Chapter Twenty Four
Third Person Pov
"Are you guys done fighting now or is this going to go on forever?" Jessie asked with a tired look on her face.
She was very stressed out at the moment and the fight between her brothers didn't help make matters any better.
"Listen, guys, I know that you people probably have it at the back of your minds that I'm making the wrong decision by supporting Gabriella because of how the situation could turn out and I'm not going to ask you guys to trust her because you're not the one in a relationship with her, I am, but if you can't trust her, how about you trust me instead and trust that I would never support someone capable of trying to harm another person?" Liam said, trying to make his siblings understand where he was coming from as well.
Even though Corey had said what you said only because of the issues that they had, he couldn't dispute the fact that Corey made a valid point and even though Tyler, Cassidy and Jessie didn't seem to be bothered by Corey's words, he knew that they would still have it at the back of their heads and he wanted to talk about it and clarify the entire situation once and for all.
"I'm going, to be honest with you, I don't know this Gabriella and I don't trust her because she's an absolute stranger to me but the reason why I'm just not saying anything concerning the entire situation is that I trust that you won't support someone capable of murder. I could be wrong and it could turn out that you are simply blinded by the love that you have for her but until the court proves that she's guilty, I don't intend on condemning her," Cassidy said and Jessica nodded in agreement.
"I agree with Cassidy on this one. I also don't know this Gabriella chick and I can't say for sure if she's capable of murder or not and to be honest with you, I agreed with Corey when he said that you were making a wrong choice by standing behind someone that could put us in jeopardy but thinking about it again, I realised that I had no right to assume whether or not she was guilty and I can only hope that she's innocent and that everything is going to work out well in the end," Jessica added.
Liam was thankful that his siblings didn't seem to be upset with him in any way and they seemed to be cool with the fact that he was still supporting Gabriella regardless of the situation. He also noticed that Corey was now silent again and knowing the kind of person that Corey was, he knew that Corey was upset and he didn't think that it would be right for them to end this meeting on such a bad note.
"Corey, I understand why you don't want to trust Gabriella and I'm not going to accuse you of trying to be malicious towards me because it's possible that your anger towards the situation is what is making it seem that way but I need you to just know that I wouldn't put the company in danger and I wouldn't risk our family name if I didn't believe wholeheartedly that Gabriella was innocent," Liam said, facing Corey directly.
"If I had the slightest doubt that she could have done something like that, then I would have withdrawn from the case completely and moved on but I'm certain that Gabriella had nothing to do with Martin's accident and I can't possibly abandon her when she needs me the most," he said, hoping that Liam would try to understand where he was coming from.
"I don't care if you think that I'm trying to be malicious with you and not but I'm still going to stand by what I said. I'm not saying that Gabriella is certainly guilty because I also don't know that for sure but unlike you guys, I can't completely put my trust in somebody that I don't know even when I know that the situation could get me in a lot of trouble. Anyway, it's not like any of you are going to listen to me so I'm not going to bother trying to convince you guys anymore,"
"If you want to support Gabriella, you can go right ahead and do that and I won't say anything to you but if anything happens and the company ends up under fire, I hope you guys remember that I warned you and you had better not try to get me involved should such a thing happen," Corey responded, wearing a nonchalant look on his face.
He already said all that he needed to say and now, he was going to keep his mouth shut and mind his business from now on. He already doesn't have any business with the company and the only reason he even decided to work there in the first place was that he wanted to try out something different and see what it was like to work in a fashion company but seeing how things were going at the moment, he has already made up his mind that he would be leaving very soon and that he would also be avoiding any problems that involved his family.
"I was honestly expecting you guys to fight like this and you all know that I usually don't call for meetings like this very often but I feel like we needed to talk about these things and just speak our minds so that we can move on to something else. Regarding the company and the new collection, Liam and I will oversee everything concerning the design and we are going to try our best to make sure that everything is a success," Tyler said.
"As for you Corey, since you have experience with interior decorations, I think you should be involved with the event planning and you should probably oversee the aspect yourself. Do you think you can do that?" Tyler asked and Corey sighed.
He didn't want to get involved in anything concerning the event in case things don't go as planned but he couldn't possibly refuse to help out because that would only make him seem very childish and irresponsible.
"I can see that you're sharing responsibilities but it doesn't seem like you're going to be asking us to do anything to help you guys out. Do you people not trust us or do you think that there's nothing we can do to help?" Cassidy asked and Jessica immediately turned to face her with a disgusted look on her face.
"I honestly don't understand why you couldn't just speak for yourself without involving me. Did I ever mention anything about wanting to help out? Don't get me, wrong guys, it's not like I'm not in support of you people or that I'm being lazy or anything like that but I have exams to focus on because just in case you forgot, I'm in my first year in college and I need to focus on getting good grades which means that I have no time to focus on helping you guys out right now," Jessie quickly spoke up and Cassidy rolled her eyes.
"You seem to be forgetting you're not the only one in college Jessica and exams don't start in the next two months. Just tell them you don't want to help out instead of lying about having exams to focus on," Cassidy fired back and Jessica scowled at her.
"I appreciate the fact that you want to help Cassidy but I think it's better you both just focus on your studies for now. Regardless of the situation, we need to make sure that this collection is a success and we also need to find a way to get Garrison off our backs so that he can stop troubling us," Tyler said.
"What do you suggest we do?" Liam asked.
"I usually don't suggest things like this and I don't like the fact I'm getting myself involved in this way but since Garrison wants to play dirty by threatening to sell off our shares, I think we should also play dirty by digging up some dirt on either Garrison or Hannah. I think that we should use Hannah instead because Garrison is quite cunning and he wouldn't just have some dirty secret lying around for us to use against him," Tyler replied suggestively.
Corey could not believe his ears because he would have never thought of Tyler to be the kind of person that would even think of digging up dirt on anyone and trying to use such means to get a person off his back. They all considered him to be the reasonable and the gentle brother that never did anything wrong so it took them by surprise that he had suggested something like this.
"Digging up dirt on Hannah has to be the easiest task in the world because Hannah is an idiot and she doesn't know how to cover her tracks," Corey said and Liam sighed.
"I think we should talk about this later because we don't want our younger sisters thinking that we go around digging up dirt on people to threaten them," he said, getting uncomfortable with the topic.
"Oh come on Liam, we're not stupid," Jessica scoffed and Liam patted her head, while she stared her him with an unimpressed look on her face.
