Chapter 063
Aiden
I groaned, my head throbbing in agony as I struggled to free myself from the grip of the masculine figure pinning me to the ground. As I glanced up, my vision blurry from the impact, I saw a familiar figure emerging from the shadows. Sandra's smirk twisted her face as she approached us, a gun glinting in her hand.
It was Sandra, she appeared with a smirk on her face, as she walked briskly towards us with a gun in her hands. I could see the hurt I'm Hailey's eyes the minute she saw Sandra but she tried to control herself.
Just then the man with a scar on his face appeared from the darkness with my son in his arms crying. My little boy was scared, it was as if he could already fill the tension that surrounded us as his voice was super loud.
I'd never heard him cry like this since he was born, I looked at him with all the compassion in me as I tried to devise a plan to get him to somewhere safe, far away from that monster who held him. I haven't even given him a name for him yet, due to all the chaos and troubles that came with his birth.
But I did have a name in mind though - Alvaro, that was Spanish for truth speaker. His birth made all the hidden secrets lying beneath the surface come to life. I was about to launch an attack when the next words of the scarred man stopped me.
"Hello Hailey," he began, his voice dripping with malice. "Was this how you planned to separate me from my grandson?" His grin twisted his face, sending a shiver down my spine.
I stared at Hailey, searching for answers. Her eyes mirrored my confusion. Her father was dead, wasn't he? I had told her that myself, months ago. So who was this man, and what did he want? The questions swirled in my mind, but before I could ask any of them, Hailey's whisper stopped me.
"Dad?" she breathed, her voice trembling with shock.
I stared at Hailey, my voice barely above a whisper. "This man is your father?" I felt like I'd been punched in the gut, my mind reeling with the implications.
Hailey's eyes darted between her father and me, her voice trembling. "I don't know, Aiden. He looks like him, but...that scar..." Her words trailed off, uncertainty etched on her face.
The scarred man's eyes gleamed with amusement. "Come on, child. We have a lot to catch up on." He beckoned Hailey closer, his gesture almost paternal.
But Hailey hesitated, her eyes flashing with fear. Sandra, however, was furious. "Grandmaster, you didn't tell us she was your daughter!" she protested, her voice rising.
The scarred man's expression turned glacial. "I don't have to tell you everything, woman. Now, move, before I change my mind." His tone was menacing, and Sandra backed off, her eyes blazing with resentment.
As Sandra retreated, Hailey's father turned his attention back to her. "Come on, Hailey. You really don't think I'm going to hurt you, do you?" His smile was almost convincing, but I saw the calculation behind his eyes.
Hailey took a tentative step forward, and I grabbed her leg, holding her back. "Hailey, don't," I pleaded, my eyes locked on hers.
But she shook me off. "I have to, Aiden. He's got my son, and I might be able to do something about it. Save your mom," she whispered, before following her father into the unknown.
The scarred man's parting words sent a chill down my spine. "Tie them up."
I tried to struggle my way out but the guy behind me was stronger, I stared at the knife which I had brought in for defense lying far away from where mom and I were. I stared at her with lots of questions in my mind, how did she end up here and what was her relationship with Hailey's dad. And Sandra, why was she working for Hailey's father? Lots and lots of questions filled my head.
Soon I was next to my mom with the moonlight cascading down in us, she sat there in tears as she began. 'I'm sorry don, I'm so sorry," she pleaded but I was confused, why was she sorry? She didn't do anything right? She was just caught up in the middle of all this, right? I wondered
'Mom, what are you talking about?" I said my voice trembling with the fear that she might have a hand in this.
'I'm sorry Aiden, I thought he could help me with what I wanted, I never knew he was working with her." She pleaded further
'Working with you mom? What are you even saying."
'Working with me dummy," Sandra who had been quiet from where she was finally spoke.
'Sandra, please could you stay out of this, it's a family crisis." I fired at her sternly
'And I'm what Aiden? Aren't I part of that family?" She replied with a cold voice
'You stopped being part of it when we broke up, Sandra, so stay out of this." I yelled at her anger building up inside of me.
'You wish Aiden," she paused, shifting her gaze from me to my mom. 'Are you going to tell him or should I do it myself? she asked with a cold look on her face. But mom was silent
'Tell me what?" I was still confused. But Sandra kept looking at my mom hoping for her to say something but when she didn't she said
'Fine, I'll do it myself." She replied as she turned her gaze back at me, 'Aiden, I'm your father's bastard child." She spat at me with venom in her voice.
The words rang for a while in my ears as I couldn't believe them. I stared at my mom, and then back to Sandra who had a grin on her face, hoping for my mom to say something, to please tell me that it wasn't true.
'Mom? I called out with a trembling voice, 'Mom, why aren't you saying anything?" I asked
'It's true Aiden, it's true, years ago your father had an affair with some lady right before we got married and I was pregnant with you." She explained and immediately I felt my world crumble
I stared at Sandra, my voice barely above a whisper. "What?" I breathed, my mind reeling with shock.
Sandra's expression was icy, her eyes frozen in a mask of indifference. "Your mom tried to kill me, Aiden," she said, her voice dripping with venom. "She couldn't get over your father's 'mistake'." She spat out the word, her fingers curling into air quotes.
I felt a chill run down my spine as Sandra continued, her words slicing through me like a knife. "You know why you're still alive, Aiden?" she asked, her voice cold and detached.
I shook my head, my eyes locked on hers. "No," I whispered.
Sandra's gaze seemed to bore into my soul. "It's because of me," she said, her voice devoid of emotion. "I spared your life, Aiden. Oh, how I wish I'd never fallen in love with you. Maybe then I would have fulfilled my mission, and the grandmaster would be pleased with me now."
I felt like I'd been punched in the gut, my breath knocked out of me. "What?" I replied, my voice laced with disbelief. "What mission? What grandmaster?" I demanded, but Sandra just smiled, a cold, calculating smile that sent shivers down my spine.
Sandra's words cut through me like a knife, each syllable a fresh wound. "Yes, Aiden, you heard me right. I wanted to take your life, to claim the wealth your father denied my mother. I wanted to inflict pain on you, to make each one of you suffer with every passing minute, just as my mother did on her deathbed."
Her eyes blazed with a fierce intensity, her voice cracking with emotion. "But I was foolish, Aiden. I fell for you, my stepbrother. I fell for the one person I was supposed to destroy."
Tears streamed down her face as she spat out the words. "You want to know why I aborted our child? It's because I couldn't bear the thought of carrying my stepbrother's baby. I risked everything for you, Aiden – my life, my future, my chance at happiness. And what did you do?"
Her voice rose to a crescendo, her words dripping with venom. "You crawled back to that witch, Hailey. You left me to suffer alone, Aiden. I did it all alone."
I sat there, frozen in shock, my hands tied behind me. The weight of Sandra's words crushed me, the revelation too much to bear. For three years, I'd been sleeping with my step sister, unaware of the twisted web of secrets and lies that bound us together. My mind reeled, struggling to process the truth. I didn't know what to say, how to respond to the chaos that had erupted around me, wondering what other secrets I hadn't unlocked yet due to my parents past.
