CHAPTER 38: He is not a criminal yet.

Tina hissed between gritted teeth. How can he refer to the fellow being interrogated as a criminal? " He is not a criminal yet until he is proven to be guilty in the court of law. I don't expect that a detective like you would mistake the word suspect to mean criminal" Tina was blunt. This fellow is not pure. He is hiding something. He was not expecting her to open the door and step out hence, he was caught off guard. " Oh! You are right, detective Jor... I. Mean..ehh Tina.I.. was watching the door in case the suspect might want to overpower you…" Kelvin stammered. " Who asked for your help? Do I look like I can't defend myself? Besides you are not responsible for my safety when I have Jordan and Kunle as my team members" Tina demanded. Kelvin was speechless. This lady is a hard nut to crack. He loves to crack the very hard nuts but he will not allow her to suspect him yet in order not to destroy his career. Tina glared at him and walked away. She remembered what Isabella told her the previous evening, overnight all the rascals who masterminded Rachel's death were poisoned to death in the police station after much effort in apprehending them. She turned and saw Kelvin looking at her with hostility " If anything happens to that suspect, I will hold you responsible" she told him. Kelvin walked briskly away and answered her " Watch your words girl" he didn't know why he used such words rather than simply walking away. Tina walked into the office meant for her team and saw the three of them staring at her coldly. She looked at them from one to the other and sighed. Jordan was furious and the others disapproved of what she did as well. "Boss, punish me however you want but first, that fellow detective Kelvin needed to be watched closely. He is hiding something. I caught him eavesdropping on the interrogation. And I had warned him, if anything happens to the suspect, I would definitely hold him responsible" Tina briefed them. Jordan stood up and stood akimbo. "I ordered two officers to wait at the door. Where were they that Kelvin was eavesdropping on you?" He asked. As if she would know the answer to his question. Tina shook her head and said " well, I didn't see any of the officers you talked about. It was Kelvin who was at the door" Tina replied. Jordan frowned. He almost bumped into that fellow when he stepped out of the interrogation room a few minutes ago. Why was he there? Was he acting as an informant or trying to gather facts and sell out to the enemy? The two instances aren't just coincidences, it means something was going on. Jordan called the officers he stationed at the door to the interrogation room and asked them why they left their duty post. He had ordered them to be there and they left. Who gave them the audacity to do that? They apologised and said detective Kelvin said they should leave. They don't belong to the criminal investigation department. He would watch instead. Jordan said they should leave. When the officers left, he told them his experience a few minutes ago. Now coupled with Tina's suspicion, they have to be wary of that fellow. Jordan said he would investigate him. If he finds anything fishy, he would be jailed. Meanwhile he cautioned Tina, she shouldn't do that with him next time. Tina apologised and sat down at Jordan's permission. "We need to visit the family of the deceased, I mean Kitty Wilson's parents. Collins Bruno told me some things. Where Kitty said she was going, to meet another lover and break up with him. She was with Collins and that was the last time they talked or he saw her. But he told me things I need to clarify and that is in the Wilson's Mansion. "That's ok, I will go with you. But first, tell us what Rebecca disclosed to you yesterday" Jordan asked. Jordan and Tina drive into the vast compound of the Wilson's Mansion. They stepped out and went into the house. Kate Wilson was home but her husband wasn't. She welcomed the detectives and asked them how the investigation was going. They said it was going well and they are almost at the finishing line. Soon everything will be made open for them all to see. Kate Wilson nodded. She can't wait to see the face of the fellow who had caused her grief, being jailed. She wished that the fellow would rot in hell forever. "If you wouldn't mind, we need to visit Kitty's room" Jordan requested. Kate Wilson said there was no problem. She led the way and the two detectives followed. The room was large and beautiful. The Wilson's are indeed wealthy. It's visible from their standard of living. By the bedside table was Kitty's picture. She smiled and looked beautiful. A glance at it and the detectives looked away. Knowing beforehand what she was looking for, she asked that Kate Wilson permit them to check Kitty's wardrobe. Kitty's mother readily agreed. If what would lead to the success of the investigation is in Kitty's room,she doesn't mind turning the entire room upside down. They checked her things and ended up in her jewellery box. Tina brought the box out and opened it before the deceased mother. She looked at her jewelleries one after the other and pretending, took the diamond necklace. It's description was exactly how Collins had told her. She recognized it and asked "Such a beautiful necklace. I wish your daughter was alive to show off with it" "Thank you. She liked the necklace a lot. Maybe I could wear it for her when she's going to be buried" Kate Wilson stated, with teary eyes. Wear it for her daughter when she's going to be buried? Waste. Senselessness. Such an expensive necklace on the neck of a dead woman. Was it capable of making her rise from the dead? Or it determined how her soul would rest in peace? "I think I would go for something like this. Do you by chance know where she bought it from?" Tina asked. Jordan was busy searching for nothing. He and Tina had agreed that he would be searching and she would subtly put the words to Kate Wilson, asking her the question that will make her reveal the one who gifted her daughter the necklace. " No,she didn't buy it. It was a birthday present from her…" They walked out of the Mansion with nothing. Tina took a snapshot of the necklace and said they would come again soon. They were going to get into their car when the security opened the gate for Dare Wilson. When he saw the detectives, he frowned. Tina pretended to be calm, but she was not. Dare stepped out hurriedly and came over to hug his wife. "Are you ok? Why did you step out of bed? You should be resting, that's what the doctor said.." showing concern. "Hello Chief Dare" Jordan showed courtesy. But the latter turned sharply and glared at him. "Do you want my wife and I to mourn our daughter to our graves before you give us answers? That fellow who killed my daughter is right there in the police custody and you have refused to prosecute him. How much did he promise to offer you to delay the prosecution or get things twisted.." Dare Wilson was yelling. "What, the killer is found already?" Kate Wilson asked in a haste.
