CHAPTER 33; Rachel is dead!

Tina got in and sank into the sofa. She had a great evening with Jordan but almost soiled it when she sent her regards to Rachel. Jordan's smile suddenly disappeared. He looked gloomy and she wanted to ask him if anything was wrong when he said "good night" and drove off. What happened, was she wrong to say that? Or she didn't say it properly? She was going to rehearse it to Isabella's hearing and asked her if anything was wrong with it. "Welcome" Isabella said, stepping out of her bedroom and taking a seat opposite Tina. She couldn't sleep, she was waiting for her to return. " Thanks Isa" Tina replied and yawned. She's feeling sleepy already or could it be that she's tired? The day was filled with activities and adventure. But the last interrogation she went for, was the best so far since she arrived. " Why aren't you sleeping yet?" Tina required, behaving like a long time friend. She expected Isabella to be sleeping already and she can tell that she hadn't. Her eyes were bright, except for the puffiness, nothing else. Was she awake, waiting for her return? "I was waiting for you," she answered simply. Her guest and colleague had gone out to work, how will she sleep when she's not back? "You shouldn't have stayed awake because of me, I will be fine girl" Tina reprimanded her jokingly and stood up to go into her room when she remembered she was going to ask Isabella a question. "I want to ask if anything was wrong with this statement. When Jordan dropped me off,I told him to extend my greetings to Rachel and that I hope to meet her…" she was not done when she saw Isabella's face pale. It seemed she was drained of blood. She opened her mouth and next covered it with her palm. She stared at her as if she was looking at something frightening. "What?" Tina asked. She had paused her statement when she saw Isabella's sudden Change in looks.Is anything wrong with her? Rather than answer, Isabella stood up and pulled her back to her seat. She stared at Tina eyeball to eyeball. What did she say she did? Ask Jordan to extend her greetings to Rachel and hope to do what, meet her when, where? "What did you say to Jordan?" Jordan was not upset. She didn't know anything about him and Rachel. She probably had thought she was at home waiting for him. But he can't help it when someone talks about Rachel in the present, especially talking as if she was still on this side of existence. She happily said it and that made him wish it was true. He wished he could reach his apartment and meet her waiting to hug him like in the past. Wish, wish, wish. Not all wishes can be brought to reality. No matter how rich one is rich and has affluence. His wishes cannot go beyond being a wish. He shook his head, that's how fate had brought him, giving such an unpleasant experience. He acted in a way that might hurt her. He would call her into his office and apologise to her and at the same time, tell her how and what happened. He turned on his music again, ' my heart will go on' and started listening to it. It consoles him in times like this. Every night in my dreams I see you, I feel you… As he was singing every lyric of the song, his mind would drift back to him and Rachel. Those pleasant memories, their childhood and early love life, how it grew, matured and materialised when they became a couple. He smiled. Pleasant memories sweeten the heart and one would desire that it never ends. Suddenly, his phone started ringing. He saw the caller ID and smiled. " Hello baby…" Jordan said, immediately he answered the phone. "What, is there anything wrong in what I said?" Tina asked, surprised and curious for an answer. "Jordan talks about Rachel a lot...in fact, I should have told you beforehand if I had known that you were still going out tonight for more interrogation…" Isabella blamed herself. "But please, don't say anything about Rachel or call her name before Jordan. No matter what he says about her, Kunle and I never mentioned her name. It hurts him more when someone talks about her. He doesn't want to accept the reality of the truth. He can't bear to. Each time he tries, it becomes something else. He would return to being an introvert and might even shut us all out of his life.." Isabella cautioned. Tina just stared at her while she was talking. Accept what reality? What is Isabella saying and what reality is she implying that Jordan refused to accept? "If I May ask Isa, what reality are you saying Jordan doesn't want to accept?" She asked, she wants to know and must know otherwise none of them will go to bed that night. Isabella sighed audibly and closed her eyes momentarily. She opened them again and looked away from meeting Tina's gaze. Tina tugged her and forced her to look at her. Why is she behaving as if the question she asked was too heavy to be answered. " Tina please, let's talk about something else" Isabella requested. She wants them to change topics and discuss something else. " I said what reality are you talking about?" Tina asked, in a tone that portrays her to be a detective indeed. She was serious and her face was void of any traces of smile. "That.. Rachel is...dead!" Isabella stammered. "...I am fine, baby. How's mum?...no,on my way home. Name it... anything... trust me...ok.. good night my love" Jordan hung up and drove into his Villa. He smiled. Jora wants him to return home soon. She has something to tell him. Why wouldn't she just make her request for heaven's sake? He drove and parked the car at the garage and stepped out. His evening was great, and he feels excited like he hadn't in a long while. His phone started ringing again. He smiled, has Jora decided to make her request now? He answered the phone without checking the caller and was stunned by the voice that came from the other end.
