Chapter 163: The Appearance of Warriors
The moon hung high in the night sky, shining silver light in the silent forest. Alpha Luce sat on a large, thin rock, his sharp eyes scanning the tall trees around him. The fire burning before his eyes could not warm the cold pain in his chest. His mind drifted far away, lost in memories of the woman who had changed his life forever - Reika.
He slowly raised himself up, watching the air escape from his mouth like mist. After he rescued her, and after they got married, his life was never the same. He brought light into her world, filled the void inside her, and taught her what true strength was. He had fought in many battles and led his team to victory, but none of them could compare to the fierce struggle he felt within himself right now - the desire to see her again.
He tied his hands.
"I should have protected you better," he muttered to himself. "I'll be there when you need me."
The last time he saw her, she was too weak to control herself. The coma had swallowed him up completely, leaving him struggling alone in the darkness. He missed her very much.
His thoughts were interrupted by a slight rustling behind him. The little girl Daisy in the bag walked over with cautious steps, her petite body wrapped in a thick coat to resist the cold. "Alpha," he said, his voice hesitant but curious.
Leus turned around slowly and smiled faintly. "Daisy, don't you want to rest?"
He nodded and knelt down beside her, hugging her knees. I can't sleep. Victor and Alfonso were talking about the battles you've been through, and I just thought... I want to hear your story.
Luce smiled and shook his head. "They never stop telling stories, do they?"
"You're here!" Daisy smiled. "But they always argue about which battle was the greatest. Alfonso said it was the Battle of the Red Moon, but Victor swore it was the Siege of Dongshan. Which battle do you think is the greatest?"
Luce leaned back and looked up at the stars as he thought. "Both are important. But if I had to choose... the battle against the Shadow Claws was one of the hardest.
Daisy opened her eyes. "A country full of shadow cancer? Aren't they the ones who perform magic?
Luce nodded. "They are so ruthless." They slaughtered entire villages, poisoned the land, and resurrected the dead. "Their leader Malgorn is one of the most dangerous enemies I have ever faced."
"Based on?" Daisy walked closer and asked curiously.
Lleus smiled excitedly. "We are few in number. Their army is larger, more powerful, and has the advantage of dark magic. But I had something they didn't—an army of my own.
Daisy called. "But you don't have enough soldiers!" "How did you fight them?" "
Lurs' eyes darkened with memory. "I did something... few dare to do. "I freed the soul of the corrupted kidney. "
Daisy sighed. "You...resurrect the dead?"
Leus shook his head nervously. "Not like Malgorn. I did not break their spirits, nor did I force them. I called upon the ancient spirits of our ancestors, the warriors who died defending our lands. They answered my call."
Daisy's eyes sparkled with surprise. "What happened next?"
Laius' voice was low and he looked away. "When the war begins, it is brutal." Blood soaked the land, and their dark magics filled the air with poison. But as I cried under the full moon, the wind started to blow. The ghosts of our fallen martyrs, their cries shook the sky. They fought alongside us and brought down Malgorn's army by storm. "The enemy's magic is powerful, but nothing can withstand the wrath of the ancestors."
Daisy was shaking all over, not sure if it was because of fear or excitement, and Luce was speechless. "Did you...win?"
He shook his head. "Yes. But there is a price to pay. The soul does not last forever." When their goal is complete, they return to the afterlife. After the war, I stood among the ruins and watched them die of exhaustion. "They gave us the victory, but we have to respect their sacrifice."
Daisy was silent for a moment, then whispered, "Are you going to do that again?"
Luce sighed, his eyes turning serious. "If necessary. Ariadne will summon creatures from the underworld." He was fighting forces he didn't understand. "If we have any chance of resistance, we need to use every possible means."
He looked at Daisy, his voice soft but firm. "But I hope it doesn't come to this. War has nothing to do with dignity. War is cruel." "He takes more from you than he gives."
Daisy bowed her head. "I understand, Alpha."
Luce placed a hand on his shoulder. "All right. You're still young, Daisy. I don't want you to see the horrors of war." But if the time comes, we must be ready.
He shook his head, his eyes full of determination. "Let's go find Reika. We need her, and you need her too."
Lleus heart ached whenever his wife's name was mentioned. He missed her every day since he woke up. He dreamed of her and whispered to her how much he missed her and loved her. He's spent enough time preparing words to tell her. He swore to himself he will make all those who have made his life and his family's life amess, he promised to make them all pay dearly with their lives
"We'll leave tomorrow morning," he said, standing. "Victor and Alfonso will be back soon. We need to go out to find Rika quickly, before it will be too late."
Daisy cheered. "I'll be fine!"
As Lleus walked toward the camp, he returned to the fire, his mind wandering. "Rika," he whispered into the night air, "I'm coming to see you."
No matter what he did, no matter what battle he faced, he would find his way back to her
