Chapter 49
On the forth week of investing, everything was going much more than he expected. His business was growing much more than before in just few weeks. He was over the moon about the progress he was making. He continued investing as he move ahead with opening up the one branch he had left. The people he hired to investigate on the frauds weren't making progress in locating them but they assured him to arrest the people as it takes time to locate them.
He rise from his office chair as he claimed his phones from the desk and car keys. He stepped out of the office and entered the elevator. He typed away from his phone as the elevator stopped so smoothly that the change was hardly noticeable. He nodded his head here and there to acknowledge their greetings while he headed out of the building.
A short time later, he was already in his father's compound walking towards the entrance. He knew his father just got back from a business trip. Funny thing, he hardly sees his father ever since he got married, reason, he doesn't live with them anymore.
He entered the living room. Surprisingly, he met daddy together with his father in the living room conversing. They looked up as they answered his greetings. "I wanted to call you," his father spoke first after they have exchanged pleasantries. "What were you telling me the other day about your company?" He inquired looking at muhsin who was comfortably sitting on the soft carpet alluringly lain in the huge living room.
"Oh baba, it's nothing. I just had a little problem but everything is going better than before, Alhamdulillah." His father smiled and nodded. "Masha Allah. Please send your manager tomorrow morning, I have something for you." He nodded his head before he thanked his father. They continued to converse for a while before daddy received a call. "Are going anywhere from here?" His father in law asked. Muhsin looked up and shook his head. "I'm going home from here. Do you need anything daddy?" He asked him. "Yes please, the driver took hajiya to the hospital to check up on her sick sister but they aren't done yet and he just called me now and to remind me Dalia is finishing her lectures soon. Can you go pick her up and take her home please?" Muhsin smiled and nodded his head. "That won't be a problem daddy. I will be on my way now." He stood up from the carpet and bade them farewell before he left.
He check his wristwatch. It was almost five in the evening. He walked to his car and hopped in before he left the house. He stopped by a place before he headed to the school.
She sauntered into her room and stripped off her clothes before she sashayed into the bathroom and had a warm, relaxing shower. She slipped into something comfy before she prayed Maghrib. She sat there and did her azkhar till it was Isha prayer time.
After she went to daddy's living room and had a little conversation with him about school or if she needed anything, like they did most of the times, she went back to her room. She ran and jump onto her bed, sighing happily as she sink Into the mattress. She never knew how tired she was till her aching body came in contact with the soft mattress.
She looked at the wall clock, it was past 9pm. She closed her eyes and sighed. She felt as though energy was being constantly drained out of her. As though she was leaking electricity. And as her consciousness ebbed, her mind went into a free fall, swirling with the beautiful chaos of a new dream.
From nowhere came the sound and vibration of a phone, so authentic that Dalia scanned the room to see where it was coming from. She turned on the lights and moved around the room. From her bag she heard the ringing tone again. She heaved a sigh when she remembered the new phone Muhsin gave her.
She hissed a little as she opened the bag and searched for the phone. It stopped ringing but started ringing again after barely five seconds. "Muhsin?" She read the name out loud, perplexed. She answered the call and placed the phone on her ear before she went back to her bed and laid down.
"Hello, Dalia." She opened her sleepy eyes. "Salamu Alaikum, good evening," she started with. "Oh, where are my manners, Wa'alaikumus Salam. I hope I'm not disturbing." She exhaled again. "Why are you calling now? It's past eleven in the night." He chuckled softly and shook his head. "I've been working at home for about three hours now and I needed someone to talk to to clear my mind, that's why I called."
"But where's your wife? You have a wife, you can talk to her." He smiled desolately and scratched the back of his head. Amira was the last thing he wanted to remember. Just an hour ago they had a huge swedge about something not worth exchanging words for. "Well she's asleep." He lied. "Wake her up.... I want to get some sleep...." She whined nonstop. He couldn't help but laugh.
"Okay, okay, just tell me about school. How's the lecturers there? Are they nice?" He asked her when he noticed she was getting uncomfortable. "Oh ya Salam, I have an assignment that I have to submit first thing tomorrow morning." She dropped the phone on her bed and rushed to her bag before she fetched the book out. She whined and stumped her feet on the ground. How was she going to do it now? How did she even manage to forget about that kind of assignment when she knows the kind of lecturer they have?
