I took it this morning, and it says that I'm pregnant. I took it three times, and three of them were positive. Finally, Elijah and I will be parents. Oh my god! I can't wait to tell him when he comes back. I bet his reaction is priceless. We've been waiting for this moment, which God finally gave us. My life feels more perfect now. We'll finally be parents! I smile and walk out of the bathroom, heading to bed. I take my phone to call Elijah because I want to ask when he will come home. I really need to make preparations before he comes home. I press the call button and wait for him to pick up. It's going to voicemail. I frown at it, but I just keep calling. voicemail again. again and again... After four times calling him, he finally picks it up. "What?" I smile when I hear his voice. "Hey baby, I miss you so much. It's been one week since you went to London." I said. "What do you want?" He asks, and his voice seems like he's in a hurry. "I just miss you, Elijah, and I want to ask you when you will come back." I ask, and my heart feels a bit hurt when he doesn't ask if I'm okay or anything. "Hmm okay. I don't know, maybe next week or next month. Don't wait for me. I need to go by." Before I could say anything, he just hung up on me. Maybe he's in a hurry for his meeting. I can't blame him for his work. He works hard for our family, and I need to understand it. I pat my tummy. "It's okay, baby; I will find a way to tell your father." I smiled, then suddenly I heard the doorbell. I stand up and go downstairs to look at who it is. I open the door, and it shows Thea standing there with a smile on her face. "Hey, Alexa." She greets me. "Hi," I said, feeling weird because it's been a week since our last talk. "Didn't you want to invite me in?" I step aside to let her in. We walk to the living room and sit on the couch. "Well... I know you're still mad at me. So I'm here to apologise. I know I shouldn't say that to your husband. I'm sorry.." She looks at me with a regretful face. I stand up from my seat and go sit beside her. "You know, I'm sorry too because I kicked you out just like that," I said, and she pulled me for a hug. I hugged her back. I miss her so much, to be honest. "It's suffering because I can't talk to you for one week. You know, you're my one and only best friend that I know." She said after we broke apart the hug. I smiled at her. "I have something to tell you." Of course, I would tell her. "What is it?" She asks. "Okay... First of all, don't freak out when I tell you." "Okay, okay, just hurry up." She looks so excited to know what I'm going to tell her. "Alexa! hurry up." "Okay, I'm pregnant." She looks surprised, and then a big smile appears on her face. "Arghhhh! Oh my god! I'm going to be an aunt. OMG! OMG!" I chuckled at her reaction. Looking at her reaction like this, I'm thinking about how Elijah's reaction will be. "I told you not to freak out, girl." "How can I not? you're pregnant!" I smiled at her. "When did you know that you were pregnant?" "This morning." She hugs me and then smiles. "I'm happy for you, Alexa. I really am." She said. Just then, her phone rang. "Wait a second." She stands up and goes to the kitchen to take that call. Maybe that's important; that's why she didn't want me to hear it. After a few minutes, she walks in with a smile on her face. "Sorry. It took quite long. She takes a seat beside me again. "Nah, it's fine. Who's that? Your boyfriend?" I tease her. "Ew, I don't have any, okay?" Don't ever think like that: Oh yeah, Alexa, let's go and have lunch at the hotel today." She said. "What for? I mean, we can just go out for lunch at one of our favourite restaurants. Don't waste money too much, Thea." "Awe Alexa, you're no fun. We have to celebrate that you're pregnant. Let's go." She said and I raised my eyebrows. "What? Why said that,you looking at me like that?" She adds. "Let's goooo," "Okay, I will change my clothes." She nodded her head, and I walked upstairs to change. I picked baby blue jeans and a white shirt to pair with my nude pink cardigan. For my hair, I just let it down. I comb my hair to make it neater. I put on mascara and lipstick. I don't like to wear my makeup too much because I prefer to look more natural. I spray some perfume, then take my handbag. I take my cream-coloured pump, and then I'm ready. I go downstairs to see Thea already standing at the door. "Let's go." She opens the door and we walk to her car. We talk and ladoor,on the way there. Its feel so good to hang out with my best friend. A moment later, we finally arrive at the hotel to have our lunch. "Alexa, why don't we just stay here for one or maybe two days?" She asks when we walk inside the hotel. "It's so spontaneous, Thea; we don't have any spare clothes," I said, and she chuckled. "Pleaseeee... I want to hang out with you. We can buy new clothes to wear, or we can wear the same clothes for 24 hours. Come on, it's not like we've never done it before." She pleaded. "You know I couldn't say no to you when you did that. Fine..." I gave up. "Yes. Thank you." She swung her arms around my neck, which made me choke. "Th-Thea, let me go." She immediately let me go, and I took a breath. "Oops, sorry, hehe." She grabs my arms to go to the receptionist. "Hello, welcome, miss." The people at the receptionist's desk greeted us with a sweet smile. "Hello. I'm Thea Morris." I just stay quiet and wait for her. "Oh, Ms. Morris. It's room 368 on the 10th floor." The woman at the counter said I looked at Thea and raised my eyebrows. "Thank you," Thea said to that woman, then led me to the lift. "Woah, you already booked the room for us?" I ask, and she just smiles at me. "Alexa I'm sorry to ruin the mood, but I need to do this." She said this as we walked inside the lift. "Why are you saying that? Is anything wrong?" I ask, and she shakes her head. "You're my best friend, and I want you to be happy. That's it." I just stayed silent and waited until we arrived on the 10th floor. Ding! We walk side by side until we are standing in front of the room that shows number 368. She gives me the card, and I take it. "Before you open it, I just want to say that I did all this because I don't want you to live like this. I mean, yeah, you will know what I meant." It's getting so weird. Why would she say that? I swipe the card and then open the door. I walk inside, and my eyes widen in shock. I can't believe what I saw right now. My heart just broke into a million pieces. The shirtless Elijah and the woman who seems like she's already naked beneath him I looked at Thea, but she didn't look at me back, and she just faced the wall. I don't know what to say; this is so unbelievable. "Elijah!" I found myself shouting his name. I can feel my eyes already blurry because of tears. He looks shocked at first, then his face becomes blank. He stood up and stood in front of me. I look at that woman who covered herself with the blanket. "I thought you were in London." "You already see me standing in front of you here." He said it, and his face doesn't show any guilt. "Why? Why are you doing this to me?" I ask, and now my tears are already rolling down my cheeks. "You want to know why? Because I don't love you anymore. I feel like this marriage was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. I was thinking, "Why would I have to be tied down so early when I still can enjoy myself with another woman?" He said. Then I slapped him in the face. He looked shocked, and then I could see the anger in his eyes. "Living with you is such a mistake, you know that? So, I want you to pack your things from that house and leave. Don't ever think of coming back because my lawyer will give you the divorce papers." He said that, and now I fell silent and was surprised by what he said. "No. No. You can't do this to me. I love you with all my heart, Elijah. Besides, I'm pre-" "I don't care. Just get lost in my life because I want to be free and enjoy my life." He said that, and I can see that woman smirking at me. "You! You're the one who makes my husband like this! You bitch!" I really want to slap and pull that bitch's hair, but Elijah stops me. "Alexa! You're not my wife anymore. Now, you and your pathetic friend can get lost in my sight because I don't want to see your face anymore." I look at him, hoping all this is a nightmare, but no, this is real, and I slap him again. "You're going to regret this, Elijah. "Shorter or later you'll regret this; I'm sure of that." I said to him: His face shows anger because I slapped him twice. Thea pulled me out of that room and brought me home to pack my things. "Thea, why did he do this to me? I didn't do anything wrong to him. I love him, Thea." She hugs me. "I love him very much, and now I'm pregnant with his child. What am I going to do now?" I burst into tears. "I'm so sorry, Alexa. I need to show you the true colour of your husband. I mean ex-husband from now on. I don't want you to be like this. Please remember that you still have your child with you, and you also still have me. I'm your best friend. I won't leave you alone." I wipe my tears and look at her. When we arrived at home, I went straight to the room and packed my clothes. I didn't take all of it because I didn't want to take the clothes that Elijah bought for me. I just took my clothes and left all the things that he bought me. Just then the bell rang. Thea walks downstairs to check on who it is while I am still packing my clothes. "Alexa.." I turned around and saw Thea with one man. I guess that's the lawyer that Elijah talked about. "Good afternoon, Mrs. Perkins; I'm Harold. Mr. Perkins's lawyer and I are here to give you this." He gives me something like a file, and I know what it is. "I'm no longer Mrs. Perkins. You can call me Alexa. He nodded, and I took the file. I take it out of the paper to see that Elijah already signed on his part, which means he already planned to divorce me before. This is going to end. My life is not perfect anymore. All of this will be memories, and maybe they will disappear like a bubble in the sea. I finally gathered all my strength and signed it. Then give it back to Harold. "Thank you, Alexa; I will get going now." With that, he walks out, and I flop on the floor. Thea runs to me and helps me stand up. "Thea, my life is gone." I cried, and she just patted my back to calm me down. "You have to be strong. We can start a new life with just the three of us. You, me, and your child." I look at her, and she smiles at me. I don't know what to say anymore, but maybe what Thea said was true. He's not the one for me. I need to be strong for this baby. This baby doesn't know anything and does nothing wrong. She helps me pack up, and finally we're done. I look around this room before going out. I left my wedding ring on the table and then walked out of the house. I have to be strong. I still have this baby. I keep that in mind. "Alexa, I already booked the tickets for us to go to Los Angeles. It's tonight. Are you okay with it?" I don't have the strength to talk, so I just nodded my head. I need to build a new life for me and my child. Goodbye Elijah. I will do as you say, and I will never appear in front of your face again.
