CHAPTER14

I was seated with my friends during lunch and we were trying to catch up because apparently, I've been too busy. I haven't spoken to Lexis since last week after our trip to Wayne enterprises, he hasn't been coming home too often and even if he does come home, he's always in his room or with his best friend, Ryan. "So um guys, guess what?" Carter cleared his throat, interrupting my thoughts "Yeah What?" Brooke answered "Well I had an amazing time with this girl last week, she's very beautiful and I think I kind of like her. I mean we didn't even have sex which is very surprising and I want to ask her on an official date and I don't know how to or even where to take her" Carter said blushing. Well, that's a first. I'm incredibly happy for him "Oh my gosh" Brooke squeals "This is huge. I can't believe this, I'm so proud of you Macbeth" I gushed "Yeah that's really um nice" Melia said with a forced smile which only I noticed cause he and Brooke went back to their conversation and I just kept looking at her. "Hey, what's wrong Melia, you okay?" I asked. "Yeah yeah I'm good" she smiled again. Another fake one. So I didn't bother her at least for now. "Great I have the perfect idea, she told me on the phone about how she'll love to um to go sightseeing in Asheville since she just moved here recently. I can plan a weekend getaway together just the two of us. It will be epic" he said, extremely happy "Woah can't you just watch a movie or something or take her bowling or whatever," I asked feeling not too good about his arrangement and I guess Brooke felt the same way. "I just want this to be special, I kind of haven't done anything like this so I just want to give it a try" he grinned "So, you are willing to go on a weekend road trip with a girl you met just last week and you wouldn't even take us to the city after high school graduation. Wow, Macbeth. Some friend you are." I said, trying to guilt-trip him. "Shut up, you're still my bitches okay. Just let me try this and see how it goes" "Well if you're happy, who am I not be happy" Brooke encouraged "Go for it then" I agreed "Sure sounds good" Melia mumbles "Thanks, guys, you're all the best but I got to prepare so bye" he shouted running away and I don't fail to notice the look of just and sadness on Melia's face. Uh oh, someone's in love with Carter. Well, this looks like the job for Lorraine; Cupid's little helper. ............. "So um Melia" I called "Yes Lorrie" she answered, coming out of my bathroom with a towel in her face "What the hell is up with you " I question "Nothing" feigning innocence "Don't give me that crap, I've known you for forever and I know that you always blink too many times when you're lying" I said feeling achieved "Ugh I am not" she scoffed, doing it again "Called it" I laughed "Fine! I guess I started liking Carter since that day we all played truth or dare in sixth grade" she confessed "Wow, that's an awful load of time. Why didn't you say something to Carter or even me" I asked "Because you don't know how it feels to love someone but you can't say anything because one word can ruin your friendship and I couldn't tell you because you don't know how it feels to love a boy and he not love you in return" "Honey, how will you say that I've only liked two boys and I'm pretty sure we shouldn't be counting Collins from fifth grade. But despite that, I would have helped you, we would have solved it together instead of you locking it up within you" I consoled her. True, I don't know how that feels but, she's my friend she shouldn't be going through this without me by her side. "I'm sorry" she sighed "No don't be okay? It wasn't your fault at all" I assured her. "Please don't tell him okay" he pleaded "I promise" I say, kissing my pinky. I love Melia and I know how much she'll hate me if she finds about what I'm about to do but let's just say, I'm a little too curious. "Now let's get back home, Brooke's cooking for dinner. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Can't miss" Melia says giddily. ......... "Hey Carter, I didn't know you moved in with Melia and Brooke I mean that's wonderful" I say surprised as I sat on Carter's bed, which happened to be my former bed "I know right, I figured that it was the best thing to do since I hardly ever stay at mine" he shrugged "Cool" I say looking for ways to ask him about the whole Melia thing. No, I'm not going to tell him that she likes him, I'm just going to ask what he feels about her. "Um, so Carter, can I ask you a very serious question? like a serious question like who do prefer, Rachel and Monica serious type of quest-" "Okay I get you, now shoot" he laughs interrupting me "Um so yeah so uh what do you think about Melia" I ask sheepishly "Well I think she's great and she's wonderful and um wait, don't tell me you're into girls?" He asked terrified. "No meh bleh no never" I shook my head " I mean do you like to think of you and her ever having something or do you like her in uh let's say a romantic way?" I asked "Oh no bleh no never. Amelia and I? No never, not in the afterlife" he gagged and almost immediately I felt a pit drop into my stomach. This is what she was most probably avoiding, now how am I going to keep this from her without making her angry with me but in my defense I thought it would have been the opposite. "Uh okay sure. Forget I ever asked you okay?" I mumbled walking away only to crash into Melia. "Uh hi hey what's up? I really got to go" I stutter, not being able to keep a secret from her. So I just walked out to avoid saying anything stupid. Boy am I screwed!
