Chapter 042
~~~Sandra~~~
I stepped out onto my balcony, basking in the ethereal glow of the moonlight. The view was breathtaking, but my mind was elsewhere, consumed by the intricacies of Evans' plan. My thoughts swirled with anticipation and trepidation, leaving me torn.
For a few fleeting moments, I wavered, unsure if I was ready to take the leap. But then, a spark of curiosity ignited within me, and I felt an overwhelming urge to watch the events unfold.
As I stood there, lost in thought, Evans' deep voice pierced the night air, his words laced with concern. "Are you sure we can trust this person you're talking about?" he asked, his footsteps echoing behind me.
I turned to face him, my expression unreadable. "No," I replied, my voice firm and resolute.
Evans' eyes widened in surprise, his face a picture of incredulity. "No? No?!" he exclaimed, his voice rising in frustration.
I stood my ground, unwavering. "You want to bring in a complete stranger, someone you just met at your ex's office, and trust them with our plan?" He asked, his tone skeptical.
My face darkened, as my eyes flashing with anger. "You know, I've thought about that, and I think that's the more reason when we succeed with our side of the deal, we discard her, or kill her, whatever."
My words sent a shiver down his spine, but he maintained composure, his expression unyielding. "What?! You want to kill her?" Evans' face twisted in disgust.
"Listen, in case you don't get what's going on here, let me remind you and be crystal clear about this," he spat, his voice venomous. "I'm just here to get my wife back and prove to her that I'm everything and more she ever needs, not with that stupid ex-boyfriend of yours."
Evans' words cut deep, but I refused to back down. "You know, now I see why you and that bitch were quite a match," I sneered, my voice dripping with malice. "You two were both scared morons."
Evans' face turned red with rage, his eyes blazing with fury. "You listen to me, alright?" I growled, freeing myself from his grip on my arm. "I'm here for the exact same reason – to take your bitch of an ex-wife away from my boyfriend's life."
The tension between us was palpable, the air thick with unspoken threats. But I stood my ground, unwavering. "And all I'm saying is, it wouldn't hurt to have one more person with the same interest on our team."
Evans' expression softened, his anger dissipating. "Fine," he said, his voice laced with resignation. "But we aren't killing anyone, because I don't plan on going to jail doing this."
As Evans stormed out, I watched him go, a smirk spreading across my face. "If you turn out to be a threat to me in the future, I won't hesitate to take you out and make sure to put your wife beside you too, Evans," I whispered to myself, a sinister grin twisting my lips.
The next morning, the bright sunlight streaming through my windows woke me up, filling me with a renewed sense of energy and determination. I placed a call to Evans and Ava, summoning them to a meeting at a restaurant to discuss the finer details of our plan.
As I arrived at the restaurant, Evans was already seated, nursing a drink. His eyes met mine, a hint of wariness lingering in their depths. I smiled, a calculated glint in my eye, as I slid into the booth across from him.
As I walked into the restaurant, I flashed Evans a bright smile. "Hey stranger," I said, expecting a warm greeting in return. But instead, he ignored me, shoving his drink into his mouth.
I let out a laugh, trying to brush off the awkwardness. Just then, Ava walked in, and I could feel my demeanor change. I was cold and distant, not even acknowledging her attempt at a greeting.
But Evans surprised me by taking Ava's handshake and giving her a light kiss on her hand. I rolled my eyes, feeling a pang of annoyance.
"Could we just get back to why we're here?" I spat, already tired of the charade.
As we discussed our plans, Ava revealed that she had connections who could help us. But then she dropped a bombshell that made my guilt-ridden heart skip a beat.
"I don't know if this adds anything to what we discussed, but I think you should know... Hailey has given birth," Ava said, her words slicing through me like a knife.
I felt my face flush with shame as I bowed my head, my hands growing sweaty. Memories of my past mistakes came flooding back – the abortion, the pain I had caused Aiden.
A wave of regret washed over me, mixed with a healthy dose of anger and resentment toward Hailey. How could she give Aiden what I had so callously denied him? A glimmer of determination flickered within me. I knew the odds were stacked against me, that winning Aiden back would be an uphill battle now that he had a child with Hailey. But I've never been one to back down from a challenge.
Ava's words echoed in my mind, fueling my resolve. "Their union is fake," she had said. I clung to that hope, letting it propel me forward. Maybe, just maybe, I still had a chance to reclaim Aiden's heart.
With newfound resolve, I steeled myself for the fight ahead. I would stop at nothing to expose the truth behind Aiden and Hailey's relationship, to prove that their love was a sham. And when the dust settled, I would be the one standing by Aiden's side.
As the meeting concluded, I couldn't shake off the feeling of despair that had settled in. I stumbled to the bar, drinking away my sorrows until I was barely coherent.
Luckily, Evans appeared out of nowhere, catching me just as I was about to collapse. He helped me into my car and dropped me off at my bed, As I lay in bed, the alcohol coursing through my veins, I felt a primal urge take over. My body ached for intimacy, for the touch of a man. And as Evans turned to leave, I reached out, my fingers grasping for his arm.
I pulled him into a kiss, our lips crashing together in a frenzy of desire. It was clear that he had fantasized about this moment, about having me in his bed. The air was electric with tension as we devoured each other, our bodies entwined in a passionate dance.
The darkness of the night closed in around us, and for a fleeting moment, our past heartaches were forgotten. We were two exes, united in our desire to reclaim what we had lost, yet finding solace in each other's arms.
As we made love, the intensity of our emotions was palpable. It was a night of unbridled passion, of two souls connecting on a primal level. And as the night wore on, we lost ourselves in the moment, our hearts beating as one.
