CHAPTER 79
'I'm not afraid!" I almost snapped at her.
'Well then prove it. Get a DNA test done."
'Fine. If that's going to shut you up once and for all."
I clapped my hands and the lights turned off. Sleep took over.
The next morning, I told Jasmine I wanted a DNA test to be done, and of course, that made her upset but it wasn't new to her so I couldn't understand why she was acting up like this.
On my way to the office, Aria, Jevan and I stopped by a private DNA center where the test will be done. I had to await five days for the official results.
'He's my son," I said as I placed him into the car with Aria. They were going back to the house with Fisher and I was going to work.
'Okay Evan, if you say so. And I'm beginning to think he actually is your son," she responded. She took Jevan into her arms, 'I wouldn't harm him," she quickly said, 'What kind of woman do you think I am?"
'Drive safe Fisher. You got my kid in there," I called out to him.
'Yes boss," he replied and started the car. I watched as the car drove away before I got in mine.
*Five Days Later*
My cellphone buzzed in my pocket as I walked downstairs to get to my car.
'Evan Hollen," I answered.
'This is Melani Thompson. I'm calling from the DNA centre. Your results are in Sir."
'Thanks Miss. Thompson. I'll be right down."
I got into my car and drove out the gate. I was in the best of moods. Aria would finally shut up about having a DNA test issued.
Even Zack saw that Jevan was my son and he was on Aria's side.
She knew he was my son but she couldn't accept that he was.
'Hello Mr. Hollen," a woman greeted me and I assumed she was the one who called.
'Here are the results," she added and handed me a large brown envelope.
Anxiously, I opened the envelope and scanned the papers. I hadn't done a DNA test before nor did I knew anyone who had one.
'Excuse me, what's this?" I asked Melani Thompson and showed her a graph at the bottom.
'Oh, we do that to calculate the probabilities."
'Oh. And what's the DNA result?"
I handed her the paper.
'In the case of two months old Jevan Hollen, you're not the father."
'WHAT!!"
' In. The. Case. Of. Two. Months. Old. Jevan. Hollen. You're. Not. The. Father," she repeated slower while my head spun faster and faster.
'It states that right here at the end," she added.
I grabbed the papers out her hands and looked it over. She was right.
I wasn't the father.
My son isn't my son!
I got into my car, threw the envelope on the seat opposite me, made a U turn and headed back to my house.
Jasmine's POV
Hush little baby, don't say a word
Momma gonna buy you a mockingbird
And if that mockingbird don't sing
Momma gonna buy you a diamond ring
And if that diamond ring don't shine
Momma gonna buy you a.......
'JASMINE!"
I almost jumped out my skin when I heard him yelled out my name. I had just put Jevan down for his nap and I was singing so sweetly to him. I kissed his little cheek and went to find Evan.
A large brown envelope was thrown at me when I approached him in the living room.
'Who else you slept with, huh? YOU LYING, CHEATING BITCH!" he blasted out at me.
I stood there. Dumbstruck by his sudden behaviour and tone of voice.
'What are you talking about?" I asked him finally.
'You're going play dumb now? You're going to stand your ass there and pretend you don't know what the hell I'm talking about?!"
'Evan! I don't know what the hell you're talking about!" I tried to match his tone of voice.
I scoop down and picked up the envelope. Looking through the papers, I saw what made him mad and I was mad too.
'This has to be some kind of mistake. I never slept with anyone else!" I almost cried when the DNA result stated Evan wasn't the father of our two months old son.
'You're good. You're really good. You had everyone fooled! Including me!" he shouted while clapping his hands.
I stared at the results some more, hoping this was a bad dream that I'll soon wake up from.
'Evan..." I said.
'Don't you dare say another word to me!"
'What's going on here?" Aria's voice asked. She was standing behind me.
She walked up to me, snatched the papers out my hands and looked at it. I was too frustrated to even put up a fight with her and a headache came on instantly.
'Oh my! How could you do this to him?" she asked and ran over to hug Evan.
'He brought and did everything for that child because you made him believe it was his! So if the DNA test hadn't proved you've been lying all along, would you of even told him the truth?" she asked.
