44. Gathering
Today was the gathering of the wives of the Pavnozzi Clan capos.
The crowded atmosphere in the mansion was unavoidable. All the servants were lost in their own busy lives. They were scattered all over the mansion. Without exception. Various types of decorations and event trinkets filled the rooms of the mansion.
Today's important event required Stellina to overhaul every detail in the rooms of the mansion. For some reason, Stellina could not just fix them one by one. Since yesterday, Stellina had even consulted with someone who was an expert in choosing room decoration colors. Only a few things had their colors chosen by the expert, while the rest were chosen by Stellina herself.
Descending the stairs after checking the second floor, Stellina walked over to the dining room that was directly adjacent to the living room. Stellina's arrival sent the servants into a tizzy. They were suddenly nervous after receiving Stellina's watchful gaze.
But on the other hand, Stellina was focused on the large curtains that stretched across the living room. There were four ladders used for the guards and servants to nail the curtains.
Stellina stopped walking a few meters away from the curtains to notice how the room's curtains looked. Placing both hands on her waist, Stellina could not help but smile. The color of the curtains she had chosen had completely satisfied her eyes.
"Have you guys finished installing it yet?!" Stellina's voice was loud enough to be heard echoing in this room.
The two bodyguards who had just come down the stairs hurriedly bowed their bodies. Gave a sign of respect to Stellina, then nodded their heads.
"There, Lady Vellina!" the two guards said simultaneously.
Stellina let out a long sigh of relief. "Alright, good job! If this curtain suddenly comes down in the middle of the event, you'll all be facing me!"
As Stellina moved her index finger one by one to the servants and bodyguards, they all instantly became nervous. Stellina gave a sharp look at the end of her threat, lowered her index finger, and then turned around to leave the curtain side.
Stellina's steps now moved around the living room sofas. With her hands interlocked behind her back, Stellina noticed the flower vases. Whether the vases were small-placed on each table or large-placed in the corner of the room.
"Mrs. Vellina," called the waiter from the side.
Stellina's originally intense gaze on the flowers in the vase turned to the waiter beside her. The two servants bowed to Stellina respectively.
"We have placed the flowers according to the color match with each vase," said one of the maid women.
Stellina straightened up and watched the two servants. She was well aware that the two servants were nervous because of her arrival. Unfortunately, Stellina could not care less about that.
"Is there a misplaced flower color?" asked Stellina.
One of the maid women shook her head. "We can confirm that there are none. Mistress Stellina can check the flowers," she replied in a clumsy tone. Not even daring to look at Stellina.
Stellina shifted her gaze to one of the other vases. Indeed, before this, Stellina had requested that the servant place the flowers according to the color of the flowers and the color of the vase-Stellina had given the order in as much detail as possible. Once the colors of the flowers and the vase were matched, they needed to place the vase according to the background color of the room.
As a result, Stellina could now breathe a sigh of relief because all the colors matched. Stellina quite admired the meticulousness of the servants in this mansion. Although Stellina would not be as angry as Vellina if they misplaced it.
"Alright then. I don't think there's anything missing from your work," Stellina said before turning around.
Stellina realized that when she turned around, the two servants who had spoken to her earlier let out a long breath. Like they were relieved and could breathe in oxygen freely. The sound of their breathing was only low, but Stellina could still hear it clearly.
Stellina gave a very faint smile. She also felt happy that the servants could do their job.
Stellina now walked to the dining table in the living room. Stellina had also chosen the tablecloth that would be used for the banquet.
Compared to the other side of the room, more servants were at the dining table. They went back and forth carrying plates to be set on the dining table. Some of the servants were also arranging the flower decorations on the dining table.
"What's the condition here, huh?" Stellina spoke while reprimanding them all.
Stellina's arrival instantly made several servants simultaneously turn their heads. Everyone was surprised and suddenly nervous. There were servants who seemed to pretend that they had finished arranging the objects on the dining table so that they could leave the dining table.
Stellina wasn't too concerned about that. Her focus was now on the tablecloth and other decorations.
"Mrs. Vellina, we're almost done. There are only a few plates left to arrange," said one of the servants next to Stellina.
Without looking at the servant, Stellina continued to pay attention to the table decorations. Actually, if we were to estimate, the progress of the decorations here might have reached ninety-five percent. However, there were still plates that had not been placed.
So there was still an empty spot that should have been filled for a pile of plates.
"Where are the plates that should be placed there?" Stellina pointed at the empty part of the dining table. It was a bit odd in her vision.
The waiter standing not far from Stellina's point became clumsy. He briefly gasped in surprise, saw that there was still an empty space on the dining table with a grimace, and bowed his head.
"Sorry, Mrs. Vellina. There are still dishes in the kitchen that have not been placed here."
Instantly the other servants looked at the servant who had just answered. Stellina saw that they seemed to be worried at that answer. As a result, the eyes of the other servants seemed to give an implicit reprimand.
Stellina let out a harsh sigh. As the real Vellina, Stellina looked sharply at all the servants there.
"Why aren't you quick to fill in the blank? Quickly bring the rest of the plates that are still in the kitchen!" Stellina ordered. She honestly didn't have the heart to raise her voice like this.
"Yes, Mrs. Stellina!"
Just as Stellina was about to turn around to check another section, her pair of eyes accidentally saw an unpleasant sight. There was a maid woman who looked lethargic and unfocused as she walked from the direction of the kitchen carrying a pile of dishes.
Stellina already felt something was off. She watched for a few seconds, but in the end, the maid's body suddenly swayed forward. As a result, the plates she was carrying were immediately slammed and broken into pieces.
Everyone in the room was shocked, including Stellina. The maid woman who was about to collapse immediately forced her body back upright. She was stunned to see the broken porcelain plates scattered on the floor.
"Oh my... what have I done?" The maid woman spoke softly while covering her mouth, not expecting it. She turned to Stellina. "Lady Vellina, I'm sorry! I'm really not good at my job!"
Stellina remained giddy for a moment. She was actually at a loss as to how to react. As Stellina's figure, she felt her heart ache to see the maid woman immediately kneeling and begging her.
Too bad Stellina was in the position of being Vellina. Stellina was forced to dismiss the compassion in her heart.
"Why did you break those plates?!" Stellina raised her voice, glaring at the maid woman a few steps ahead of her.
Stellina stepped closer to the maid woman, stopping two steps away from where the broken plates were.
"My God, don't you know that these plates are expensive?!" Stellina exclaimed at the maid woman.
The kneeling maid woman raised her face and looked at Stellina with weary eyes. It was obvious that the maid woman was not in good health. I don't know what made her force herself to continue doing her work.
"I'm sorry, ma'am! A-actually... my condition... lately my body has been unwell!" The maid woman said in a stammering voice.
"Please forgive me. I'm willing to accept whatever punishment you'll give, Madam! I also—"
"Ah, never mind!" Stellina cut off the maid woman's words. It was actually because she could not bear to hear her soft voice. "If you can't work, don't push yourself! Now, get up!"
The maid woman seemed hesitant to stand up or not.
"I said, stand up!" ordered Stellina once again.
The maid woman in front of Stellina hurriedly stood up. But her head was bowed because she did not dare to look at Stellina.
"Now you rest! If you can't work, don't trouble the other maids!" Stellina gave the order.
"What, ma'am?" The maid woman sounded incredulous. "I... rest?"
"Do I need to repeat my words?!"
Although she seemed hesitant, the maid woman did not want to argue anymore. Finally she nodded her head in compliance.
"Call a doctor to check on this maid's condition! Everyone else, continue with your work, including cleaning up the broken dishes!" Stellina ordered the other maids sternly.
