Chapter 30 Confession

Rico was about to fetch Dina at work, earlier than usual. He decided to observe around Dina's workplace. Even though classes had already ended, he wanted to see how Dina trains her basketball team. Rico asked around as to where Dina is and everyone had pointed towards the school gym. He was heading towards the gym and even though it was a little bit far away, he could already hear the loud cheers and yells. 'Ma'am Dina and Sir Carlos, you really look good together! You are also both compatible because you both like basketball!", the kids cheered as if they felt kilig. 'Hey stop it already! Sir Carlos and I are bestfriends. We became friends way back in our college years. There's no malice between our closeness.", Dina replied. Carlos went towards her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. This gesture made the students cheered in excitement. 'Hey, Carlos! Stop it!", Dina laughed as she complained then she removed his arm away. 'Look at them, it would be sad if we will disappoint them?", Carlos smiled naughtily. 'Cut it out already.", Dina laughed as she elbowed Rico on his stomach. 'Dina, you're so cruel!", Carlos also complained but still continued laughing. Everyone was cheering happily inside the gym. 'Ma'am Dina we are so kilig with you and Sir Carlos!", one student cheered happily. "Actually, I liked her long before but she's too numb to feel it.", Carlos laughed. Everyone cheered louder inside the gym. 'Hey stop it, Carlos. You shouldn't give the kids the wrong idea about us. You're too old to be such a tease.", Dina laughed. 'Woooo! KISS! KISS! KISS!", the students chanted. Carlos laughed, he was enjoying the spotlight as Dina's love interest on this stage. 'No! No! I mustn't… the truth is I am already married. I have a husband.", Dina confessed and everyone was surprised even Carlos as she took the kids seriously. 'You've got a husband already, Ma'am?" 'Is he handsome too?" 'Like Sir Carlos?" 'Is he good at playing basketball too?" 'Who is more handsome, Sir Carlos or your husband?", the kids continuously asked. In a blink of an eye, the topic and attention had been diverted to Dina's husband instead of Carlos. 'Of course me… but Ma'am Dina has a bad taste in men.", Carlos joked. Dina laughed. "Stop it. My husband is a lawyer. He doesn't know how to play basketball.", Dina said while still laughing. The kids feel somewhat disappointed. "Awwwww but you and Sir Carlos really look good together…", the kids say while looking disappointed. 'Well… I think I could give Ma'am Dina a friendly kiss on her cheek, right? After all, we're best friends.", Carlos teased. The gym cheered loudly again but someone cleared his throat so loudly too that it made the people inside the gym to look at him. Dina was surprised to see who it was. 'Rico?", Dina said loudly in surprise. 'It's really your husband, Dina.", Carlos said as if confirming what Dina had just said. People around them began whispering. 'Sir Carlos says it's Ma'am Dina's husband." "He looks handsome too." "He looks like a genius. He is wearing glasses. So cool." 'He doesn't look too athletic like Sir Carlos.", the kids had been whispering loud enough for them to hear. 'What are you doing here?", Dina asked curiously. "I'm just visiting my wife. I want to see how she trains her students.", Rico smiled handsomely and everyone in the gym cheered loudly again. 'Sir, are you Ma'am Dina's husband? You look so handsome!", one student yelled from behind. Both Dina and Rico smiled which only made the kids to cheer even louder. 'Sir, do you know how to play basketball?", one student probed curiously. Dina became worried. 'Hey, stop it!", Dina attempted to mediate between the students. 'He challenged me on a one-on-one basketball before but I won and he lost.", Carlos teased while laughing out loud. Dina felt annoyed with Carlos. The kids were cheering loudly as they felt like they are witnessing a love triangle scene in a movie. Rico remains calm. 'Hey! Cut it out Carlos.", Dina scolded Carlos and glared at him. He is like adding fuel to the fire and the three of them are fully aware that Rico doesn't know how to play basketball. What is his intention in telling this? Was he trying to humiliate my husband?, Dina thought annoyingly while still glaring at Carlos. Carlos just shrugged at her and gave her a naughty smile. 'How about we play again now?", Rico simply challenged Carlos. Everyone in the gym yelled and cheered loudly. They were all excited. 'You know what happened last time… and I won't say no for a challenge.", Carlos smiled confidently. Rico smiled back at him while nodding. 'Hey stop it you two! You're acting like kids!", Dina tried to go between Carlos and Rico but it seems like both were not listening to her and were just ignoring her. Dina is worried if Rico will be humiliated again and worst in front of many people this time. Both boys now started to play in the middle of the basketball court. The same rules were applied in their game now just like what they did the last they played. Dina was surprised to see Rico playing so confidently, he was good now and she wondered when did Rico learn to play… and what surprises her most is Carlos seems to be having trouble in outmatching him. Both Rico and Carlos have 4 points each already, only one point to go to know who will win. Everyone is thrilled to know who will win this game. 'You didn't expect this, huh?", Rico talking with Carlos while playing. Carlos didn't answer, he focused his attention on the ball but he couldn't deny to himself that Rico plays well now and he has become too complacent, now look Rico got four points already. 'I just want to tell you… I love Dina. So, back off!", Rico declared fiercely. Carlos was dumbfounded and Rico used this opportunity to make his move. He has finally realized his feelings…Dina, what will happen now? I didn't even confess my feelings for you… am I really too late? If I hadn't just gone abroad… if I just hadn't left you… maybe… maybe…, Carlos thought with full of regrets while dejectedly witnessing how Rico successfully shoots the ball. Dina couldn't believe Rico won, she was so impressed. 'Wow! That was intense!", Dina greeted happily. 'Sir you're so amazing! You're good at playing basketball!", the students cheered at Rico. 'Ma'am Dina, you should give Sir a prize because he won against Sir Carlos.", a student said pertaining to Rico as Sir. Dina and Rico laughed. 'What should I give him then? Hmn?", Dina joked. 'A kiss!", one student yelled and everyone went berserk, cheering loudly at the couple. Dina's eyes widened in surprise. 'Yes Ma'am! Kiss! Kiss!" "KISS! KISS! KISS!", every student in the gym chanted. 'HEY! Cut it out!",Dina chided. 'It seems like your Ma'am Dina doesn't want it. Hehe.", Rico smiled as if going along with the students' flow. Dina widened her eyes at Rico as if she was threatening him. 'Stop it Rico! Don't join them---', Dina whispered closely near Rico's face… too near. Rico stared at Dina, unable to control his feeling, he quickly wrapped his arm around Dina's waist. Everyone shrieked frantically. They were all having butterflies in their stomach seeing Rico's sweet and macho gesture towards Dina. 'Since Ma'am doesn't want to do it… should I do it instead?", Rico softly said as if talking to the students but still staring at Dina. Everyone is so kilig as they continue to chant with "KISS KISS KISS". 'Rico what are you doing? Are you crazy---', Dina stammered when Rico pulled her closer to him. 'Dina, if you just like me… then, I'm in love with you. I love you, Dina!", Rico declared before giving Dina a gentle kiss on her lips. Dina was so surprised and she couldn't believe that Rico had just confessed his feelings to her… and now that he is kissing her. She couldn't believe it. Rico slowly closed his eyes, feeling his wonderful moment with Dina. Dina slowly closed her eyes too, accepting the kiss willingly. Everyone went mad cheering so loudly for the couple. They were so happy and excited… while Carlos was just watching them. He clenched his fist and couldn't stay any longer there. He immediately went out of the gym. After their kiss, Rico slowly opened his eyes just to see that Dina had her eyes closed as if she felt contented with his kiss. He was so happy to see Dina's reaction and he chuckled merrily. Dina heard his chuckled and realized that he was done kissing her. She immediately opened her eyes and wasn't able to look directly at Rico. She covered her lips with her palms as she blushed. She still couldn't believe what had just happened. Rico was amused with Dina's reaction. He looks at her admiringly as she was still in shock of what he just did to her. 'Big bro? Big bro!",one male student shouted from afar. He just got inside the gym and was wondering what's with the commotion. Because Rico was able to recognize the voice, he stopped staring at Dina and turned to the one who is calling him. He knew too well who that student was. 'Melvin. So you're studying here?", Rico acknowledging the young boy. "What are you doing here, big bro?" "I'm fetching my wife.", Rico smiled while gesturing towards Dina. Melvin looked at Dina. 'Ma'am Dina? So you're big bro's wife?!", Melvin exclaimed in surprised. Rico just nodded while smiling due to the confidence. 'So it was you, Ma'am Dina?", Melvin said merrily. 'Me, what?", Dina asked curiously. "Ma'am Dina, it's because big bro had been practicing basketball with me. There's a basketball near our house. We played their for months!", Melvin said. 'So that's how you learn to play, huh? It's from this kid.", Dina teased Rico. Rico just scratched his head as he couldn't deny that Melvin played a big part for him to learn the game. 'Yes, Ma'am it's because he wanted to impress you. He told me like his wife loves playing basketball that's why he also wanted to learn it too.", Melvin said in a jolly tone. It made both Rico and Dina blushed. She couldn't believe Rico would do those things for her. 'There was also a time while we were playing, he suddenly went in panic and told me he was late in fetching you. You should've seen how scared he was.", Melvin teased. Rico messed Melvin's hair in return for exposing him. Dina remembered that time… the only time he was late… it was the time she thought he was busy dating Alice… it was the night she had confessed her feelings for him. Dina was so happy with what she had just found out.
