CHAPTER13

Waking up to a migraine, I groaned before using my hands to locate the Advil on my bedside table. Coupled with the nightmares I sometimes have; I've also been experiencing a series of migraines most especially when I wake up. I think it's due to the fact that I stress myself a lot and I think about it a lot. I decided not to go to the hospital cause if I did, they'll call my parents and they'll want to take me back there and I don't want to ever see that place again. That's why they don't know, so I only told my friends about it. Popping two into my mouth, I grabbed the bottle beside it and swallowed the water as I opened my eyes and slowly sat up because of the pain. After some minutes, the pain began to reduce, so I went to the kitchen to make some breakfast seeing that I still had time to spare before my classes. I was already halfway through my pancakes when lexis entered from his morning jog wearing sweats and no top and dear God, he looked tempting but of course, I'll never tell him that. "you might want to wipe that drool off your mouth" he says gulping some water Then I checked only to see that he was fooling with me so I flipped him and he just shrugged and walked off. "Pig" I muttered. After my breakfast, I went to freshen up and I got into ripped skinny jeans and a small top with my vans. Then I walked downstairs to see if I can quickly catch the bus since Ollies still under repair. Entering the kitchen, I saw lexis eating a bowl of cereal and dear God was he so concentrated on it which made me burst out with laughter but he just blatantly ignored me. "I hate you " I muttered under my breath. "Cupcake, it's mutual" he said in his usual cold voice. As I was about going he spoke up asking "Where do you think you're going?" "I'm taking the bus to school duh" I said in an obvious manner. "Oh well sorry to burst your bubbles cupcake but my father would like to see the both of us and he insisted we come together with the same car" ugh, I hate that man, why do I have to see him so early in the morning. "Once again the feelings mutual cupcake" he chuckled shaking his head. Shit, I said that out loud. So I just shut my mouth and went to his car with lexis tailing behind me. The drive to Wayne enterprises was the longest drive of my life for two reasons The car ride was very uncomfortable thanks to lexis And two I was trying to figure out why Eriel wanted to see us. On getting there, I was about to step out when Lexis told me to wait. He got down from his side and came to open the door to mine. Surprise surprise "Don't get all too surprised. I only did this because I don't know who might be watching" he whispered to me. Well surprise ruined. We entered the building and almost like immediately it almost felt like high school, because everyone stopped to look at us well lexis especially but he didn't look fazed in fact he just held my hands and walked like no one was there. Taking the private elevator, lexis picked the top floor which was the 60th floor so we were stuck together for some seconds and trust me it was very uncomfortable. When we reached the top floor, a woman, not up to twenty-three came to introduce herself as Jules oh and I think she was just letting lexis know because she kept on ogling her eyes at him. She led us to the reception area close to Eriel's office and told us to wait. After a while, she buzzed us in. Eriel's office isn't that bad, it looks exactly like my dad's office except this is bigger and with no pictures. But seriously, do these men live boring lives? "If you're done staring, I suggest you take a seat" Eriel spoke up interrupting my thoughts when I noticed that lexis was already seated. "Oh" I mumbled taking my seat beside lexis before he through a newspaper in front of us. "Care to explain this?" He's voiced boomed, making me flinch and lexis scoff. The headline was 'Trouble in paradise?' "Um I uh- you know- psht- I don't know " I said giving up "This isn't even up to how many weeks and you're already fighting like children and in public?" He shouted. Dear God, I hope this place is soundproof "In my defense, couples fight all the time so I don't see the big deal in this" I replied sarcastically and I immediately regretted it because the two men sent glares my way making me want to cower in fear but I'm too hard-headed I'll never back down so I said raising my shoulders non-chalantly "What" "Look, father, I have a test I'm going to miss so I would like to leave and I'm not ready for this right now" he said impatiently pointing to the paper. The nerve of this boy! "Lorraine?" Eriel called silently "Sup" I replied nonchalantly "Could you give Alexander and I a minute?" "Uh sure" uh oh things are about to get ugly. So I stepped outside and stopped. No, it's soundproof. I wonder what they must be saying. It's been over fifteen minutes and I'm kind of missing my second test this week and I'm growing impatience. Finally, lexis walks out and I don't fail to see how bloodshot his eyes are and how bad his hands are. Then Eriel walks out behind him and turns to me with a dangerous smile "Lorraine, you can go ahead to school and I will sort out the mess you both have created". I not and walk off. During the car ride, I decided not to say anything to him because I figured that he might want to be left alone so I guess that's the most reasonable thing I've done all day. When we finally reached school, I got down from the car but only to realize that lexis hadn't gotten down so I asked: "aren't you going to come down?" "No" he replied sharply "Why" I pressed "Because I don't want to come down" he snapped causing me to flinch as he told Alfred to drive off. But not before seeing the sympathetic look Alfred was giving him.
