CHAPTER 81
I was reaching to a point where I couldn't stand this anymore. Everyone turned against me and the world just seemed to be stuck on me. Gossips had already reached the media and my son's name was being dragged through the dirt.
‘He was only a baby! What's wrong with some people to be badmouthing the names of innocent babies?'
Bastard child.
He got the hair but he's not the heir.
Will he ever get to know his real daddy?
What's the new surname going to be?
I needed to get away from all of this drama and hatred. I was not about to bring up my child in this godforsaken place.
'I'm thinking about moving away," I told her.
'What? Why?"
'I really can't do this anymore Emma. I'm trying but I can't. Everyone and everything just seems to be against me. I can't catch a break," my last few words screeched out with tears behind it.
'It's okay baby. It's okay," Emma said and pulled me into a hug to let me cry on her shoulder.
She spent the rest of the afternoon with Jevan when Zenia went out for a date and I took a quick nap. I was so drained.
Emma's POV
'Hey baby, please laugh for grandma Emma." I made a funny face and he gave a big smile. I took that opportunity on using a clean cotton swab to his mouth. I placed the sample into a ziploc bag and placed it into a handbag.
I continued making silly faces for him since he was enjoying it so much.
Jasmine's POV
I woke up and heard laughter from Jevan. He was such a delight. Emma was making funny faces for him as he laid on his back in the crib. He was holding onto her fingers tightly.
'Hi, you're up," she said as she saw me looking at them.
'Yeah I'm up."
'Okay. Well you're going to have to take it from here. I'm heading back home."
'Thanks so much for everything Emma. Jevan and I will miss you."
'It's okay sweetie. And this is for the both of you," she answered and handed me another yellow envelope which I thought was the stupid DNA test.
'I can't take this Emma," I said quickly when I saw it was some cold cash.
'Evan said you tore up the check. I'm certain you don't have enough money to get by. Just please take this."
I knew she would not give up if I hadn't accepted it.
'Thank you so much," I told her again with a hug.
'Take care of yourself sweetie and take good care of him. He's so handsome and adorable."
I gave her a smile as I released her and watched her walked out the door.
After listening to the bickering of my own mother calling me a liar and a careless human being, I began surfing the internet for affordable but decent apartments in LA.
Emma had given me ten thousand dollars in cash which should be enough to start over my life in a new place with my son.
I made a reservation and booked an apartment for rent. Jevan and I were leaving first thing tomorrow morning.
As I watched the sun rose into the sky chasing away the last darkness, I rolled out of the bed. I had a sleepless night and Jevan's constant crying throughout the night didn't help me catch some sleep at all.
'Zenia, please make sure everything gets sent to this address," I said to my sister once I had gotten Jevan and myself ready to go.
'I can't believe you're actually leaving sis."
'I can't do this anymore. I need to move on with my life and start over with my child. Maybe this is my punishment or my blessings. I don't know."
I took one last look around the penthouse and leaving my final tears on the floor, I walked outside to the cab I had called.
'Take care of yourself," Zenia said to me and we hugged each other goodbye. She planted a kiss on Jevan's tiny forehead before I got into the car.
I looked back at her was the car drove down the street. She stood there, waving goodbye.
*Three Days Later*
Evan's POV
'Don't do that, you're tickling me Evan," she said with a giggle as my lips met her neck.
We were laying down on the couch, looking at television while we snuggled up to each other.
'You taste like pudding," I teased her.
'You know, you haven't spoken about the wedding preparations since that girl and her little bastard left," she nagged and changed the subject and my mood.
I exhaled heavily.
'Evan, are we still getting married?"
'Of course we are."
'Great. I can't wait. I had already picked out the perfect Vera Wang, the twenty layers of bride and groom cake, the wedding tokens and everything.
The wedding planner called last night and said she had already found the perfect location for the ceremony..."
She kept going on and on until I had a damn headache just by listening to her.
'Honey!" she snapped at me when I attempted to close my eyes.
'What is it?"
'Are you even listening to me?"
