CHAPTER 33
The remainder of the time, we talked more about life and what we wanted in the future. It was 10:30 pm when we left the diner.
He parked the car on the pavement to my apartment. He leaned in to me, looking me in the eyes and smiling his seductive lips. I smiled shyly for a bit.
'What?" I finally asked, removing my seatbelt.
'You're so beautiful. You haven't changed a bit," he said softly, shifting my head in his direction when I looked away from him.
'Thank you Bradley."
He leaned in closer and I knew he wanted to kiss me.
'Umm, Bradley... No," I said, shifting away.
'What's wrong baby?"
'Nothing. It's just that I'm not ready to be kissing you as yet. Remember what I said? It's going to take a lot of work for us to get to another level."
'Right, I'm sorry. I miss your lips, that's all."
'Uhuh. Well thanks for tonight. I enjoyed it," I said truthfully.
'You're welcome," he replied with a slump in his tone.
'Goodnight Bradley."
'Goodnight Jasmine."
I got out the car and walked up to my door. Opening it, I went straight for the couch. Zenia was still up.
'How was the little date?" she asked quickly sitting next to me.
I undid my sandals and stretched my feet out.
'It was fine," I answered shortly.
'Just fine? What did he say? What did he do?"
'He just wanted to patch things up with us as usual."
'Are you really considering Bradley back into your life Jassy? Because that would just push Hollen out of the way."
'I don't know Zenia. I really don't know."
I felt torn all of a sudden and I didn't like it one bit.
′ I don't want to have to choose between those two men.′
Evan's POV
'You know you like her. Ask her already and stop being an egotistical boss who got his head stuck up his butt!" Emily nagged for the thousandth time.
She had come to my office to remind me about our family's dinner tonight. Of course she could of called me, but she had to go the extra mile of showing up and breaking my walls down a bit to ask Jasmine as my date. Emily had a date and she wanted me to have one as well.
'I don't think she'll accept. Her mom is coming home and she'll want to spend time with her, Emily," I explained as to why I hadn't asked her to the dinner.
'You're only making excuses after excuses. Here's what, if you don't ask her, then I will."
'EMILY NO!"
It made no difference yelling to her and trying to stop her because she was already out the door.
She came back with Jasmine tailing right behind her. Emily sat back down in the chair she had been sitting in and offered Jasmine a seat.
Jasmine looked between us like if we had caught her with her hands in the cookie jar. She was frightened.
I knew Emily's approach must have been of a firm one. She always did that to make a ‘Boss Impression' as she called it.
'Did I do something wrong?" Jasmine asked, rubbing her hands together and lowering her head to avoid our eyes.
'No. But my dear brother has something to ask you," Emily answered.
Jasmine's beautiful chocolate brown eyes locked on me as she lifted her head up. I remained silent which made me earned a dreadful look from Emily.
'Evan, if you're not going to ask her, then I would," she repeated.
I still remained silent.
'Jasmine, my brother would like to know if you'll accompany him to our family's dinner this evening?" she asked with a pleasing smile.
'Ummm... Umm," Jasmine stuttered already.
'No pressure if you can't make it. It was only my friendly suggestion," she quickly responded as a form of having a pride if Jasmine was to refuse the offer.
'This evening?" she asked to clarify.
'Yes. If you agree, he'll let you out early so you can have enough time to look extra pretty."
Jasmine blushed, showing her dimples on her cheeks.
'Okay. I accept this friendly offer," she answered.
My eyes popped. 'I thought your mother was coming home today?" I asked.
'It was scheduled for today but she has to get one more test done so it would be tomorrow instead," she stated.
'Really, okay that's great. And remember it's nothing personal and it's just a friendly get together although you would be meeting our mother, father and younger brother," Emily informed.
I knew she said that to make her comfortable with going to dinner with me.
'Emily you're killing me," I said in a joking way.
'Oh shut up. I did something you didn't have the balls to do. And I can't see why you couldn't ask her yourself. Jasmine is beautiful... Just like the flower indeed," she snapped back, rising from the chair and taking her bag into her hand.
'Well I'm leaving you two love birds alone now. I have a salon appointment," she added, making her way to the door.
