CHAPTER 67
I rolled my eyes. Zenia was team Evan every day. I stepped out the car and Zenia, Evan and I carried my things upstairs.
After sitting everything inside, I walked him out.
'Thanks for everything. And take care of yourself," I told him.
'You do the same," he replied and walked downstairs. I watched as he got into his car and drove off.
I settled myself in my familiar couch and turned on the television. Zenia made popcorn and sat down next to me.
'How are you?" she asked.
'I'm fine."
'Did you fight with him Jassy?"
'With Evan? Yeah."
We watched The Parkers until it was almost midnight. Mom was at work. She had messaged Zenia and told her that she'll be working a double shift so she'll be home late.
'I'm going to bed now," Zenia said with a yawn.
'Goodnight."
'Goodnight."
I continued looking at the television and stuffing my face with popcorn.
A knock came on the door.
Evan! I instantly thought. I walked to the door.
'Who is it?" I asked. I wasn't taking any chances. It was almost midnight. That person should of called and said something.
Instead of answering me, they knocked again.
'WHO IS IT?" I asked with a shout. An ill feeling came over me and my skin instantly grew goose bumps. I stepped away from the door and took off the lights. I went to my bedroom, locked my bedroom door and lay down on the bed.
Somewhere through the night, I was awoken by a crashing sound in the living room.
'Mom?" I semi-shouted, hoping it was my mother. I took my phone from underneath and looked at the time. 2:03 am.
Mom maybe just getting in.
I got off the bed and made my way to the living room. Switching on the lights, I was met with a figure which didn't belong to my mother.
'HOW DID YOU GET IN HERE?!" I shouted.
He moved over to me so quickly that I wondered if he had feet or wheels.
'You're pregnant with Evan's baby?" his voice sent disgusting chills down my spine.
'It's none of your damn business! And who are you? How did you get in here?! I want you out of my house!"
'Shut the hell up bitch!" he snapped back and slapped me across my face.
I instantly fell to the floor.
'HELP! ZENIA! MOM!" I called out to my sister and my mother. I doubt mom had gotten in as yet and Zenia had already drifted off to sleep.
'You're not having his baby!" he said and landed a kick directly to my stomach. I felt the wind knocked out of me and I chocked for oxygen.
I heard the switching on of another light.
'JASMINE!" I heard Zenia's voice and saw when she rushed to the knife holder on the kitchen island.
He made a dash for the door and I heard a car engine started and my sister's voice yelling after him.
'You son of a bitch! You wouldn't get away with this!"
She made her way back over to me. I was still crunching in pain on the floor.
'Jasmine, I'm calling an ambulance and the police right away! You're bleeding!"
(this point of view is from Zenia- Jasmine's sister)
Zenia's POV
I rode in the back of the ambulance and listened to my sister groaned from the excruciating pain. All I was thinking about was the baby inside of her and how much it would devastate her if something terrible was to happen.
Jasmine adapted to the pregnancy and the incoming motherhood she was about to face. Two days ago, she had called me and told me she was extremely grateful to have me as a sister and everything was going smoothly with her pregnancy and how much she could picture me being a bad ass aunt to her child.
I smiled at that thought.
The ambulance came to a halt and the doors flung open. Jasmine was carried through an emergency entrance and I tailed quickly right behind her.
I was stopped by other doctors and medical staff when I followed them into a room.
'You'll have to wait out here ma'am. No one is allowed in this room."
I was pushed outside the room before the doors locked in my face
I paced the aisle back and forth until my frantic mother came running up to me.
'Zen! Zen! What happened? How is she?" she asked frighteningly.
'Someone broke into the apartment. I don't know her situation as yet," I answered as the tears rolled down my face.
Mom pulled me in for a hug.
'I'm so glad you called me. I should have come home earlier. I should of been there," she said and I returned her embrace.
'Have you called Hollen Boy?" she asked again.
'I did but I wasn't getting through to him so I left messages. He must be asleep," I answered.
I looked down at the phone in my hands.
2:54am
I held my forehead from the headache coming on now. I was worried about my sister and the baby. I wouldn't like it if something bad happens to them. I let out a loud scream in frustration and mom placed me sit down on a chair.
'Breathe, Zen. Breathe," she said to calm me down.
In another minute, two police officers came up to us.
