Chapter Five
GABRIELLE.
"She did what?" I ask in a sharp tone, staring at my mom with wide eyes.
"You heard me right sweetie. Your stupid sister had the effrontery to visit Martin's dad and she even had the audacity to threaten him like the fool she is," Mom repeated herself and honestly, I'm surprised.
I never would have imagined that Ella would be stupid enough to walk into the lion's den and even go as far as threatening the lion. Even I would not do something so foolish.
"Does that girl have any idea who David Deville is? Didn't she do her research?" I ask rhetorically, shaking my head at how terrible the consequences of her actions would be.
Martin's dad is the complete opposite of Martin himself. While I'd say Martin is a big idiot who has no ambition and no sense of reasoning, his father would be the total opposite of that. Mr Deville is quite notorious in the business world and everyone knows just how brutal he can be. He's super rich and powerful and he's also very ambitious.
Mom and I had found out that he's trying to bury the case with Martin and pin it on Gabriella since he didn't want to attract too much attention to his son and since he happened to be old friends with mom, she decided to pay him a visit.
"Hold on mom, how did Ella react when she saw you there with him?" I asked.
"You can already just guess how dramatic she got. She didn't stop yelling and talking about how disappointed or whatever she was in me. That child!" she scoffed and I could already imagine how she reacted.
"Did Deville say something?" I asked.
"Well, he didn't really say much. We only discussed why he was trying to put your sister in jail and when he asked if I came over to ask him to do otherwise, I said no and he seemed surprised," she replies.
"Does he have a specific reason for trying to keep Ella in jail?" I asked.
"According to him, he says he resents her for sticking with Martin after he threw him out for being gay. He feels if he had been alone, he would have come to his senses earlier and he would have come back home and dropped the whole phase. He blames her for encouraging a sin and he wants to lock her up to pay her back and to also avoid anyone from ever finding out that his son is gay," she explained and I scoffed.
"I don't get why they all think Martin is actually gay. I mean, the guy might like men but trust me, he likes women just as much," I tell her, earning a confused frown.
"Wait, what are you talking about? What do you mean he likes women?" she asks.
"It's exactly how it sounds mom. Martin isn't exactly gay, at least not to my knowledge. When I thought of it, I realised that no one has actually ever seen him with a man before, not even that dumb Gabriella who follows him around. So back when I was obsessed with getting him away from Ella, I looked into him and followed him around for a bit and that was when I found out that he wasn't gay. Saw him getting together with a few girls and I'm pretty sure he had a threesome that night," I explained.
"Well, isn't that interesting? This doesn't mean he isn't gay though but it's still pretty interesting and it baffles me how Ella doesn't even know this. Is she really that clueless?" Mom said and I chuckled.
"You haven't even heard the full story yet mom. Not only is Martin not gay like he claims, but he's also very much in love with my stupid sister," I added and her jaw drops.
"He's in love? With Gabriella? How in the world are you so sure about this?" she asked, obviously still in disbelief.
"When I realised that he was gay, I started to see the way he looked at her in a different light. No sane man who's into women would stare at his supposed 'friend' the way Martin stares Gabriella. I tried so hard to get him away from her but it's like there's this glue that just sticks him to her side permanently and I got to realise that his feelings for her were the glue that kept him by her side all these years. He's been in love with her from the very beginning," I explained to her and the look in her eyes switches from amusement to worry.
"If you're correct then this isn't good for us my dear," she said and I furrowed my brows confused.
"What do you mean? How does his issue have anything to do with us?" I asked.
"Martin can regain his memories anytime soon and if he's that deeply in love with Gabriella, then we need to make sure she stays out of his sight till she's finally declared guilty in court," she explained and I'm even more confused.
"What does anything have to do with anything? I mean, what exactly can meeting him do for any of them?" I asked to understand what she meant.
"Oh come on Elle, think about it. If your sister and Martin meet, she'll definitely try to trigger his memories in order to save herself and if there's one thing about amnesia, it's that only the memories are gone but the deep rooted feelings still remain. Only Gabriella has the ability to trigger Martin's emotions and if that happens, he'll slowly start to get his memory back and that won't be good for us," she explained and I understood where she was coming from but is she really able to trigger his memories?
"I get what you're saying mom, I really do but will her presence really help trigger his memories? Also, I doubt Martin's dad will let her go anywhere near him especially after the stunt she pulled earlier, so I don't think we should worry about them meeting up. From what I know, she has been restricted from going anywhere near him and if she does, it will only worsen her case," I reminded her but she still looks unsettled.
"I don't know Gabrielle, I really don't know but I'm just hoping it's as you say it is cause we can't have Martin regaining his memory anytime soon. He knows we're the ones who tried to kill him and he also knows about the original will your father left behind. He's like a breathing time bomb and that isn't good for us," he voiced out and I hissed.
"If you had just killed him, we wouldn't be worrying about a breathing time bomb. I'm still thinking of ways to get rid of him so it appears natural and trust me mom, once I figure it out, I'm taking that bastard out immediately. I can't be having sleepless nights over someone like him," I informed her in advance so she doesn't act surprised when she finds out he suddenly died of a heart attack.
"We still need him alive to tell us where the original will is," she reminds me.
"Mom, that isn't important anymore. What good will that stupid will do when he's dead? I'm pretty sure Gabriella doesn't even know it exists and if we kill him, the will becomes unimportant and Ella will never know that anything belongs to her, in fact, she'll be rotting away in jail for Martin's death and I'll be the permanent owner of Elite fashion. Isn't that just perfect?" I replied, explaining my very reasonable and sensible plan, earning an eye roll from mom.
"Just don't forget what Reeds told us. Martin left a supposed second letter for Gabriella in his will and we both know what that letter is. Gabriella may be the biggest idiot in the world but she's definitely starting to scare me a little. She has never been the courageous type but I saw a pretty different side of her earlier today and if she keeps going this way, her curiosity may be ticked and she may try to find out where and what this second letter is about," she replied and honestly, I was getting tired of her.
"So, what do you suggest we do mom?" I asked boredly.
"I'm thinking maybe it's best we get into his apartment first and try to find any clue that could lead us to where this second letter is. We could ask the police to secretly investigate any possible location where Martin could have possibly kept the will since we have them on our side," she replied suggestively.
"So what if we don't get anything? Besides, this doesn't mean we can't get rid of Martin. Keeping him alive is doing us absolutely no good," I said to her and she sighed.
"Okay Elle, do whatever you want with him but we still need to make sure we find the will Martin has, understood?" she said and I nodded in understanding.
"Sure thing mom, I'll let the cops know what to do and I'll get the guys to prepare an injection to get rid of Martin for good," I reply to her, immediately getting up and going up to my room to get things moving. Martin really needs to disappear from my life for good this time.
