CHAPTER 18: You know her?

The others were astonished at how Tina exclaimed. Does she know the victim? She just arrived in the city yesterday and already knows the victim. " You know her?" Isabella asked, wondering if she truly knew the deceased. "I was with her last night. Oh...now I know why I was attacked. She was probably trailed Last night after we parted…" Tina went ahead and explained everything to her team members. They all were surprised. She really went out alone at such an hour in a city where she's not too familiar with? She's got guts. " You did well Tina, but you amaze me how much guts you've got. How can you go out alone at such a time?" Kunle stuttered. They were supposed to be teammates. But everything went absurd and they couldn't go together. He had thought they were going to start the investigation that day. He least expected that she would start with the whole process the day before. " If you were with me, would you have been able to stop me or protect me from being hurt? It's no big deal to me going out at any fucking time" Tina replied with a shrug. " Aren't you afraid that something might happen to you?" Isabella asked, Tina kept giving her surprises. First she made Jordan spellbound when she arrived. Jordan is not often affected with surprise but he did when he saw her. She fought four gunmen at a time and left them severely wounded with bullets and one lying on the hospital bed in a coma. Yet she came out strong with only a fractured arm and wouldn't even take a leave to rest. And now, she went out alone at night to interrogate a suspect. Isn't she afraid of her life, that she might be attacked or something? "Afraid of what, attack or being killed?" Tina chuckled and immediately refrained into a frown. She's not afraid of anything in this life. There's only one thing to be afraid of, she had kept that thought in her heart and afraid to let it be her weakness, she wouldn't give it a chance. "I can't be hurt to the extent of being killed Isabella. If I was to die, I would have gone when my mama died. But now, nothing makes me afraid of death. The one person that is most important to me is dead. I wouldn't mind dying so I can join her…" Tina concluded and her eyes seemed to have become red immediately. There was silence in the office. Jordan turned and looked at her, giving her a side view. She talked like him. She lost her mama and he lost his wife. They both love the people most important to them. The feeling of losing someone so dear is quite understood by him. Others may not know what it's like, but he does. And he hadn't stopped thinking about Rachel. He also wished he could die and go to join her up above. Tina is making him cherish her, being around him. Someone who knows exactly what he had passed through. The silence lingered. Isabella and Kunle exchanged glances. They were having issues with Jordan still lost in his world, only being dutiful. And here is Tina, talking like Jordan. Seems these two would make a great pair as friends. Isabella stood up and went to stand beside Tina, she placed her hands on her shoulders and gave it a soft squeeze. " That's one of those things in this life. But we can't keep living in the past, please don't say that again…" she coaxed. Tina raised her hand and placed it on Isabella's hand. She nodded and smiled through a frowned face. "... Did you find anything then in her apartment?" A certain person was calling over the phone. The gunmen had resorted to their hideout. "Nothing! Nothing that is of any use to us" the boss among the gunmen replied. He is like a failure before their client. "I heard from my source from the police that one of you is apprehended and receiving treatment under intense surveillance. Do something before he spills the beans.." "You don't have to worry about that. We will take care of him.." the call ended and the gangstar squinted. The news of their attack on the female detectives would soon spread like wildfire and they would turn the city upside down to apprehend them. They had silenced the girl and besides her, there is no one else they know related to Pascal Parker. The only one with evidence against them right now is that detective. But she's a no go area. Her strength equals five men. She cannot be tampered with. But now, they couldn't make the boss happy. They buggled her house and couldn't find anything besides Feminine unique belongings. That girl had confessed to telling her everything she knows about Pascal Parker and the one he works with. But her tape was having an empty microchip, her house had nothing to indicate she had any information. After trailing her last night, they should have attacked her immediately. She immediately knew he was talking to her. He thought she was angry at the argument he had with Kunle? " There's nothing to be sorry about. Everything is fine now" Tina replied and looked away. Why does she feel attracted to him each time she looks at him? She's not the type interested in the opposite sex but Jordan is making her have a kind of feeling she can't explain. Kunle also apologised and Tina smiled, she said she's ok, she's not angry or hurt at all. But all the same, she appreciates them. " The first report I have this morning is that Collins Bruno is nowhere to be seen. I had gone with the men in general duty to have him arrested. When we arrived at the address, the door was under lock and the neighbors came out and told us they hadn't seen him since the previous day.
