Chapter 25
The driver dropped her off at home and went back to daddy's office like he was instructed to do so.
Meanwhile, amira paced around her room as she dialled on Karima's number. It was the umpteenth time she was calling her that day but she never picked. At the end she switched off her phone. She wanted to take the risked of going out but whenever she remembered his furious expression, she grew more and more despondent. And she knew he would be back in just few hours.
She hissed as she walked over to her closet and fetched out her veil and car keys before she hurriedly stepped out. She entered her car and started the ignition before zoning out of the house after the gate man has opened the gate for her.
She stepped on the gas as she looked at the rear mirror like someone that committed a suicide. She finally arrived at karima's house, she couldn't even choose how to deal with her for not answering her calls. She swallowed the anger as she walked to the gate and banged on it till the gateman hurriedly opened it to see who dared bang at the door like that. His facial expression changed when his eyes met amira. "Good evening madam. Hajiya is not around, she went out with one man since in the morning and...."
"Shut up," she yelled before hissing. She walked over to her car and entered. She took her phone from the passengers seat before she dialled again but it was switched off. She started the car as her heart pounded against her ribcage.
She was about to leave when she spotted Karima dropping off from someone's car. She heaved a sigh of relief before she stepped out of the car. Karima was about to head in when she saw amira walking over to her.
She smiled, scratching the back of her head. "Amira, hey, I didn't know you were...."
"Just Kindly hand me my jewelries please," she spoke as she stretched out her hand to karima. "Let's head inside first we need to talk." She insisted but amira shook her head. "Please I need to head home before my husband does just remove it now and let me leave," she urged her. Karima hissed slightly before she took off the whole set of gold she was wearing and handed it to the owner. Amira turned away and started walking towards her car.
"I will call you later, I have gists," karima yelled but amira didn't turn or thought of replying. She got into her car and drove away. She looked at the gold and heaved a sigh of relieve. If something had happened to it what would she tell her husband. Not that he would care the fortune it costs but because his mother gave it to her. She knew how he valued his mother and how he takes whatever she gives him seriously.
Her heart did a back flip when she drove into the house same time he was dropping out of his car. He looked at her car and exhaled tiredly. He waited till she parked the car and alight from it. She slowly started walking over to him but he stopped her by raising a hand. "Muhsin... I.."
She daren't move, she daren't even breathe. She was frozen to her spot. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest. Deep heavy breathes sound. His face sent chills down her spine. He moved closer to her as he stared at her hand. "What's that you're holding?"
Her heart did a loud thug. When did she started being afraid of him. Or was she afraid to lose him? Or both. Either way, she would never wish to leave him. "What are you doing with this?" He asked snatching it away from her. "Where are you coming from, Amira?" He asked her, brows furrowed.
He looked around before he grabbed her wrist and dragged her into the house. "When are you going to start listening to me, Amira? When...." He pushed her into the living room as he listened to her mumbles. "Please don't leave me. Don't divorce me, I know I did something wrong but please forgive me." First her nose grew very red at the tip as the tears kept cascading down nonstop.
He stood there looking her in awe. What was she thinking? "Leave you? What do you mean? I.... why would I..." He paused and hissed slightly when her wails grew louder. "Would you just shut up?" He shrieked. She jerked back and yelped while she dropped her knees on the marbled floor. He kept mute, looking at her with the same disappointing look he has been giving her a thousand times before. She felt a sting in her throat. Not that she was remorseful, no. What would she tell her parents if he decides to divorce her at that moment for disobeying him? Her father especially.
"You're not a kid, amira. I won't always sit you down and keep trying to correct you or yell at you. If you like, fix your behaviours and allow us to live in peace and if you don't like, that is your problem but I will warn you again, if I see your feet out of this house without my permission again, you'll face my wrath." With that, he walked away and left her there on her knees.
She didn't rise up till she heard the sound of his door closing. She sighed and scrambled up before wiping her face. She hissed a bit when she realized he has taken the gold with him. She shrugged and walked into the kitchen to warm up her left overs.
