Chapter 110
Dalia looked at their entwined hands before shifting her gaze to her mother's face. "So when are you going to tell me that you're pregnant?" She heard her mother asked. She gaped at her mother before taking her eyed off as she tried to free her hand. "Mama, I never said I was pregnant. He told you that I was pregnant?" She said hurriedly with a blush.
Her mother chuckled softly as she shook her head. "How old do you think I am, missy? I know you're pregnant right before you went to the hospital for check up. Plus, hiding the result under your pillow wasn't a smart move." Her mother raised her brows teasingly which made dalia to blush again.
"Now, I want to ask for a favour which I am hoping you wouldn't say no." dalia nodded her head briskly, "how can I say no to you, mama? Just mention it, your wish is my command." Amina chuckled softly, "at least wait and hear what I have to say. What if I tell you to jump into blazing fire?" She asked teasingly. "Mama, I know you'd never ask for something beyond my capacity."
"I'm glad you know that. Now, I have heard all that happened between you and muhsin. And I won't judge you for coming home but please, not only for my sake but for the sake of your child, go back to your husband's house. At least I'll be at ease even after I die."
"But.... you heard what he did to me, how he treated me and yet you want me to go back?" She lamented. If she had known that was what her mother would ask, she wouldn't have made her a promise. "I know, dalia, I know. But, for him to come see you every single day is enough to tell you that he has learnt his lesson. For him to go meet his father in law to come beg you after what has happened between him and the man's daughter is enough to show you that he has changed. I have spoken to him myself moments ago and I have realised that he has really regretted what he did to you."
When dalia didn't respond, her mother let's go of her hand and placed it on dalia's shoulder. "I won't force you to do what you don't intend to, don't forget that. But you should sit and think this through. If you want to be a divorcee at the age of 20 then fine, but you should know this; if your father was still alive, he would never agree to this!" Amina laid down and turned her back on dalia. Even though her tears blurred her vision, she still managed to see that her mother was a little disappointed with her.
She sluggishly got to her feet from the chair and covered her mother with a soft blanket. She sauntered into the bathroom and washed her face before leaving the room. She went back to the waiting room. The moment he saw her walking towards him, he got to his feet, approaching her. "How's she doing?" He asked. His eyes filled with worry and guilt as he looked at her intently.
Dalia nodded. "She's fine. We need to talk, right now." He stared at her without blinking for a short moment before nodding his head. He guide her out of the hospital to the parking lot, where he parked his car.
She joined him in the car and settled down. He stared at her, waiting patiently for her to speak up. Despite the fact that he was petrified, he never let it display on his face. He watched as she took deep breaths before she started speaking meticulously. "Why did you think I would abort our baby? I mean, how could you just accuse me of doing such without hearing my side of the story? You knew how much I love you and how much I want nothing for you but the very best. You knew how much I trusted you with my heart, with my soul yet you decided to shatter my heart into pieces. Why did you do that to me? Why?" She questioned notwithstanding that she wanted to cry.
Words left him. He stared into her bright hazelnut eyes burning with anger, and his heart fell silent. "Answer me! If you want me back then we need to talk things through! I can't be the only one talking here!" She roared. But he couldn't will his lips to move. As if stuck underwater, everything was slow and warbled as she pointed a shaky finger in his face. "Do you have nothing to say? I have poured my heart out to you, now tell me what you're thinking!" She demanded. But his mind was blank and his eyes wide as he stared at her in horror. Her eyes desperately searched his.... waiting. He had to say something! He searched his mind for something reasonable to say, but to his surprise his heart answered for him, "I love you, Dalia."
She stared into his eyes for a long time before stretching her hand to open the door but he beat her to it by locking the door. "Please don't go.At least let me apologize. I was so selfish and I was a coward, a jerk for treating you that way. And I know that there is no forgiveness for the kind of mistake I did. But if you can forget my mistake and give me another chance, I will make everything as good as new. I'd start everything all over again and make you happy.... Just please.... Forgive me." He clasped their hands together, staring at her as he waited for her reply.
