42. Someone Mysterious
"Hey Diego, we met here!"
As Diego and Stellina walked hand in hand out of the shop, Benigno suddenly appeared. Diego was confused as to which direction Benigno had come from and repeatedly looked around. But before Diego could react, Benigno's staggering body suddenly lurched forward and almost fell onto Diego.
Suddenly Diego was forced to stop and take Benigno's weight. It was not only Diego who was surprised, but also Stellina who was confused by the man.
"Benigno, oh my... where did you come from?" Diego asked with a groan as his hands straightened Benigno's body.
Benigno looked up at Diego with wide eyes. This made Diego sure that Benigno was really under the influence of alcohol. But Diego didn't know which club Benigno had gone to until they met on this street.
Diego and Stellina were just about to head to the car park to go home. The clock was already striking eight in the evening.
"Diego, I had a great time. I didn't realize you were around," Benigno said. Although he was in a semi-comatose state, Benigno was still able to carry on a conversation.
Diego frowned. "You should just go home now. Why come to me?"
Benigno shook his head, refuting Diego's words.
"Well, I should just go home. But I was wondering why you were here?" Benigno asked. His tone sounded like someone who had just woken up.
Stellina, on the other hand, just watched the interaction between the two men in front of her with confusion. Stellina felt Benigno's figure occasionally stealing glances at her. I don't know what Benigno was thinking that made him smile a very thin lopsided smile as he watched Stellina.
What puzzled Stellina even more was why Diego didn't notice Benigno's gesture?
Stellina wanted to break away from Diego to ask him to go further, but it felt awkward.
"Me? What I do here is not for you to know," Diego replied firmly. His face grimaced repeatedly as Benigno's body was always almost leaning into his. "Now, you better go home. Don't try to—"
"I'm not going home. Wait a minute, don't be in such a hurry," Benigno retorted, cutting Diego off.
When Diego frowned as Benigno patted his left shoulder, Benigno turned to Stellina. This time he didn't steal a glance like before, so Diego noticed the direction of Benigno's gaze had shifted.
"I haven't even said hello to Vellina yet. Why does she look so beautiful tonight?" asked Benigno with a wide smile that looked like a seductive grin.
Stellina, on the other hand, was rather surprised to hear Benigno's words. She couldn't say anything and just looked at Diego worriedly. As if signaling Diego to let Diego reply to Benigno's words.
Recognizing Stellina's code, Diego immediately shifted his body to block Benigno's view. Diego cleared his throat and gave Benigno a piercing stare, so intense that his intimidating aura shone through.
"What do you mean?" Diego asked, sounding irritated. "She just spent some time with me. Sure looks pretty."
"Ah..." Benigno didn't seem to realize that Diego was already wary of him. He nodded his head with a teasing smile. "Actually, I'm not surprised. Your wife is always beautiful. She looks perfect..."
Hearing Benigno's words, Diego somehow felt an irritation in his gut. Diego's hands suddenly clenched into perfect fists. Diego gritted his teeth as he began to feel uncomfortable.
Unfortunately, instead of realizing that Stellina was uncomfortable and Diego gave her a threatening look, Benigno noticed Stellina more openly.
"Hey, Vellina, you shouldn't be Diego's wife," said Benigno, who seemed to have no fear of Diego.
"If I had a partner this beautiful, I wouldn't waste her and I could give her everything. But it doesn't really matter if you don't become my spouse..."
Stellina instantly felt worried about Benigno after those words were spoken. Her eyes darted to Diego, wondering what he would do. Stellina was afraid that Diego would react in an unexpected way.
"After all, even if you enjoy Diego's company, I can also enjoy your beauty now." Benigno casually chuckled at the end of the sentence. He still didn't know if Diego was getting heated.
"What did you just say to her?" Diego's voice was low and emphasized.
Benigno only moved in resignation as Diego pushed one of his shoulders. Benigno laughed once again at Diego's advances while clutching the fabric of his left side shirt.
"Diego, why is your face red like that?" Benigno pointed at Diego's face. "Are you angry? Really?"
Diego hissed as his hands clenched into fists. Diego was still trying to restrain himself from unleashing the passionate urge in his chest at that moment.
So, Diego simply pulled up Benigno's shirt and looked right into Benigno's eyes.
"If your mouth says anything seductive to Vellina, I won't hesitate to rip it off," Diego threatened without any pity.
Stellina immediately winced in panic when she saw that Diego was really angry. Stellina approached Diego and grabbed his left shoulder, gently pulling him away.
"There, Diego, don't indulge your anger," Stellina said, trying to calm Diego down.
After being touched by Stellina's hand, Diego did not immediately comply. Diego still couldn't tear his gaze away from Benigno's mocking look.
"What?" Diego lifted his chin, defiantly. "You underestimate me? You know who I am, Benigno. If I have to kill you-"
"Diego!" Stellina suppressed her voice. Her skin crawled with fear at Diego's threat. "Stop it! Let's go!"
"I can't let this asshole off the hook, Vellina," Diego said without taking his eyes off Benigno.
The more Benigno laughed mockingly - and ducked his head several times - the more Diego felt challenged. Stellina, on the other hand, was already trembling as her heart beat faster. Stellina imagined the terrible things that would happen in Diego's situation.
"Diego, please..."
Stellina knew that Diego would get out of control if left to his own devices.
Stellina also knew that Diego could not stop once he was out of control-in other words, Diego could literally make someone die that very second.
Unfortunately, Stellina didn't want to see that happen tonight. The possibility of Diego beating Benigno up and getting out of control was far scarier than getting a seductive line from Benigno.
"Diego!" Stellina tried to pull Diego's shoulders back harder.
But Diego's strength to hold his position was much stronger.
"It turns out you're really angry, Diego. I just found out that your weakness is your wife," Benigno replied after not stopping giggling.
Diego just watched Benigno as if he was trying to figure out what to do. Benigno didn't care about any of that.
"I'm just trying to be honest that your partner is really pretty. If you can't accept that I'm tempted-"
"Asshole!"
BUG!
Stellina jumped back to get away after Diego suddenly threw a fist at Benigno's face. Stellina was dumbfounded behind her hands that covered her mouth, holding back a shriek of shock.
Stellina's body went limp as Benigno's body was slammed into a foreign car. Diego's intense energy made the veins in her hands form perfectly.
"I told you to stop talking or I'll rip your mouth out, damn it!" Diego snapped at Benigno as he stepped closer.
Stellina was completely helpless, even tongue-tied. Her emotions were already running wild as she watched Diego move closer to Benigno and deliver another powerful blow to Benigno's face.
Stellina found it difficult to scream for help. Even though she was already looking around, looking for anyone who could separate Diego and Benigno.
"What did I do wrong, asshole?" Benigno shouted back at Diego.
With Stellina's heart pumping so fast, her legs were barely holding her upright. Diego delivered three punches to Benigno's face. The blows were so hard that Stellina could hear the sound of Diego's fists.
'Don't fight, stop. Somebody please separate them,' Stellina's mind said. She wanted to say it in her voice. But suddenly her lips wouldn't open. They felt completely locked.
Until finally Stellina, who was overwhelmed by worry and fear, was unsteady, there was someone holding her body. Stellina spontaneously stepped aside in fear to see another woman who looked worried about her.
"Are you okay?" asked the stranger who was helping Stellina.
Right after this stranger appeared, Stellina could hear the clomping of several people. When Stellina turned around, she saw five grown men approaching so they could break up Diego and Benigno.
In a state of shock, Stellina slowly lowered her hands to cover her mouth. Stellina was stunned that Diego could not control himself at that moment. The five adult men repeatedly tried to keep Diego away from Benigno, but Diego was too strong.
This was the sight Stellina hated the most.
"It's okay, you're fine now," said the strange woman behind Stellina who suddenly put her arm around her.
Stellina did not resist anymore. She was really just staring dazedly at the sight of Diego yelling at Benigno.
Why was the creepy side of Diego that was now emerging still unacceptable to Stellina?
