accidentally dropped the mug from my hand. It landed four inches away from my feet.
Then Jordan and Eric rushed towards the kitchen of their small studio, when they heard my scream.
"What happened Rian?"
"What happened Kelley?"
They both asked me in unison with both concern laced on their voice.
"Kelley, are you okay?" That was Eric who still calling me by my maiden name, even he already know that I am no longer a Kelley, but Smith.
"You looked pale, Rian! Don't move, I'm gonna get a broom!"
Jordan suddenly disappeared in front of us, and because I am stubborn as ever, I bend down to pick the big pieces of the broken mug. But in my wrong move, my hand brushed on one of the sharp edge which caused to cut my skin and bleed immediately.
"Ouch!" I said when I felt the sudden sting.
Eric rushed towards me and take my hand which is now bleeding.
"Why did you do that? Jordan told you, don't move! Haist! Hardheaded woman!" He let me sit in the nearest chair and get the first aid kit from the kitchen cabinet.
And suddenly, there's a cold wind hit my skin, that makes me shiver.
"Hey! What happened to your hand?" Jordan came with a broom and a dustpan in his hands.
"I----" but before I could answer, Eric beat me and glared at me.
"She tried to pick the broken glass, and then that's the result!"
"Rian! Rian! Rian! Haist! I'm gonna get old faster because of your stubbornness!"
Eric and I just chuckled at him. But deep inside, I started to feel uneasy and a bit nervous.. and I don't know why. And there's one person I think of at this moment. Alex... my husband.
