37. We Both Will Against The World
"The operation has been successfully performed, Mr. Diego. After this, the patient will undergo a recovery process."
Upon hearing the words of the nurse, who was handling the bullet removal operation in Fabian's hand, Diego breathed a sigh of relief. His body seemed to relax to the point of bending down to hold his knees.
Diego paused to neutralize his heart, which had been in a state of turmoil. After a few seconds, his body straightened up and gave a smile to the nurse in front of him.
Diego nodded his head. "Thank you, I appreciate your efforts. Can I accompany the patient?"
The nurse just smiled back at him. "Yes, the patient can be visited, but the patient is not conscious yet. When the patient regains consciousness, please call the doctor to recheck his condition."
"Yes, nurse. Thank you again." Diego bowed his head briefly in thanks.
"Then, I'll leave."
Without answering the nurse's words, Diego simply walked sideways. Letting the nurse out of Fabian's hospitalization room.
After the door closed, the nurse had completely left, instantly the room became quiet. Diego immediately turned his eyes to the figure of Fabian who was sound asleep in the hospital bed. Seeing this scene, Diego immediately felt compassion.
Diego had seen how his car was destroyed. Therefore, Diego imagined how the position of being Fabian, let alone Stellina, who suddenly had to experience an attack from the enemy clan.
As Diego imagined the events of the enemy clan attack, his steps moved towards Fabian's bed. Diego only stopped moving beside the bed, watching Fabian with an expression of disbelief.
"Why did you hurt yourself?" Diego asked. "You could have used a weapon against them. How stupid."
Even though Diego was upset and cursing Fabian, there was actually concern in his heart. But Diego didn't want to get too wrapped up in it.
After taking a chair for the patient visitor, Diego dragged the chair to Fabian's bed. Sitting next to him with eyes that didn't stop watching Fabian's condition.
"When are you going to wake up?" Diego asked, slightly joking. "Do you feel at home here? Looks like you're not as strong as I thought."
Not long after Diego's joking words of mockery were uttered, his eyes witnessed Fabian's fingers moving slowly. Diego gasped in surprise and moved his seat forward. He tried to clear his vision of Fabian's fingers, worried that what he was witnessing now was just a mistake.
"Hey, are you awake?" Diego deliberately asked as if Fabian had opened his eyes.
As Diego watched Fabian's condition, gradually the movement of his consciousness became more intense. The sound of Fabian's small moans, very subtle, could be heard after his fingers could actually move.
Witnessing that condition made Diego unable to hold back his smile. Diego waited for Fabian who slowly opened his eyes. There was a split second pause for Fabian to adapt to the light of the room, dazed for a moment, until finally Fabian realized Diego's presence.
Wanting to really confirm Fabian's consciousness, Diego snapped his fingers. Deliberately so that Fabian's sense of hearing could adapt faster.
Fabian flinched slightly as he looked away. "Glare..."
Hearing Fabian's hoarse voice made Diego immediately let out a long breath of relief. Diego leaned his back against the back of the chair limply. Then Diego immediately
"It's true. You're finally awake from your stupor," Diego said between his smiles of relief.
Fabian had fully opened his eyes. But he had yet to speak again. His gaze looked blankly at the ceiling of the room, as if something was suddenly on his mind.
"Why am I here, sir?" Fabian asked.
Before Diego could answer, Fabian's eyes suddenly widened in surprise. His body immediately collapsed after realizing something.
"Oh my, Mr. Diego, where is Miss Stellina! Is she okay?"
Suddenly Diego also stood up in panic and held both of Fabian's shoulders.
"Hey, calm down, Stellina is fine," Diego replied trying to snap Fabian out of his worry.
Fabian was still pushing himself to get off the hospital bed. He had a very worried look on his face.
"Where is Stellina? I need to make sure she's okay!" Fabian said in a passionate tone.
Diego was still trying to hold Fabian's body without hitting his injured hand. However, due to the effects of shock, Fabian was so rebellious that the IV tube in his hand almost came off. As a result, Diego was afraid of Fabian's condition, so he was forced to jerk his body back.
"Fabian!" Diego's voice called out loudly, yelling sternly. "I told you, Stellina is fine. She's in the hospital room next to yours!"
After Diego snapped sternly, Fabian flinched. Gradually, the anxiety on his face seemed to fade. During the pause in silence, Fabian watched Diego as if he really wanted to confirm.
"Is Miss Stellina really okay?" Fabian asked.
Diego nodded his head. "Yes, she did have a mild shock. But the doctor has taken care of it. Let her rest in the side room."
In the end Fabian let out a sigh of relief as his shoulders relaxed. His tension had completely disappeared.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Diego. I was very worried about Miss Stellina." Fabian explained without looking at Diego. His languid gaze was downcast.
Diego looked at Fabian in disgust. "What you should be worried about is yourself, Fabian. Why are you worried about Stellina?"
"She was almost shot. Also, I witnessed her fighting off enemy clansmen who wanted to attack us..."
Diego nodded his head after hearing Fabian's words. Not wanting Fabian to get too wrapped up in his anxiety, Diego lowered both hands low as an instruction to calm down.
"Calm down. Fabian, do you doubt what I'm saying? If Stellina had been hurt because of you, I would have bullied you." Diego deliberately said a slightly harsh sentence. He couldn't see Fabian constantly caught up in worry.
"I already know everything, including about that. Don't think about it too much. Stellina is also getting treatment, but no, her condition is not as bad as yours," Diego continued once again.
After being repeatedly calmed by Diego, Fabian finally stopped saying anything. Fabian sighed heavily and closed his eyes.
"The attack really shocked me," Fabian said. He was breathing heavily as his emotions became unstable. "I had no idea that there was an enemy clan in the area of the cake shop, Mr. Diego."
Diego didn't really blame Fabian for this incident. An enemy clan attack was not something anyone wanted. But Fabian looked very guilty now.
"You feel guilty?" Diego deliberately teased.
Fabian opened his eyes again, then straightened up. He nodded his head briefly, then bowed to Diego.
"Yes, sir. I apologize for neglecting to look after Stellina," Fabian said in a guilty tone.
"Ah, it's you. You got shot protecting Stellina, now you feel like you neglected her?"
After he straightened up, Fabian saw that Diego did not show any anger at all. Instead, Fabian grimaced as he felt even more guilty.
"I'm sorry again, sir," Fabian said once more, bowing.
Diego scowled lazily. After a small chuckle, his hand lifted Fabian's half-bent body. Diego was gradually getting annoyed at Fabian who didn't stop apologizing.
"If you apologize one more time, I'll fire you," Diego threatened.
Only then did Fabian not dare to move. Fabian immediately sat up straight and nodded obediently.
Diego sat back down with a harsh sigh. "Did you want the attack to happen?" he asked gruffly.
"Miss Stellina almost died saving me, Mr. Diego. Therefore, I deeply regret putting her in such a dangerous position," Fabian explained.
"I understand," laughed Diego. "Yes, you should feel guilty, but not constantly apologize."
Fabian was silent. Recalling the events of the past few hours, he winced in horror. How could an enemy clan suddenly appear?
"After all, it was because Stellina chose the bakery area in the enemy clan's territory. She didn't know that the enemy clan was there."
"Please don't blame her, sir. Miss Stellina only wanted to visit a place of old memories," Fabian replied while remaining polite despite his rebuttal.
"Well... Stellina did not intend to put you two in danger," Diego replied reluctantly.
"What matters now is that the enemy clan didn't attack you. You're already safe from them."
