CHAPTER 23
'Can you just please open the door and let me out. There's someone I have to meet up with," I said softly as an indication to my tiredness.
'Who? Bradley?" he snapped quickly and his eyes appeared to be going into an eclipse.
What the hell?
'No. My sister. I'm meeting up with my sister. We're going to the hospital," I truthfully answered.
'Your sister? Is she alright?" he asked, concern coming from his voice.
'Yes. It's our mother. She's... She's.... She's not well," I answered and the tears were welling up to the brim of my eyes.
'What's wrong with her?" he asked and pulled me into a hug when the tears fell on my cheeks.
He didn't wait for an answer. He opened the elevator and he ushered me out. We walked outside together, him holding my hand.
'Mr. Hollen, there are still people in the building."
'And?"
'You're holding my hand."
His grip tightened but not too tight to hurt me. He led me to his car, a black Audi R8.
He came around the passenger side and opened the door for me.
'Get in," he said like a command.
'Where are we going?" I asked, puzzled.
'I'm taking you to get your sister then take you both to the hospital," he answered.
Truth was, I do have to meet up with my sister but Bradley had offered to take us to the hospital to see mom.
I hesitated.
'What's the matter? I said I'll take you and your sister. Let's go," he ordered.
'Well.... ummm.... actually," I stuttered.
A silver Mercedes-Benz pulled into the visitors lot. Bradley stepped out and saw me instantly, standing next to the most expensive car in here.
I swallowed hard.
'Bradley had already offered to take us," I said quickly.
He turned around and the two came face to face with each other. Jaws clenching and hands forming into fists. The unfriendly tension was thick between them.
I pushed my way between them and parted both off with my hands pushing at their chest.
Their rock hard chests.
'Ease up," I said, sounding like the one in charge now.
Both men stood down.
I followed Bradley to his car and got in. We drove out the parking lot. When I turned around to get one more look at Mr. Hollen, his eyes were flaring murderously at the moving car.
What the hell am I getting myself into?
Evan's POV
She just rode away with that asshole Bradley and left me standing in the parking lot.
What was it exactly that he wanted from her?
She had been working for my father's company for over a year and never once had I saw her with someone from the opposite sex.
Now all of a sudden, Bradley was back in town and he was so interested in having her back in his life.
Didn't he have a chance to keep her in it when she was in college?
I raked my fingers through my hair and got into my car. I drove home slowly, thoughts floating through my dreamy head.
When I got to my house - a mansion, of course - Jessica was standing by the gate with an angry expression on her face. She walked up to my car immediately.
'Baby I'm so happy you're here, THESE MORONS WOULDN'T LET ME IN UNLESS YOU CAME!" she screamed out and stomped her feet as if she and acted as a child.
I drew down the car's window and my guards opened the gates.
'What are you doing here Jess?" I asked her. I didn't remember inviting her to my house because I did not invite her to my house.
'I came to see you. I want us to talk."
'About what?"
'About us, of course," she sounded annoyed by my question.
She got into the passenger's side of the car and I drove up to the entrance of my house.
'Baby, I missed you so much," she said as we entered into my house and closed the doors behind us. I made my way upstairs to my bedroom and she followed very close behind.
I removed my Armani jacket and shirt and tossed it into the hamper. Her hands wrapped around my waist almost immediately afterwards and her face pressed against the bare skin on my back.
'I really did miss you," she said softly. I stayed where I stood, allowing her to have her moment before pulling away.
'Are you alright?" I asked her.
'Yeah, just a bit angry at what your securities did to me at the gate. It felt like if I wasn't welcome here."
'Well with all fairness, I wasn't aware that you would be here. And they're instructed never to let anyone in without my ‘go-ahead'."
'Okay. Well can you give them the go-ahead to always let me in whenever I come over?"
'Why would I do that?" I asked, sitting at the edge of the bed. She walked over and sat down next to me.
'Because we're together."
'I really think we're moving a bit too quickly Jessica. I don't want a repeat of what happened the last time between us."
'Evan, what happened wasn't my fault. We broke up because we chose different paths. We were younger."
