Chapter 46 Unhappy
"It was you? You did all these horrible things? But why?"
"Ha! You got the nerve to ask me why?!", Rico laughed bitterly.
"You had become different Rico!", Dina answered.
"You had become different too, Dina... look, you've even got a son now.", Rico replied sarcastically.
'And now… are you happy because of these terrible things you've done to us?", Dina asked angrily.
"Happy? No... of course not! I mean… not yet. I am not fully satisfied, it's not enough for the things I had to endure because of what you have done to me—-", Rico was interrupted by the things what he was supposed to say when Dina slapped him. Rico was stunned and just stared shockingly at Dina.
'I am not trying to criticize you or count the horrible things that I had gone through too already because of you but let me remind you, in case you have forgotten, Rico… but you are one of the reasons why my father died. The life that I had lost because he died is not even close enough to equate with that hatred you are feeling right now. And yet, I still chose to forgive you, I still loved you… and I even set you free because I was really in love with you and I wanted you to be happy with the woman you truly loved. How was I able to do all that… and you couldn't? How are you able to do these horrible things to me now despite knowing what you had already done to me and my dad in the past?", Dina said angrily despite trying to control her emotions.
Dina's words hit Rico straight in his heart, he had gotten soft and he wanted to cry and just hug Dina. He wanted to rant and wanted to tell Dina how hard it is for him. He couldn't explain this too much emotion he is feeling right now.
"Dina!", Carlos interrupted. When Rico heard Carlos, all his hatred suddenly came back again.
"You should go now, take Dino. He should see all these things that are happening right now. Take him and I'll talk with Rico.", Carlos added.
"Talk? What makes you think I am in a good condition to have a chat with you?!", Rico hissed.
"We need to talk, Rico! I need to explain something—-", Carlos tried to convince Rico but the latter angrily pushed him. This made Carlos slightly lose his balance, enough for him to be pushed backward.
'Are you dumb? Can't you see I'm not in the mood to talk with anyone of you!?", Rico yelled. Carlos and Dina fell silent.
"I'll sue both of you. See you at court.", Rico finally said before leaving them. Everyone fell silent and still as if they were nailed to their positions.
'Carlos, buddy… we know you're deeply in love with Dina but this is just wrong!", one of their friends broke the silence.
"Carlos, I respected you and I am also proud of you but... how could you do this? Are you crazy?", another friend added.
"Dina, you shouldn't have gotten married if, in the end, you would still choose Carlos---'
"Dina has nothing to do about our current situation, and yes, I am crazy because I am in love with her first and I was too late to realize those feelings… I am upset and couldn't just give up because I was just. this. LATE!", Carlos seemed to control his mixed emotions while gesturing his thumb and finger of a small gap while putting emphasis on the word LATE. Everybody fell silent again.
'But this is not what you are thinking, Dina is innocent. This kind of situation, I just really find it hard to explain... but... we're sorry for what happened tonight.", Carlos humbly added.
"Dina let's go. Come, Dino. Please excuse us.", Carlos finally said before they left the scene.

"Can't we just go back to Canada?", Dina opened the topic when they arrived home.
"Dina, we have talked about this already right?", Carlos replied.
"Yes Dad, I want to go back to our real home. I don't like it here! People are bad!", Dino cried.
"Dino… Dad has something to tell you and you must listen carefully.", Carlos suddenly became serious. The child nodded at hugged Carlos.
"We can't go back there anymore and you must accept that.", Carlos premised.
"But why!? I don't like it here, I hate it here! That uncle is hurting my Mom and Dad! I don't like him, Dad!", Dino complained.
"Ssshhh... you shouldn't do that, Dino. It's bad, okay?."
"But he is the bad one, Dad.", Dino answered.
"Dino, he is not bad. Actually, he was just angry so you shouldn't dislike him. It's not right, and you ask me why, right?", Carlos asked. The child nodded again and this time, Carlos deeply sighed first before talking again.
"Because that man is your real Dad, Dino.", Carlos felt pain in his heart while saying those words. He closed his eyes as he carried the burden of finally telling the truth to the child.
"CARLOS!", Dina interrupted.
"What are you saying, Carlos?!", Dina was surprised by what Carlos had said.
"Dino has the right to know.", Carlos answered.
"WHY now?! Have you forgotten already? The moment you gave your name to Dino, he already became yours! He has become YOUR son, Carlos!", Dina argued.
"I didn't forget. I know. And Dino will always be my son. But I am not his true father. He has the right to know, Dina."
"He is too young, Carlos!"
"But he will still find the truth sooner or later.", Carlos's words were deep in meaning. Dina couldn't pinpoint what Carlos is talking about, was he talking about himself or about Rico?
"Dad, I am confused. I don't understand what you are saying. Are you saying, you are not my Dad but... you are my Dad, right?", Dino seemed he wants to cry. He is too confused about what Carlos is trying to say.
"I am your Mom's friend. I am really bad, that is why that man is very angry with me. I took you and your Mom away from him... he is your real dad.", Carlos couldn't contain his emotion and started to cry. Dina cried too as she saw Carlos unfolding the truth to her son.
"You are lying. Dad, lying is bad. Mom will spank liars.", Dino answered, still confused.
"I am not your real Dad. I am sorry because I just told the truth now. Don't hate your real Dad, he is just angry because I did something wrong.", Carlos explained with tears in his eyes.
"So you are not my Dad, and you are bad?", Dino cried too. Carlos nodded.
"I am sorry.", Carlos humbly said with tears still falling continuously from his eyes.
'You just don't want me anymore, right dad?", Dino cried as he felt rejected by Carlos. Carlos was heartbroken when he heard Dino's words and made him weep even more. He loves this kid so much like his own.
'NO! No Dino! No! I love you! I do!", Carlos cried loudly and hugged Dino tightly.
"Dad!", Dino cried loudly too and hugged Carlos back.
"I don't believe you are bad because you always treat Mom and me good.", Dino said between his sobs.
"But you have to understand your real Dad's feelings and you must not hate him.", Carlos continues to explain as he caresses the kids to soothe him from crying. Dino just nodded. They continue to hug each other for few minutes.
"But... even if you are not my real Dad. Can I still call you Dad?", Dino finally broke their silence and from their hug.
"Of course you can! I love you like any real Dad could love their child.", Carlos smiled as his tears began to fall from his eyes again. He hugged the child again.
"And I love you too, Dad... I love you like my real dad.", Dino answered and hugged Carlos again. Carlos wasn't feeling happy in telling Dino the truth but he knew that this is the right thing to do.
