Chapter5:Killer
"That is cheating," Whisp declares, glaring at the Lethal Assassin. Mercy grins, picking up the pile of cash she just won. Of course she cheated, it's Mercy.
The room still smells of the grey and white paint we used to redo the walls for the 4th time after the place was almost shot to smithereens by Lucca Sanati's men in a war we started 5-years-ago when we protected his wife from the sick fuck.
A war that was still going strong since he kidnapped my fucking sister and got his men to rape her while they recorded the entire fucking thing.
He was the reason my sister who was once innocent now chose a fucking gun over flashy shoes. He took that shit from her, and no amount of bloodshed will get that back. It toughened her up, but I never wanted that for my sweet Ky.
Lucca Sanati was a psycho who called himself the King of the outfit. Personally, I considered him a wussy of pussies. I haven't got the chance to inform the asshole of this because I was still yet to meet him.
I even went hunting him down to do just that, but he hasn't played his part with getting caught. Lucky for him I was a patient man, and I had a fuck load of time.
My sister was a survivor and knew I would get her the revenge she wanted. She knew it because she was now with me. My Club had become her club, and she earned her stripes just like the rest of us, proudly.
The clubhouse was doing alright, but it cost a lot of dough to be fine with my sister doing the decorating. A lot of that dough came from my pocket when she decided she couldn't live with the budget the Club gave her.
Kylie wasn't rolling in her daddy's Benjamins since she whacked my half-brother, Vincent, saving me the trouble of doing it. She got cut off from her mother and the government froze all her other accounts.
After a $6 million bail and the other couple of mill spent in lawyer bills, they granted Kylie her freedom only because of Storm, the Kanla Chapter's Vice President who was fucking my sister behind my back.
We had words, Vice President, to Vice President. They weren't words spoken from my mouth, but my knuckles had a fuck lot to say about that.
Worked out for her though, because now she was one of us and I made her my responsibility, distinguishing most of the claim Storm wanted over her. He wanted my sweet Ky since he fuckin' saw her walk her ass to the Jet. She was just 18 then.
Now, her freedom was his doing, and her ass was stuck to him for another 2 years. But once that clock ran its course, I was taking my sister with me and getting our asses on the road. I was the National Vice President of The Satan Sniper's Motorcycle Club and I agreed to them giving me the position because the thought of getting stuck in one place too long sent my body into a fever.
Add in the thought of Storm fucking my sister made me see death. I had no emotion like other brothers, but I seemed to enjoy spoiling for a fight. My logic was fucked up and if I could make sense of any situation where it could end up with someone's face and my fist getting acquainted, then count me in.
Yeah, I wasn't a fucking nice person, but I got shit sorted and my sister knew that my reasoning for not taking out Storm for touching what he shouldn't was fuck all to do with him touching what he shouldn't and everything to do with his father, my President, Ribs.
It was my 2nd day back in Kanla and 1st time in the pool room since it got renovated. I left for a month this time, Kylie who we now called Frost, joining me for the first 4 days when I had to go check out the shit happening in our Denver Chapter. She came back early with Venus, as was one stipulation of her freedom. She couldn't leave Kanla for more than a week, and only if it was with another member.
When she got back, Frost called me to say she wanted to redo the game room. I had to admit; the place looked good.
Brown wooden benches added as a fixture to the wall was a recent addition I approved of. My ass nicely seated on it, enjoying my beer as I watch Mercy bend her round ass encased in a nice pair of light denim pants.
It was her 2nd day back too, as was After and Raven, all of us from National. We spent the days chilling as we waited for the others to arrive.
Beggar and Jade were still gone on club business for River. Snake, our National treasury still on his way from Liston Hills after some fucking shit was going down with the DELROY'S back in my hometown, Liston hill.
Sabastian Delroy was paying the Club a ton of cash that even made my eyebrows rise to find someone for him. Thing is, he wanted Snake, because Snake was from Liston Hills, just like me, and if he asked me, I would have told him to fuck himself as I always did.
River called us this side after an intense meeting with another biker club wanting shelter in Kanla. It was the reason of calling in National and the reason for us stopping by when we were hunting down Lucca Sanati and dealing with other club shit. 5 fucking years, and the man still eluded us. How the fuck he got that right was something I wanted to know.
I knew before we arrived that we were going to be here for a few weeks at least, before we got back on the road. Mercy was happy to be back, going by her sexy grin as she slides my way. But After, who was scowling, as her fingers danced with the sharp blade in between them, wasn't too pleased to be stuck.
I contemplated talking to her, but I decided the best thing to do for now was nothing. Precisely what I have done. I was fucking brilliant at following my own advice and even better at forcing others to follow it too. There was a peg stuck up After's ass. I had my suspicions, but I never said my part until I knew all the details. Something I learned from my father.
"Don't be so serious, it's just a game," Spade says, all smiles, as he walks past the two women sitting on the pool table chuckling to himself.
"Says you who never loses," Whisp gripes as Mercy and Spade both howl with laughter.
He takes a seat next to me on the wall fitted bench as Mercy gets up and joins us, bringing me a cold beer.
"Your brother called in a favor a few minutes ago, Prez is still on the phone with him, sounds like a family problem."
"He shouldn't waste his breath, I don't give favors to pissies." The Stone family was dead to me, since they decided Kylie was dead to them. If there was one thing I lived by, it was loyalty.
The barriers go off and the clubhouse we call our home erupts into chaos. The entire house goes from mellow to awareness in seconds.
I run to the door as Mercy, Spade and the others go for the ammunition.
We always have our guard up since Lucca Sanati, the Outfits crime boss, declared war on our Motorcycle Club. Waiting for him to make a mistake has been our only call of action. The rain pours in vicious doses as we rush out into the night.
Frost pushes from behind me, her distinctive scent unmistakable. We are the first two to head outside, meeting Texas and Raven by the open gate, since they were on guard duty tonight.
I assess the situation; the Honda smashed into our gate, and the airbag holding whoever it is a mystery. The windshield is fucked, the rain making this a lot messier. The car's one light is shining into the yard, preventing me from seeing what or who it is. Raven is the first to rush to the car.
"Help me, she's pregnant," The words spill from Raven's lips and we all rush into action. Texas punctures the airbag and checks the lady as I pull out my phone, dialing the hospital.
"Her pulse is weak, we can't move her. If her spine is fucked from the impact, the baby will die," Texas says as others from the house gather around, ready to help.
I move next to him as Frost and After scream for Venus.
The lady's blonde hair is covering her face, she's unconscious. I make no attempt to do anything besides stand and watch her after ending the call to the local hospital.
My patience is indescribable. It is something I am good at doing. I am not curious of the lady as the other bikers who stand around us are.
Another person would react, panic, like Frost and Venus. But I don't have that emotion. I have no emotion of sympathy, empathy, or the other stuff people are supposed to feel when looking at an unconscious pregnant woman. I once thought I did, when Beggar came into our lives. I got hopeful that I could feel something but when it came down to it; I felt nothing besides a knowing to protect her.
Chad comes rushing to the crowd of bikers, "Venus is at the club tonight. She's not picking up her phone, River is calling Hannah."
The pregnant lady moves, a simple stir, "Stay still sweetheart," Texas says in his thick accent.
"My baby," She murmurs as Frost pushes me to the side in a rush and lifts the lady's hair off her face.
"Sienna." The name and shock echoes through the air as Frost announces to all of us who it is we are dealing with or what.
"Hey Ky, I think my baby is ready to come out, you mind helping me? And I got a present in the trunk for you," Sienna's chirpy voice says, but I can hear the grit in her tone.
I push them aside, "How's the spine?" I ask her, ignoring her unsettled gaze.
"It's good."
I put my hands under her legs and behind her back, and drag her out, using my legs as I lower my body to lift her up. Once she is close to my chest everyone moves out of my way as I walk her toward the house. She is fucking heavy, and the rain doesn't make it a fucking simple task.
River stands by the door waiting for me, "Take her to the lounge, Hannah is 5 minutes away." He moves out of the way just in time as I move to the lounge area to put her on the dark brown lounge suite Kylie made me buy after her fucking fit with the place.
Sienna shivers as her back arches. Mercy comes to her other side and rips off her lower pants as she screams. After and Frost drop to the floor with Mercy.
"I need you Killer, she's ready to pop," Mercy says in a firm but loud voice.
I give orders as my body and mind go into focus. I have done this before, for someone in this very room. I look at After as she drops her eyes. Yes, memories have a way of haunting even the tough ones. Sometimes those memories aren't things they want to remember. We throw everything on the coffee table to the ground.
I focus as I get the guys to help lift her to the long coffee table. I just needed to look at her opening to know she will not handle a natural birth.
Mercy injects her with a hefty dose of morphine straight into the bloodstream as I throw alcohol over the blade handed to me and burn it. I dip the blade in the bowl of water Frost brings, and I cut a line across the stomach as Sienna gets drowsy. My subconscious mind can hear Spade telling the others to leave the room, but I am focused on the task as I tear into her stomach.
Birth is a messy thing I would never choose to do. I cut away the thin membrane around the baby and put my hand inside her body, gripping the infant by its neck and slowly sliding it out of the body.
I turn the kid upside down, shoving a finger in the mouth. The howl fills the air and everybody erupts in happiness. The after birth, liquid and other shit comes out as I hear the sirens. The paramedics are quick as they apply the drips and stitch her up. The lady takes the baby from me, and hands me a scissor to cut the umbilical cord.
She wraps the child in a blanket, still bloody and crying. Everything happens in a quick succession. My hands are covered in blood as I watch them, still as a statue as they take her away. Sienna is back.
The paramedic looks at me with the baby in her arms and smiles, "You did wonderful daddy, he's a strong boy." She grabs her bag up and places the baby in a plastic cot.
I say nothing but stare at him. His body is so tiny, fragile. Easy breakable. A sense of protectiveness shadows me, and I know I would have to protect him from his mother too.
Frost nudges me, "Lets follow them."
I nod, and we rush to the 4x4 outside. Raven and Spade jumping in at the back.
We arrive at the hospital just as they carting Sienna and her boy inside. Raven and Kylie rush off to follow them. I look down at the blood on my hands, realizing I didn't wash them. My phone rings and I slip it out of my pants pockets, checking the caller ID. I frown, seeing River's name flashing.
"What happened now?" I ask as my way of answering.
"We checked the boot and found Natasha Bray inside. She's saying she's FROST'S sister." The name has my mouth tightening. I should have known where Sienna goes, Natasha follows. Why did I presume after all these years Natasha would realize on her own that Sienna was a magnet for problems?
"I'm not surprised. Get her settled, I'll let Frost know."
"Your brother phoned, he…" I put the phone down on his ear.
I head into the hospital, and the smell of sickness clogs my senses. I'm going to have to clean my body and mind after this. The lady at the reception area gives me a look I know all too well, as her hazel eyes drop to my jeans, and up my white t-shirt that's splattered with blood.
"I'm looking for the woman who came in with the paramedics," My eyes don't blink as I stare at her waiting for a response.
"Are you the father?" She almost sounds sad, and since I have no qualms about lying, I give her my fake smile.
"Yes, do you want me to sign in?" Her disappointment shows on her pesky face. She's pretty, with long structured cheekbones, strong curved jawline. Knight considers that an attractive woman.
I consider it flesh and bone. She is bland like most woman are, shallow, and probably a lousy fuck that thinks doggy style, is living on the edge. Not for me.
"Yes, you can sign here." She hands me the electronic board and I sign myself in as Peter Stiles. Hannah was going to have a hissy fit, but when has she not! Since the woman found out she was pregnant, the world around just made her angry.
"What floor is she on?"
"Miss Bray is on the 6th floor, in the private suite, room 202. Dr Stiles will be in shortly. Mr Kerby, our pediatrician is currently with your son. Are you related to Dr Stiles?"
"No," I say as I walk down the lobby and get to the elevator. I don't wait long for the doors to open and press the 6th floor. This is the part where I am supposed to bring her flowers and put on a happy fucking face. Well, that is what I did when my brother, David's ex-wife gave birth to my nephew, Aron.
The boy and I were close. I didn't have to pretend with the kid. He knew I would keep him safe and give my life for his. He was turning 12 this year, and I was going to keep him for the summer, so he could stay out of trouble while his father began his campaign for elections.
My brother's need for power didn't gel well with me, and I wouldn't vote for him. Since his wife cheated on him, he never moved past from that. His head has always been up his ally, and in the process he pulled Aron down with him.
The kid didn't deserve that shit, and I was fucking thrilled when Michael told me David was sending Aron to Liston Hills to stay with my mom.
I wanted nothing to do with my family, but my mother was a trophy compared to David.
The doors open up to the 6th floor, and I see two nurses walk past in their flowery outfits chatting. I head straight for the doors that say Maternity ward and ring the button. It buzzes open and the fact that they don't even come and check who the hell is buzzing pisses me off.
What if I were here to kill someone? Sienna still hasn't told us what shit she dabbled in this time to rock up pregnant. I remember the last time she saw me, her eyes pleading to stay.
She couldn't then, and she can't now. She has to get her kid and get the fuck out of here as soon as possible. I'll give her money and make sure the two of them are safe for Frost's sake.
"Sir, you need to sign in," The nurse says as she hands me another board.
"Reception called ahead," She says when I don't sign in straight away. I take a deep breath and sign the form and ignore her curious gaze.
"Miss Bray is on the 4th door on the right," She directs me. I head to Sienna's room, not looking into the other rooms as I walk past. Kylie and Raven are sitting on the couches inside the room. The room is enormous, and the bed is a queen-size normal bed. Sienna is out cold with drips in her arm and hand. The side lamp is the only light in the room.
"They gave her a mild sedative, she lost a lot of blood," Raven informs me.
"No shit," I respond.
"You know she's going to need our help," Kylie says.
"Tough shit. She's gone as soon as she and her baby are fit to hit the road."
Frost narrows her eyes, "She's gone as soon as she is safe."
"Don't take me on with this little sister, you would lose," I warn Kylie, because with Sienna Bray there is no outcome which ends with her staying.
"She is my family," Kylie says in an exasperated tone I KNOW all too well. Normally, I would cave into my sister's demands, but not when her safety and the clubs are at risk.
"She's dangerous, and you and I both fucking know it. Do you remember what she tried to do?"
"It was 10 years ago, we have all changed," Her voice rises and she makes it sound like my reservations are incredulous.
I slide a hand through my blonde hair, my eyes glinting as my sister stands up, breathing hard. She's getting angry. At least she still feels even if it is mostly anger. Unlike me, I am an unfeeling fucker and in some cases it is a good thing. It helps keep the ones I need to protect alive. Even when they don't like it.
And my little sister will not like it one bit.
"Natasha was in the boot of her car. River is setting her up with a room."
Frost's eyes go wide, "What? What the fuck was she doing in the back? She emailed me last week said she was fine and on her way to Chicago."
"You should get home. Spade, Raven, and I will keep Sienna safe."
Frost smiles, and it isn't a good one, as she plants her ass on the couch, crossing her long legs.
"You can go to Natasha. Raven, Spade and I will keep Sin safe, run along now," She makes a shooing motion.
"I will do nothing to harm Sienna, she's just had a fucking baby," I tell Frost as Raven gets up and goes to the bathroom, not wanting to hear our conversation.
"Like you did nothing 10 years ago? When she was half bleeding to death?"
"She almost killed Diamond's father, knocked you unconscious, and although she says it was a mistake was it, really? Do you know what Sienna has done? The people she has hurt, manipulated? Are you really willing to take that risk, little sister? Because I guarantee you, this will not end well for any of us involved. Lucca is still missing. We are in the middle of a war, with already enough people to protect, we don't need to add to that."
Her eyes drop, and I know the logical reason is at the mention of Lucca. I know the logic, I just don't feel the empathy.
Growing up Frost would spend hours teaching me, helping understand emotions, so when my mother cried and when she hugged me, I could pretend for her benefit I actually gave a fuck. Didn't stop her from leaving us though for months without even a phone call. I didn't care, I really didn't but Frost did. It cut her deep. She cried because she never understood what she did that was so bad. Which was the reason I spent most of my time at the Bray manor.
"It's been almost 6 years, we can't keep looking for a man who is so deep in hiding, he is probably lost himself," Kylie doesn't look at me as she voices out what I knew Beggar was thinking as well. They both wanted to move on with their lives, but Lucca will never let that happen.
"He attacked us less than a year ago. We can't keep fighting, either. We need to find him and end this. This isn't just about you and Beggar any longer, it's bigger than that." It's a harsh truth to tell my sister, but it is a truth.
Lucca Sanati came into our lives when Beggar walked through the club's door, and he became our enemy when he took my sister and turned her into this- a half living woman.
And maybe he wasn't the reason Frost killed Vincent, but he was the reason Vincent became the psychopath he ended being. I can't blame the man for all of it, but he played a leading role. Since then he has attacked our Clubhouse 3 times in 5 years and caused not just one but 7 deaths in the club. He was a coward, and cowards always made a mistake.
"And then what? His death won't change the past, it will never make it all go away. Everyone thinks his death would somehow bring me back and change Beggar, but it won't. This is who I am, Kevin." Frost says, and I hear the note of sadness in her words. She stares at me from across the room and I want to say something that would make it right. I want to have the words to tell her I am okay with who she is, but then it will be a lie. I'm not okay with this version of Kylie.
"Hey, guys, I see I caught you two at the wrong time." Hannah walks in, with her Dr coat in her hand.
I move to help her put it on. Her stomach is enormous. She's only 6 months pregnant, but she looks like she is ready to pop. I knew it was twins, even though she wanted to keep it under wraps. River wasn't capable of keeping things under wraps with the club, it just came out.
"Nah, I was just telling Killer he needs to check on my sister while I stay here with Sin," Frost lies cooly as Spade enters the room with coffee. Raven eventually leaves the bathroom, but I can tell by her serious face something is wrong. She tilts her head, beckoning me outside.
I follow wordlessly as Hannah checks on Sienna.
Raven is short, but her deadly demeanor makes her 3 inches taller. She has the body of a warrior, broad shoulders, hips, round ass, and legs that have climbed many mountain tops in her days working with air force's extraction team. Too bad she preferred the company of a woman.
Her light green eyes are small, but get smaller when she's worried, and the lines around her eyes are the only giveaway that she is in her late 30s.
"River just called. Apparently Natasha is the one with the problem, not Sienna."
"She's lying, Natasha has never done anything dangerous in her life. I find it hard to believe."
"Well, River said she was beaten up pretty badly and her boyfriend and his friends locked her in her room for days. By the time she got out of there they were gone, and left a dead guy in her room. She was going to call the police when the said dead guy's people came to look for him. They beat her up, but luckily security came in time. The men left, intending to find her. She was too embarrassed to call her dad, so she called Sienna."
I take a deep breath. This wasn't good news. Because it meant Sienna was innocent and Natasha is Frost's sister, which meant family, "Fuck."
"Didn't she know Sienna was pregnant? She could have called anyone else," Spade says as he takes a few steps closer to us.
"Don't know, but for all your bitching to Frost, looks like missy over here is in fact an innocent bystander, and a brave one at that to risk the life of her baby and herself for one person."
"Natasha isn't just a person, they are practically sisters."
"There is more, well, one more thing," Raven informs us with a not so amused smile.
"The dead mans people, well they are bikers, The Chainsaw MC."
"I've had a few run-ins with them over the years. They are 1% ers. They not that bad unless you fuck with their own," Spade says as he touches his neck with his index finger.
"Maybe we can set up a meeting and see if we can calm things down with the Prez. I'm sure they want something," I tell them.
"Get River to do it," Spade suggests.
"Nah, get Frost to do the talking. She is good with her words, and well, a man is always more favorable to a woman's wants than a man's needs," Raven interjects.
And she has a point, my sister knows how to get what she wants. It was all those psychology books she's been reading since she was a kid.
"I'll chat with Frost, in the meantime, see if Zero can get more information about these Chainsaws. I'll do my own investigation once we know more. Spade, you stay the night with Sienna. Frost and I need to have a brief chat with Natasha." What I wanted to know was what she was doing with these men in the first place. The entire thing didn't sit well with me. The club didn't need another war on their hands. And if I have to take out the Chainsaws one by one, that was something I could live with.
Hannah walks out of the room, smiling as her brown eyes quirk at me, "I hear you were quite the baby daddy tonight, delivering your son and all." She winks at me and walks away before I say a word.
Not that I was going to say shit. I never cared what people said, their actions however sometimes ended with my knuckles in their faces. But Hannah was River's woman. And I didn't hit all women, just the bad ones who tried to kill me in the past.
I grip the edge on top of the doorway, and my eyes stay on my sister, not looking at the sleeping woman in the bed.
"Does medical cover these rooms?" Raven asks as Spade snorts.
"Fuck no, they only make these places for Mayors, and the high lifers from Liston Hills," Spade says, and my mouth gets tight as Kylie's face goes from mildly amused to dead in a matter of seconds.
"Sorry, Frost," Spade apologizes with a grimace.
I knew she put it on my bill and signed my name, and I didn't give a fuck. I had more money than the two of us could ever want with adding the extra's my sister threw away like dust whenever she splurged or decided to be a fairy godmother and help people.
"Come on, we need to get to Natasha. Spade will stay with Sienna. I'll fill you in on the way."
"Raven, let River know we on our way, gather the club, prospects included."
"Sure thing, VP," Raven says.
The three of us walk out of the ward, Frost winks at the nurse staring at us.
Once we get into the 4x4, I fill Frost on what's going on and she doesn't react, or explode, merely looks out the window. I turn my head a few times to stare at her; I know she is thinking about calling her father, but for many reasons she can't.
What she did, had a major impact on her relationship with Marcus, and although he loves his daughter until her 5 years were up, his hands were tied.
He had to show face to protect her from any fall backs. She killed my father's son, and my dad wanted revenge. The only thing protecting Frost was her link to the club and her separation from her father. TRUTH is, if it ever came down to it, even with my unfeeling soul, I am not sure if I had it in me to kill my father.
Frost knew that, and she also knew that she couldn't do it either. So for now we settled on the no contact rule. But there would come a day where she would have to confront the circumstances of her choices. I knew she missed my brothers, David, Michael and Jace especially. But I think she just missed Liston Hills, and the comfort of home. Frost was never meant for this rough life. She was born to marry a man that spent his days in an office and his evenings with his family. Life doesn't turn out the way predict it, but I always believe we can change our path and make our own life.
"I'll call him if I have to," I tell her, and she nods once in agreement. We park inside the parking lot of the Clubhouse. Frost is the first one to jump out, storming toward the Clubhouse doors. The rain has stopped, but the puddle of water is deep and splashes as I follow her, with Raven in tow.
