CHAPTER 19: From your sneakers?

"Yes boss" Isabella nodded and stepped out of the office. She was going to inform the general duty detectives when Jordan called her back. " Because of the peculiarity of this investigation, I will be shuttling between working with you guys and being with Tina. So, don't hesitate to call me if you are hooked. I will be available for you guys any time and any day" Jordan added and Isabella smiled, that's it. Working with Jordan is just like being an escort. He does the work and only gives you orders that you'll only have to follow. "We'll be glad to have you" Kunle chimed. Jordan smiled and Tina glanced at him as he smiled. He looked more handsome when he smiled. His lips are alluring and staring at him could make one feel wet in her panties. Tina chuckled softly. Why is she thinking dirty? She shouldn't be having such thoughts. She swallowed a lump of saliva and glanced at him again and their eyes locked. She looked away almost immediately. He mustn't know she admires him. They were partners on duty and nothing more. Besides, men and relationships meant nothing to her. She is not fascinated by it. They were all surprised when they saw her dug two fingers into her sneaker and brought out a microchip. " From your sneakers?" Kunle asked spellbound. " Would you have preferred I left it in the tape those bandits took away?" She asked, with a smirk. " Oh!" Isabella and Kunle exclaimed simultaneously. They were impressed. She had hidden the microchip in her sneaker. That way, even if they get away with the tape, it would be empty. Without waiting for any other comments, Jordan took the microchip from her and inserted it into a tape and it played. Lulu's voice through. In addition to what Tina said, there was a description of Pascal's boss from his back view. Lulu had Insisted that she doesn't know what his face looks like. Jordan squinted. That description fits into someone he knows. But he isn't going to just conclude that way. They needed to investigate more and come to a reasonable conclusion before they could proceed to arrest. "Thank you for your hard work detective Tina, we got this because you were prudent. Thanks once again. The autopsy result for both of the victims will be out latest tomorrow, we would know which pointer we can get from there. We are only able to figure out from this statement that Pascal Parker earned his living from an indecent way. Why would he choose to be a thug and leave no trace to his family or background? I stand to be corrected though, but it can only be explained that he is living a shaddy life. People who do such things, who live the life of thuggery, gangsterism and banditry often end up terribly, they die like chickens.." Jordan reasoned with his team members. Isabella excused herself and messages were sent through a walkie-talkie. As quickly as it takes to brew a cup of coffee, Collins Bruno's picture was circulated. He was on the run when he received a private message that he is on a wanted list. He sighed audibly and almost sobbed. What has he gotten himself into? Should he surrender to the police or keep running? If he was caught, his punishment was going to be more severe than if he had willingly surrendered himself. He had fled with the hope that before he would be invited for interrogation,he would have flown out of the country. But how will he escape? The border is blocked, searching for him, the airport was a different story. How can he get into the aeroplane without being caught? This has gotten more complicated than he had thought. There appeared to be no way of escape for him. His pictures are already flying everywhere on the internet. Should he surrender or keep going? No he won't surrender, never will he give up. It is better to die fighting than be destroyed like a coward. He would keep running, luck might favor him and he would cross over before the detectives would catch up with him. He wore his disguise and kept going. He must escape, he just has to escape from being caught. He hadn't gone a few more miles when there was a checkpoint. Everyone was asked to step down and Collins cursed those officers from under his breath. Who said they all needed to step down before they could check? This is a civilised world, why should they bother them before doing their work as supposed? Everyone alighted except Collins. He remained in the car and was looking out of the window. He tried to appear absent minded but the act he put up betrayed him. The Detectives became suspicious. There were two in the taxi and now, he was alone in the car with his face covered with a dark shade and his hair appeared to be a wig. He was ordered to step down. He groggily stepped down and sneezed, covering his face with a handkerchief. The officers stared at him and suddenly one of them walked closer to him and examined him. The other passenger and the taxi driver squinted. What is happening, why are these officers stopping them while more cars are being passed after being checked. The detective who stared at Collins Bruno with interest, compared the face on the picture with the one before him. He ordered that Collins remove his shade. As soon as the detective asked that, the latter knew the game was up. He couldn't escape from being caught, so he started running. Two officers made a chase. When they saw that Collins was faster, one of them brought out his gun and aimed at his leg. "Boom!!"
